On this week's United Hour, Imran (@Annihilate Now! ), Colm (@Duafc ) and Craig (@Schmiznurf ) gather to discuss a variety of Manchester United related (and some unrelated) topics, ranging from beating Basel, how rain makes Fellaini's hair even more glorious, really crap defending, getting kicked in the face and the differences between RAWK and the RedCafe... all with absolutely no racism whatsoever.

Haven't heard the pod yet. Is this in reference to our first Caucasian scorer this season?

Really enjoyed the podcast. Just as I was about to set off on a two hour drive up came a notification telling me that the podcast had automatically downloaded and was available. Perfect timing.

"that is literally the definition":lol:

I realised after the Swansea game that we'd scored 8 goals without a white goal scorer and I predicted Mata would be our first one. But then when Fellaini scored against Leicester I thought he was our first white goal scorer. He looks white to me.

@Duafc, Thiago Motta is 6'2 (wrong Thiago?)

I will comment on other things once finished, but wanted to make sure I picked you up on it before someone else did.

Just another earth shattering United Hour exposé

    Exactly that!

 I listened to it on the way to work which is bang on an hour! Clearly Imran is the one with the issue!

A common misconception apparently, but I'm not wading any further into this minefield.

Morrocans are arabs, and may or may not have french or spanish ancestry, so its not beyond the realms of possibility he has some mixed heritage. Hey, family history is fun!

Good one guys, thanks a lot.
That racial talk was funny. Is Ibra white btw? This is turning into some nazi kind of racial division stuff :nervous:

About Rooney scoring against us: When Welbeck played against us for the first time after the transfer I got a lot of stick of saying here I hope he'd score against us. Me saying that was more of a WUM because majority of the Caf was despising him, and I was a fan of him.
With Rooney, I don't know. Maybe a consolation goal with us winning 4-1 but somehow this time I'd like us to keep a clean sheet obviously.

    Well you started it :wenger:

what's the misconception anyway? He's definitely of Moroccan heritage - hence him being a past winner of the Ebony Shoe Award for the best player of African origin in the Belgian league (Lukaku is also a past winner): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebony_Shoe_Award

The common misconception is that Moroccan's being part of Africa are black, when generally they're white, particularly the more north you go. Largely due to the interesting GeoHistorical past of Morocco.

@Annihilate Now! @Duafc @Schmiznurf cracking episode this week guys well done. Good to hear you back on an episode Imran! :)

    - Few hilarious moments this week, 'that is literally the definition of hindsight' Interesting on Fellaini too as I thought he was mixed-race, have we confirmed that? :nervous:

    - Regarding the Basel game, I thought it was a comfortable and controlled win, but honestly we should have scored more. Mikhi missed a couple of chances he probably should have buried and I really thought we took the foot off the gas at 2-0. I agree that I didn't think there was much Playstation football happening I just thought we played like we had won the game already, and Jose was right to have a word about that and I also think we could have went for throat but just controlled the game as Basel didn't really offer anything, other than the DDG save.

    - Fellaini has indeed become a cult hero, and really grown into his role and place at the club under Jose. He has grafted incredibly hard the last year so and gives his all for the shirt when he plays, admittedly he has grown on me and fair play to him, he deserves credit for that. I was impressed with Young in the game and he has proved he can certainly be called upon when Tony V needs the rest. Great cross for the goal the other night and Colm is right, he can't half cross a ball. Good squad option. Rashford is improving and I thought Lindelof played alright the other night, couple of nervous moments but think he will improve in his position.

    - The RAWK v Redcafe section was hilarious  well done @Schmiznurf. Scored 4/5 on that haha.

    - Other points - Red card for Mane was stone wall and I can't understand how there is even a discussion about it. It was like Ederson took a shot of Sweet Chin Music from HBK. Also herd the argument following the game that 'he's not that type of player.' No-one is saying he is but he literally kicked a guy in the face, 6 foot in the air!! How is not a red?? :houllier: - Thought we were really poor v Stoke and in the end a draw was probably the deserved result in truth. Poor defending from Bailly and Jones but as it was the first time they have been poor so far I'm not gonna be too harsh on them. - DDG save was out of this world, certainly must be in his top 5 saves for us with the Everton one, Suarez one, Mata one and Giacherrini one  - Think we have enough depth for now to cope with Pogba being injured but really hope he's back for the Pool game, we need him.

    - Everton were poor v Spurs and even worse last night, really we should be beating them. But I am expecting them to raise their game and play well, but hopefully we restrict that and really lay down a marker. 3-1 with Rooney scoring a nostalgic goal would be fine with me!

As said great episode guys, keep up the good work! That you back for good @Annihilate Now! ??

I see you have been reading up on this! Luckily Morocco is actually my specialist subject :)

Being the gateway between Europe and Africa, you are right that they do have a historic mix of all sorts in their ethnic pot. I think most Moroccans would think of themselves as neither black nor white though so you are both wrong!

Cheers for the good words, and agree with pretty much all your points.

There's so many De Gea saves at this point, I think everyones top 5 can be vastly different. I'd add in that one vs. Watford that he saved despite a massive deflection... that was a cracker.

Oh and I never went anyway! I will try be on more often though... but we shall see.

Hang on, if he wouldn't think of himself as white then I am right!!

    No problem man.

Aye you're right he has his own Hall of Fame of saves now, some incredible shouts. Forgot about the Watford one that was a worldy too. I remember one v Torres for Chelsea too when he was literally putting it into an empty bet and Dave saved that too. He has to be the best in the world now.

    Good to hear mate!

The people living north of the Sahara desert aren't black people.
Fellaini's parents were both Moroccan. He is born in Belgian.
His parents came from the Tangier region (the gate to Europe). In this region the people are a mixture of Moroccan, Berber, and a lot of European descendants (who occupied the area) Greek, Spanish, English and French people.

I have been listening to the podcast and really like it. My only criticism is the recent introduction of the RAWK stuff, I don't mean any offence but I personally cringe while I listen to that section and personally think you should drop it. I just don't think there's any need for it as I don't think it translates particularly well in podcast format, the RAWK thread and PlanM on Twitter do a good enough job of picking out the good posts so I don't think it really needs another medium. In addition to those points, I also think it's the United hour podcast, I don't see why you need to talk about other forums, or even other clubs so much outside of the context of the competitions.

Thanks TH, glad you're listening! I think we're trying a few different things this year to get away from what had become I think a bit of a stale format, I'm sure more will be miss than hit and I see what you mean about the Rawk/rival fan segments!
