Let's pass some time until kick off.

Which team would have the best first eleven if they were able to keep their players? Southampton would be pushing top 4 with this I reckon.

    -------------Forster----------
    Clyne-Van Dijk-Lovren-Shaw
    ----Schneiderlin-Wanyama---
    Oxlade-C---Lallana-------Bale
    --------------Mane------------

What other sides could challenge them?

    Dortmund, Ajax would better them.

Burki, Pisczeck, Hummels, Sokratis, Gueirrero, Weigl, Dahoud/Castro, Reus, Dembélé, Aubameyang, Lewandowski.

Cillesen, van der Wiel, Alderweireld, Verthongen, Blind, Nigel de Jong, Eriksen, Klaassen Sneijder, Suarez, Ibrahimovic

Ajax would be champions league winners several times over since the turn of the century I reckon.

Southampton have some better players in their current XI, their scouting is excellent, obviously Bale would make a hell of a difference though.

Last year's Spurs with Modric and Bale would be quite the team, you'd imagine.

United with Ronaldo and Pique would be alright.

Chelsea with Lukaku and De Bruyne not bad.

Atletico with a front 3 of Aguero, Costa and Griezmann.

I know those aren't feeder clubs (except Spurs) but meh.

Liverpool's one would be quite good too. Mascherano, Alonso, Suarez, Sterling.

Bertrand and Cedric would arguably play ahead of Shaw and Clyne nowadays. I'm not sure if Fonte is still any good but it doesn't take much to be better than Lovren. I guess loans don't count, otherwise Alderweireld would be a no-brainer. Then there's the question of Gabbiadini vs Ox / Lallana / perhaps Shneiderlin if you tweak the formation.

So the criteria is only players that played for them?

I'd take Bertrand and Cedric over the fullbacks (yes I know one of them is Shaw), and Romeu over Schneiderlin, not a lot in it but it shows they know how to replace players.

Gündogan as well; since this is total fiction, we can just imagine a healthy version of him.

@Blind beat me to it. And I forgot Rakitic and Rafinha. And there is still Meyer who doesn't get a place in the first team. Schalke have an amazing academy. Best in the world in my opinion.

Valencia, have they managed to keep Silva, Mata and Villa, but surround them with better players. they were still playing with Baraja, Edu and Marchena when those three players won their only trophy with Valencia. Valencia's financial situation probably played big part in that.

Gladbach, if they'd kept all their key players:

    ---------------------
    Reus--------------Raffael

    -------------------------------Stindl
    Wendt----------------------------------------------------Herrmann
    --------------------Xhaka-------------Dahoud

    --------Christensen--------Dante-----------Ginter

    ----------------------------Ter Stegen

(+ Dominguez, Kramer, Traoré, T. Hazard, Kruse...)

Not the most famous players in every position, but I reckon Lucien Favre could have built a pretty fierce unit out of this team.

I thought about them but I can't find a decent CM pairing. Maybe Isco and Perez.

Wait a fecking minute. Could someone define "feeder club" before we go on with this?
Would you include, say van Nistelrooy, in a United XI because he was sold 11 years ago and has been retired since 2012? Or could you throw West Ham in there with Ferdinand, Lampard and Defoe?

    Lloris
    Walker - King - Alderweireld - Rose
    Modric - Carrick
    Bale - Alli - Eriksen
    Kane

    Would probably win the lot.

Basically any club, but I used "feeder club" to evoke the likes of Southampton, West Ham, etc.
