Out of all the players that we have signed since SAF retired, who in your view has been our best signing? Now obviously we haven’t signed anybody who’s set the league on fire, but out of all the players that we have signed,I would say that Juan Mata has been our best signing.

He consistently produces good performances even though he’s not played in his best position 90 percent of the time since he joined us.Hes scored some truly memorable goals, none more so than that stunner at Anfield a few years ago....Plus he’s one of the most likeable players to have ever worn the United shirt.

So out of all our signings,I would say that Matas been the pick of the bunch.I will definitely miss him when he eventually leaves the club...

My god when you think of it like this you really just see how bad signings have been. But then if you extend it back further, have we actually signed anyone good since DDG?!

    Pogba, Martial, Shaw.

Shaw falling off the map has a great lot to do with his leg break. He's back to his best again, though.

Based on average performance and ROI so far, Mata.

Pogba and Martial have the ability to surpass him but they haven't yet .

Pogba without a doubt. When he plays well we play well, the only true top class outfield player we have.

Pogba is easily the best player we've signed.

Ibra on a free for a season was a good signing too.

It's a hard one really. All of our signings have had periods where they have looked good, looked terrible, held down a starting place and then put on the bench.

If we look at the trophies we have won its Zlatan or Fellaini.

How is Pogba "obviously" or "definitely" our best signing? He's been so underwhelming - particularly considering his hefty price tag. Just because he's the most talented player out of all the players we have signed does not automatically make him our best signing, especially when there's still a lot of question marks about his attitude and future at the club.

Pogba is the obvious one for me. But dependent on future years, perhaps Martial and Shaw assuming longevity and maintained form.

Zlatan can’t be too far behind for what he helped us to achieve in his short time

Pogba martial and ddg in the last ten years.

This is the profile of player we should be trying to develop. While not being in any way convinced by our scouting and transfer plans at least our scouts spotted them...

He was integral to our EL campaign in his first year and looked even better in the 2nd year before injury disrupted his momentum. This season he's been again our best player. No player has been involved in more goals since he arrived so there's no arguments for me. Martial is up there as well.
He's only 'underwhelming' if you listen to the media but if you watch the games you'll know the importance he had for us in these 2 years.

First year, he was the epitome of meh. Inconsistent - the jury was still out on him considering how good he was for Juve the three years prior. Second year, he played well for a few months and then got injured as you said, before playing shit for the rest of the season, turning up every so often.

Third season, again, he's been so inconsistent. To say he's been our best player this season is debatable - I'd personally have Shaw, Smalling and maybe Martial ahead of him - but it's hardly a big claim considering we've been largely shit again, sitting in tenth place in the league and performing piss poor in the cups.

You don't actually believe this, do you? Apart from Souness, the media has been pretty fair.

Zlatan was an incredible signing. If he was just 5 years younger the day he signed he would have carried the team through this period.

Mata rarely has a game where he's god awful, but hasn't had enough top games to justify the price and expectations.
Pogba simply makes us better but we are still yet to see him at his best at United.
Romero for free turned out to be a fantastic bit of business, so vital in winning us the Europa League and is one of the best number twos you could ask for.
Martial is an exciting talent that I'm glad we've got, hopefully a more attacking manager will get the best out of him.
Ibrahimovic for free was good too, shame it was short lived.

Below those I'd say the next best signings are the likes of Fellaini (people might hate me for saying that), Herrera, Blind and Lukaku (though my faith in Lukaku is dwindling).

The rest range from average to downright awful (not including Fred and Dalot who deserve more time). Hopefully the likes of Lindelof and Bailly can improve though.

Epitome of meh?? You didn't watch much of our games then.
He was consistently laying chances on a plate for our strikers. Not his fault they kept missing their lines. He should've had at least 10 more assists to his name.
I already mentioned he was our best player (with Mkhitaryan) in the EL - one of the two trophies we won that season but you ignore this.
Some of his stats have actually been better at United than Juventus.
He had two bad games at Spurs and Newcastle with the rest of the team and got dropped which created some headlines for the media but overall he was one of our strongest players last season.
Not even going to talk about this season he's been far and away our best player upto this point. Shaw and martial have had the biggest turnarounds. Us being shit and out of the cup, 10th whatever has nothing to do with it. We have other problems that's why we're in that position.
And yes the media have been unfair going from blaming his haircuts, dancing to social media for our performances stuff that has nothing to with the football.

Ibrahimovic is the easy choice. Free signing, fantastic in the one year he was here and we had a very encouraging season overall and won 2 trophies. We looked like a team, no off the field issues, and only finished 6th because our finishing as a team was awful in the league. Some of that had to do with Ibras inconsistent finishing, but the guy was still a catalyst for our improvement that season.

Cant have pogba here because of the fee but also his performances on average. Last season was trash, the season before was inconsistent as hell. Mata and Martial have been decent. Herrera has been a good signing. Shaw has been turning it around this season. No point in mentioning anyone else tbh.

Zlatan and it's not even close. Add to this that he had a freak injury that had nothing to do with age and he could have been playing for us right now. The injury he got can be career ending for most players regardless of age.

Very few have been much of a success. It's almost like picking the least poor transfer in that time.

Ander, Shaw, Pogba and Martial are the only ones that I think there could be a case for saying they were worth what we paid.

Ander and Shaw the money was about right. 36 million euros for a player of the season for Ander and 37.5 million euros for our current starting leftback Luke Shaw. Its taken time for him to settle but now that money seems fair.

Pogba and Martial still seem a bit expensive for what they've given so far and there are no guarantees on the future. Even if they are our best players signed in that time.
