You will be after the summer transfer window.
Clearly? What's so clear about it?
You have Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United to contend with next season.
And what meaningless friendlies were they by the way?
The meaningless friendly where automatic qualification for the CL group stage were up for grabs?
There's more players in the pack and at the end of the season the table doesn't lie. Arsenal are the 4th best team in England and with what City will spend, what Chelsea will spend and likely what Liverpool will spend, it's hard to see them improving on that for the foreseeable.
There's no 'clearly' in anything about Arsenal's achievements this season at all.
To be frank, if you're finishing 4th, and by a comfortable difference in the end, yet you still think you're not far off, I can see Wenger's lack of ambition has seeped its way down.
Have you got contacts or what?
I don't think, rightly or wrongly, the player much cared about CL qualification. We'll have a qualifier that we'll win comfortably and it'll be sorted.
We're not far off because we didn't come up far short - the last few games have pushed us further away, but we competed for the title for a long time this year. A few decent signings and we'll be OK.
You don't need contacts to see what's coming.
Wenger was moaning about Wilshere being burned out this week so it will be interesting when they come back a few weeks early for the qualifier. It might not be apparent early in the season but it will take a toll later on.
Barcelona not having the funds to sign Cesc and Nasri signing a new deal? That's my prediction.
Yeh, it's a good point. I personally suspect Wilshere won't go to the U21s after all, actually. But yes, coming back a few weeks early might affect us quite severely, but it's positive that it's not a world cup/euro championship year which would have made the effects still worse.
I think Arsenal come up shorter than they think and with the improvements and money everyone else will spend, you'd imagine over and above what Wenger can/wants to, it's going to be another hard season.
I feel sorry for Arsenal fans, cheapest season ticket nigh on a grand.
They need so many players that you just cannot buy on the cheap. Once, or twice, you'll get away with it. But it's not quite root and branch, but it is a major facelift the club needs. There are so many players who aren't good enough to wear the shirt.
I would expect United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool to all strengthen in the summer. Wenger will have to do more than just hold on to his existing players. It's an important Summer for Arsenal no doubt.
Wenger on Bendtner- "whilst most people think the earth revolves around the Sun, Bendtner thinks the earth revolves around his head"
^ Spot on
And the sun shines...
When did he say this?
Anyone reckon Wenger will last the season? Or has he secured a job for life at the Emirates because of past glories?
I can't see him going. That said imagine they get dumped out of Europe by Udinese, battered by us and Wenger fails to bring in any good signings. He would certainly be under immense pressure.
He is safe as long as he get them into CL year after year.
Only in the media not in the boardroom.
The fans will be pretty fecked off an' all.
The latter. The only way he leaves that job is if he walks.
Nah, they've been pretty good the last two games, very supportive of some good performances by the likes of Frimpong, Jenkins and Miquel.
The prematurely empty seats and loud booing at the end weren't very supportive.
Pete, what is your stance on the manager i.e. are your pro or anti Wenger?
Loads of people leave before the end even if we're winning these days as they do everywhere. That was encouraged by the rain pissing in on the front rows. There was a half-heated boo for Nasri and at the end but the general atmosphere and support has been good the last two games.
Rubbish management today, should have taken Frimkopf or whatever his name is off at half-time. Anyone watching that game knew he would not last the full 90 mins without getting a second booking.
He needs to sort out his body language. Looks like a mental patient half the time. Can't imagine it inspiring confidence.
Even my wife, who doesn't know too much about football - said "Wenger looks like a man who doesn't really know what he is doing anymore".
Says it all really.
His ten year plan hasn't really started off too well. I think he has to focus on year two.
No, it says her-indoors knows nothing about football. Which you knew anyway.
What happened to the ladies' team today, Pete?
He didn't have a choice with Frimpong. Ramsey was having the game from hell and Frimpong was the only player contributing to the midfield battle. Even though he was an accident waiting to happen. To be fair to Wenger, that was an incredibly depleted squad.
Wenger: the man, the misery
He's not a very good loser, Arsene.
The Tristans and the Sebastians are definitely getting restless if the majority of gooners I have spoken to are anything to go by.
Wenger: “The target is to have a good team. You can spend money – and have a bad team.”
ARSENE WENGER: I WILL NOT QUIT - Express.co.uk
Is he serious? their current team is really bad enough. arsenal fans must be getting restless with him.
Arsenal fans again chanted for Wenger to invest in more talent to add depth to the squad.
"The target is to have a good team and good players. You can spend money and have a bad team," the Gunners boss said.
Given the current predicament I'm struggling for words here I really am.
Not often in my life I can say that
The man has lost it completely. He'll be shown the door at seasons end in a "mutual" parting of ways.
He settled into this way of thinking a while ago. Not much difference between his stubbornness and Rafa's. Both are just taking the ship down in different ways but the effect will be the same.
He should have been fired last year. Writing was on the wall.
Stubborn does not work in the ever changing world of football.
