Lets be honest with ourselves, Lindelof is not the answer. It's trendy and more understandable to shit on the likes of Smalling and Jones but Lindelof is no better than them. Sure he's younger and has more scope for improvement but I don't ever see him being good enough. We were sold a dream that he was a ball playing defender that would lead us out from the back. He's just ok on the ball, he's had a few stand out moments but there's also times when he's deferred to Smalling. My main problem with him is that he's a CB that always gives his marker a chance. He's the least imposing centre back in the top 6. As a striker, you go into a match with him thinking you have a chance. He's not particularly fast and is quiet weak for a PL defender which immediately puts him at a disadvantage. His reading of the play and calmness makes up for some of his flaws but its not enough. He'll probably be a very good CB in the Bundesliga but he's definitely not good enough to be more than a squad option here. Go around the PL or Europe and you'll see the best young CB's are aggressive and imposing even if they are ball playing in nature. De ligt, Sule, Giminez, Joe Gomez, Skriniar, Eder Militao. As a striker you know you're in for a physical game coming up against any of those.
