It's all in the title. The season has started, our team has won its opening games. But I miss the having a player with the #7 on his back to fantasise about.
I don't think it is a shirt that should be gifted from the start, it should be earned through performance proven at least over a course of 12 months. So I don't have a problem with no one wearing it now, but I miss it.
I am guessing some will suggest to save it for Griezman next year, but let's take that out of the equation for fun. (I still wouldn't give it away right off the bat, and any excitement for the move has faded on my side)
Does anyone think any of our current squad players could potentially deserve it? (I'd hope for Martial I guess)
Or anyone from the academy that could fit the mould? Angel Gomes maybe?
Or just keep waiting till we find an "Mbappé" type talent?

Adidas will probably want us to have a #7.
Not sure who in the current squad could wear it though. I'm guessing a new signing next season. Would love Dybala.

I've heard that Messi guy hasn't signed a contract yet and will be a free agent next season, could look into that.

To be honest I cannot think of another bar Griezmann that continues the #7 tradition. Maybe Dembele or Mbappe if we're being generous. CR had set the bar too high for anyone to follow.

I've genuinely stopped paying attention to numbers. I could tell you what maybe which number half the squad wears but the other half I'd have to sit and think. With the exceptions of players who've managed to market a brand out of their numbers, I think these days they're less important than they once were.

Martial or rashford will pick it up.

Could even be Ibrahimovic actually. I'll bet on that.

    Yeah right, whatever

We gave it to Owen, Valencia, Di Maria and Depay after C.Ronaldo left.

We've almost killed the glory of the #7 shirt with who's had it lately.

Hopefully the next player who gets it is a worthy one.

Don't. Adidas already leaked Zlatan's shirt with #10.

I'd give it to Zlatan. Why not? Would have got it anyway, if it was free.

If we try Rashford RW and it works then him in a couple of years. Mkhi maybe but I don't think he's the right personality. Otherwise wait for the superstar forward. Griezmann?

Yeah and not one of them could meet the standards for the shirt, bar Owen in the last few minutes of that City game and for his CL hattrick.

Ibra in January if he doesn't take 10, or else if Rashford has a good season give it to him for next season.

A shirt is a shirt, it has not standards. Those words don't mean anything. It's like saying a frying pan is ambidextrous, or a kettle is very articulate.

Disagree with you there. At United, the no.7 shirt is or is meant to be, exceptionally special and to be worn by special players.

Everyone knows the history of the shirt, the players who wore it and what they mean to this club. So the number 7 for me is definitely more than just a shirt.

If martial steps up his game this season, and so far hes definitely on the right track, I would be tempted to give it to him. Would also make up for that whole no9 fiasco

I still think Griezmann will happen at some pt between now and next summer. There s been too much said about him for me to believe there is nothing in it. Sit on it.

I would rather he fecks off to some other team. He's quality but as with any transfer saga that drags out for so long, it tends to get incredibly frustrating and I don't ever remember the player ending up here. Probably because they were not that keen in the first place. If he was that keen on joining, he would have forced through a transfer this summer. He's been at a level above athletico for the last 2 seasons now.

Thiago, Vidal, Kroos, Fabregas all ring a few bells. #Saynototransfersagas

That is feasible. No doubt he is a special player and did well for us last season. I can imagine us going 442 when chasing a goal with Zlatan coming off the bench.

Love Dybala but don't see how he fits unless we get rid of Mkhi & Mata, also Barca will have their hands all over him... particularly if Messi were to leave, they are going to have to buy that special player. Speaking of whom, naaaahh too expensive and Guadiola's pet. He has done well and should either stay at Barca or go home to Argentina. Also probably too expensive. (Wonder what Cr7's reaction would be of Messi with his #7 jersey seated on a couch next to SAF sipping wine)

I think I saw somewhere that hes taking the no10. Nothing confirmed as of yet though
