We will always come up short in these games against the have a go hero teams because we dont have anyone to give the players a bollocking. Keane would have destroyed Smalling for that dive the resultant goal.

They don't really need one, if they make a mistake they end up scoring 5.

Everytime we concede a goal in a tough match our players look genuinely shell shocked

I watched City score 5 yesterday and it wasn't down to leadership.

Few teams have leaders nowadays. I don't see Barcelona or City with any leaders, they just play proper football.

Shouting at people doesn't make you a good leader.

It was. The leader is Pep. We lack a leader that understands that he is fallible and his football and tactics are garbage.

    Starting with the coach!
Mou isn't a great leader, always crying like a kid and throwing own players in front of the bus. Really hope he's gone in the summer - just not the kind of coach a club like United need.

Yea I agree I think we need a leader. I was going to create a thread about our players being too nice.

I think you need some players who will try and win at all costs like we had with Keane, Schmeichel, Cantona, Rooney and Ronaldo in the past. We don't have that kind of player now.

Watching Martial's reaction when he missed that double chance was infuriating to me. Ronaldo would have been pissed off if he had missed those which is the reaction you need

Nothing to do with leaders, since SAF left we have lacked any kind of cohesion and we seem to buy players who don’t fit the system.

Why did we buy Sanchez when we needed a right sided player and why did we buy pogba if we wanted to him to be a work horse in midfield.

I have no idea how we are second in the league, I seriously doubt we will finish above Liverpool or Spurs and will end up 20 plus points behind city.

That's always a bit of a fluff argument to make. Everyone looks like a leader when you're winning. Vidić, Rio, Evra were great leaders until we were shit and then they were not.

De Bruyne. Purely by being the best player in the league and driving them all forward and dictating play.

I am not old enough to remember Keane play for us. I was referring to you saying players need a 'bollocking' when talking about lack of leaders.

We need more from the coaching staff. Martial and Rashford were coached better under Van Gaal. One of the very very few positives of his reign here. I disagree about his reaction. I remember ckearly Ronaldo at that age missing an open goal away to Sheffield United and hanging his head. Fergie shouted something at him and clapped him. And his body language changed. I don't blame the players. City have a better Manager who is clearly the leader. I don't believe City have more leaders than we do.

Yeah, but on the bright side, we have a bunch of players who can dab with the best of them on Instagram.

Isn’t that what matters most nowadays?

Every time I've brought it up, people have laughed at the suggestion, but the only solution, the only solution that would work for us is to convince Sir Alex Ferguson to come back.

Jones commented after the game that they didn't show up today. That is becoming a common theme with this team, and its very worrying. That is down to the management and backroom staff. They have all week to prepare and motivate the team and Jose has his team talks. Something is very wrong when players "ddon't show up"

We lack both. But if you've got a player playing like de Bruyne, it has a positive effect on everyone around them.

If we had Keano in our side, he'd probably have a list ready to air on MUTV of those that aren't good enough.

Well, yes. The play the way they do in part due to Guardiola. I just take issue with the suggestion that shouting at other players will improve us.

Nothing like a defeat to bring out the psychology experts. "No leaders", "No desire", "Didn't want it enough".

We're jut fecking shit today. That's all there is to it.

You're right. It won't. Mourinho has too many issues publicly with too many players. It was Shaw, then Mkhi, then Herrera, then Martial and now Pogba. We now have Sanchez and our football is still garbage. What we had in Fergie that he understood was to play with tempo and be direct. That causes more porblems even when your team has avwrage players. Mourinho is far too one dimensional in his approach.

What issues? Shaw, Mhki and Martial weren't giving enough. That's reason to drop them. Same with Pogba and Herrera's been awful. They should be dropped for not being good enough.

Maybe in Ronaldo's early years. In his last few years he would have lambasted himself for missing.

I dont have an issue with Martial missing as I think the defender made a good block however the reaction to not scoring shows the difference between a good and great player in my opinion

Most top European teams have leaders by example, the top player that drags the team forward. I don't remember a big team having a real big leader in the definition you're asking for.

Who gives a shit what City do? We've had good leaders for as long as I can remember until recently and they visibly made the world of difference, when we're lacking someone to kick the players arses into gear it couldn't be a bad idea since Jose doesn't seem capable of it. We should play the way that works for us, not what's working for the current golden boys.
    Did for Keane.
