How have we sunk so low? Exposed his mindset. Long ball after long ball.

We might as well go all out to hire Tony Pullis. Sums the idiot up.

Wait, let's confirm if he really said it and the context before we start criticizing him.

We should have saved a few quid and gone for Sam Allerdyce instead of Jose

From long balls and crosses to Lukaku to long balls and crosses to Fellaini and Lukaku isnt really changing the game. Nevermind that we need to rely on such a tactic and on Fellaini, it rarely works. We cant cross, and even if we whip the ball in nicely once in a bluemoon, Bonucci and Chiellini were clearing everything with ease. He is worse than Moyes.

Highest paid manager in the world and the only solution he can come up with is bringing on Fellaini.

Fellaini is a much better option as a target for long balls. Fellaini his chest control is better than any of Lukaku his control and Fellaini is much betterin the air.

Still... sad we need these hoof tactics

To bet honest, I don't think he's wrong. But it's just a damning indictment of our attacking players at this club.

He's said something like that before hasn't he?

It's a wonder how every other team who doesn't have Fellaini manages.

City bring on Sane or Jesus to change a game, Liverpool bring on Sturridge or Shaqiri, Arsenal brought on Aubameyang the other night. This guy buzzes off hoofing to a mediocre defensive midfielder as our attacking "weapon". Not gonna deny it's been effective a few times but it's utterly depressing, all these other sides like Juve, Barca, Real, City seem to cope without needing to hoof to a big lad, why can't we try?

I remember posting about this a few months ago to much criticism. Fellaini is effective at being a bean pole to which to launch the ball towards. Mourinho has just confirmed my suspicions of his plan B.

I saw some people on here saying the same thing in the match thread, and they'll probably chastise Mourinho for saying it. Also, I don't think he is wrong at all. Anyone who can't see that Fellaini can (sometimes) change a game in our favour is blinded.

The fact that in his 3rd season, this is still his go to / best way to change a game, he should be fired

This is his third season at the club. These issues with our squad should have been ironed out by now. If he actually coached the team properly we’d be in a far better place right now.

Shocking stuff for a club like ours, I’ve been behind Jose for a while but the last month has been shite, he needs to go the sooner the better even if there’s nobody to replace him immediately.

I’d actually rather he played Fellaini up top over Lukaku... at least he can control a ball and pick out a red shirt.

That’s how bad it is. We’ve spent £75m on a striker I would have as a back up option to playing an unwanted midfielder in his place.

Exactly, we are Manchester United, not Tony Pulis wet dream, the fact this is what our manager sees as iour way to change the game speaks volumes on why we are so awful to watch.

People losing their shit over a tweet from a WUM which isn’t even accurate.

The actual quote is widely available on Twitter and starts by mentioning Sanchez and Lingard.

Do we need a thread for every Mourinho utterance?

I ain’t gonna bash Fellaini here because he’s actually done a decent job when asked to but it’s more an indictment of where we are as a club. He’s been here for five years(?) now and we haven’t improved enough for him not to be a key player for us, which is laughable

It must really feck with his brain how City and Liverpool can score so many goals without the big man to hoof up to.

People ridicule Fellani far too often but he's not a bad plan B. If Fellani comes on today, we draw. Simple as that. The problem is the lack of plan A. Our football needs to improve fast.

Imagine the Jose of 2010 saying this. The man who took Inter to the treble, who masterminded a comprehensive aggregate win over Barcelona at their peak, who made winning look easy. The quality he’s had at his disposal in the past. Now he’s relying on a very tall man to win some headers, and blaming his lost games on the lack of said very tall man.

Sixth season since Sir Alex retired & on our 3rd manager, but we are still looking for Fellaini's head or chest to bail us out. Mind-boggling stuff really. What happened to this once great club known for it's attacking traditions?

It’s true. We can change the game to play even worse ‘football’ when Fellaini comes on.

Fellaini is 90% of the so-called physicality that we have. He is also a generally reliable performer. We could have used him today; also Alexis and Lingard.

Maybe if he actually tried changing anything at all he'd have a point.

Saying stuff like this just makes it look like the reason he didn't try to change anything is because he didn't have Fellaini so just gave up.

We had a £50m player on the bench who we signed specifically to give us something new/different. We pay Sanchez more than any player in the PL to change games for us. He scores the winner for us last time we needed a goal late in a game.

Changing nothing just because Fellaini isn't there to hopelessly punt the ball to is so far short of good enough, you would probably cite it as a main reason if you were telling a manager why they are being sacked.

Fellaini's a great option from the bench, always has been

I swear people would rather loose than use him
