Rumours it was outside a mosque, perhaps a 'revenge' attack after recent incidents. Not confirmed yet though.

Don't mean to jump to any conclusions, but he doesn't look like a Muslim attacker. Adds possible credence to the idea this is a revenge attack.

Too early to speculate anything just yet though.

Armed police quick to the scene, and you know what they must've been thinking in this climate.

An eyewitness on LBC speculated about 3 possible victims, but another caller is putting the number higher.

Hopefully no deaths. Appears to be an attack directly on muslims. I genuinely am not surprised when I hear breaking news in london anymore which regards an attack.

    So awful :(

According witnesses on Twitter it seems to have been specifically aimed at Muslims returning from evening prayers at mosque.

Yes. We've had several of those types of "revenge attacks" in the US. Absolutely horrible

Details seem to be thin on the ground, although part of that is the time of day i guess. The British 24/7 networks are on the night shift.

CNN or LBC Radio are providing the best coverage, for those seeking info.

Hate the term "revenge attack", it suggest the victims have done something wrong. Intentionally driving into a group of people because of their faith is terrorism imho.

CNN: No more ambulances remaining at the scene.

No suggestion of ill-health with the driver, or drunkenness for that matter. A radio caller has also described the road as a cul-de-sac, so what of the odds of a van finding its way there by accident.

    :(

I don't think that anyone here who has used the word "revenge" has meant that the attack was carried out upon people who deserved it or had done something to somebody.

The media is using the term, and people here have used the term, because most likely the person that did the driving saw themselves as being on a "revenge mission"

Cue mass arguments over the word 'terrorist'. Who gives a feck? There's more important issues at play.

No news from the twitter pages of hospitals that victims might've been taken to: North Midd, UCH e.t.c.

The London Ambulance Service info remains the same, and nothing further from the police.

It does at least seem to have been restricted to this location, be we calling the driver a lone wolf terrorist yet or not.

You ask the guys who did the London bridge attack why they did it and they say it's a retaliation to British interventionism in the middle East / fundamentalist interpretation of the quran (I don't think we'll ever know what the official motive was).
    ^
They will be labelled terrorists by the media.

A white man runs over Muslims, in what I think will turn out to be considered a revenge attack, in his eyes.
    ^
He will not be labelled a terrorist by the media.

Imho, alot of people are fixated with who gets labelled a 'terrorist' to the point where it actually blinds them from the act and the motives involved.

Having said that, I guess this type of discussion doesn't register with your average member of the public who takes newspaper talk as absolute truth.

That's really not fair at all. There was no use of the word terror or terrorism when they first reported the last attacks in London a couple of weekends ago. Jump on the press for double standards when they are actually responsible for it, but not until then. Fair enough jump on the Daily Mail because there is absolutely no reason for them to attach Abu Hamza or the fact he once visited the mosque. That really is a disgusting but unsurprising headline, but to attack the rest of the networks for waiting for clarification before needlessly worrying people is bang out of order and the type of knee jerk reaction you sadly come to expect now.

you may think it's not fair and knee jerk. Up to you.

It is clearly a targeted terror attack. I think its a disgrace.

There are much worse examples of it than whether a (cnut of a) bloke counts as a terrorist or not though.

I agree langster, too many people getting carried away. I can also see why Abu Hamza was mentioned because that may have been a crucial reason this mosque in particular was targeted. Though the Mail is abhorrent for many reasons anyway.
