Nik @Rood , Colm @Duafc and Ed @That'sHernandez try to work out how the hell we managed to lose to Basel; before celebrating the return of Pogba and Zlatan with the win against the Geordies. We finish by discussing our chances of catching City in the league.

Well I remember being out in Basel around this time of year back in 2011, the Christmas Markets were in full flow and they had a great stall peddling the hot melted raclette

Great pod guys, I feel as though it was missing something though

I agree about the playing for a draw point, it never goes well.

Raclette's are not meant to be eaten from stalls but like this:

I cant think of anything better to eat outside on a cold night than hot melted cheese !

its the only good memory I have of the Basel 2011 trip as that loss actually meant we went out

cheers! have to thank @12OunceEpilogue for the editing this week - top job as always

by first 15 secs, do you mean the advert? Its a necessary evil unfortunately, have to pay for bandwidth

It was the add. When is the next one?

    Brainstorming session

    1. Overall impressions
    2. Tops/Pros & Flops/Cons
    3. If everybody is fit, what would be the best offensive strategy? Tactical imperfection or lack of 'playing together' regarding the front 4?
    - Lukaku isolated: lack of mobility or/and not the right support? Tired?
    - The curious case of Martial yesterday
    - Who is the more comfortable on the wing: Martial or Rashford?
    4. The central midfield
    - Pogba becoming the truly leader: progress (more simplicity, dynamism...)
    - Matic/Pogba apparently easy starters: who should be the 3rd central player?
    5. The defensive block
    - The best back 4 yesterday? Young ignored by Martial?
    - The necessity to have a compact block of players: is the back 4 playing too low on the pitch?
    - Current unbeaten run at home :)
    6. Others:
    - Should we renew the contract of Fellaini?
    - What about the next game?
    - Does it make sense to recruit somebody in the winter?
    - ...

One hour is very short to discuss all these topics!

@Ecstatic cheers for the extensive list!

Yes too much for one show - we used to do a longer show but had some feedback from listeners to keep it shorter and I think an hour is about right

anyway we have covered some of these topics at various points over the last few pods, I will keep a note of the specific questions from the Brighton match though.

I think We will next record after the Arsenal match - last 2 times we recorded was after a loss so third time lucky

    Thanks guys, as usual :)

Brighton … we're all expecting an easy win

Here's what we think about that in NRW … not your Bayern "Big Cheese" raclette I'll admit @FCBarca but then we don't all live in huge castles do we ;)

You don't need to live in a castle and who would want to anyway. Just need to have a good appetite for raclette. The advantage of those individual ovens is that you reduce the work for the primary raclette person who is serving the cheese and you can buy a variety of seasoned raclette slices. But the traditional/artisanal way tastes best, IMHO. Not a big difference in costs for the apparatus either

So, apparatus apart, would you agree you're an artisan of "serving the cheese" … just sayin' ;)

I would never serve Swiss cheese as no one would know what that means - just sayin' ;)

Cheers guys, liked this podcast a lot.

Totally agree with Lukaku's finishing, been saying this for a while: he just seems to just smash it in hard as he can without looking where the goalie is positioned. Can't really remember a Lukaku goal where he placed the ball low into the net.

I know and I wasn't even expecting an easy win tonight :nervous: hopefully Ill be proved wrong on both

Did not expect to spark such a debate about the finer points of serving swiss cheese either!

Ye he can improve that for sure - I do agree with Jose though that his general work ethic for the team etc means that his place is not in question

there are other strikers that when they aren't scoring are pretty useless to the team but at least he was pitched in with a few assists and even tracks back for the team when needed, like he covered Rashford on the left late on against BHA which is pretty rare to see for a striker
