Awesome flick before from Perch. Clearly been on a diet of Colo's hair.

It is quite funny to see Newcastle streaking away from Liverpool after Liverpool funded their summer business with the Carroll deal.

Ironically we'd be doing them a favor if a toon victory was the final straw for King Kenny

It really is great isn't it.

Krul, Coloccini, S Taylor, Santon, Marveaux, Tioté, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Ba and Papiss Cisse = £34.5m. Andy Carroll = £35m.

    £500k in the bank.

I'd wait and see how Coloccini is first.

Demba Ba and Demba Cisse are fantastic. Throw in Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote, and Krul and they have core that is also fantastic. And it's young enough for them ALL still have development left in their games, and should also continue to gel together over the next few seasons.

I really hope they can keep hold of these players.

    José Enrique, July 2011:

'The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Seriously, do you think it is the fault of the players? Andy (Carroll), nobby (Kevin Nolan) etc etc.
'This club will never again fight to be among the top 6 again with this policy.'

He surprised me in that interview!

If that was Liverpool he was managing he would have said:

    "What happened Roy?"

"Well we were beaten by the better club, they've got great fans and really deserved that result today, they are a Top 5 team and that really shows and that is where they expect to finish".

Nolan was a great player for them last season, great start IIRC and tailed off a bit but I wouldn't shrug off his contribution so quickly.

Not me. I was happy that we were trying to improve on Nolan.

Yeah I'd say that's a good analysis, he was just what you needed last season though. Scored his share of important goals and was physical, really getting about teams. Barton and Nolan were a pair of real competitors and fought hard. You've turned a corner though and very quickly, I thought you were in for a relegation battle last year but you finished mid table comfortably and are excelling this season.

To be honest, I've heard a lot of people saying you've overachieved but I don't really think that is the case, your team's position is a reflection of the players you have there. I'd pick your squad over Liverpool's every day of the week and they believe they are Top 4 material...

They have done well, got rid of fighters and brought in good footballers. Out goes Barton, Nolan and Carroll and in comes Cabaye, Ba and Cisse. I know who i would rather have. Nolan has always scored goals throughout his career but i've never really rated him

Agree with this. Newcastle have bought quality. Liverpool have bought shit. The league position must reflect that.

Like others have said, the likes of Nolan and Barton were seen as having good seasons last year because of their working attitude towards the team and the way they always drove the team forward. Now, I'll be the first to admit that I wrote them off when they got rid of these players.

Pardew made a wise decision in the end though by replacing them with players who are better footballers, such as Cabaye for example.

Would you rather have Cisse or used that money on a new defender?

    Would rather have got both!

It didn't even need to be somebody good, just a body. I'd have even taken Bassong back on loan or somebody else like that.

In fairness, it's all well and good having a laugh at the ex-Newcastle contingent now at Liverpool, but there was a lot of dissent from your fans re Ashley and how he was running the club.

    Hindsight it a great thing.
