It cant be that easy , if it was we would of had part time managers before .
Just think of the money the FA would save.
There has to be more to it than that , do the manager not have to go around the country , Europe to watch players.

I hope it's not that old rogue, Redknapp. I'm not sure his son could get any smugger

The funny thing is, Owen barely scrapes being English himself. I don't think he has ever even lived in England. The only reason he is able to call himself English is because Chester is the location of the nearest hospital for people in the part of Flintshire he's from.

This is international football, it should involve the best playing and non-playing staff in your country. For a proud footballing nation that invented and organised the game it's an absolute embarrassment that we haven't got an Englishman as manager.

I agree with this , the next England manager should 100% be English.

It was the fact that they went over his head and undermined his authority. Apparently.

It is an absolute embarassment that we haven't won anything for fifty years.

Do you think Greece cared that their manager was German at Euro 2004? I seriously doubt it.

I don't get why some people feel the manager being English automatically means he will get on with the team and he'll understand them.

It's essentially a blame game cycle. If you don't do well you will be public enemy no.1 simple. The risk reward ratio is crazy. Anyone who wins something with England will go down as a national hero/legend.

So do I, my principles including not caring where somebody is from if they can do a job better than the locals can.

Harry in my opinion does not possess tactical awareness. He's too British in his football philosophy. SAF took years mastering playing against European rivals.

What about Roberto Martinez? With better players under his management I reckon he'd do a good job.

Hoddle and Venables both got us fairly close to actually winning something, we barely had a chance with Sven or Capello at the helm.

What he might do, which England need most of all, is instill some purpose in the players.

The FA aren't brave enough to take a risk on somebody like Martinez.

We aren't appointing someone to a bank here, this is the country that gave the world football. I'd rather lose with an Englishman than win with a foreigner, that's the honest truth.

To be honest I completely agree with TBGB on this one, he doesn't have to be English.

However I actually think we have a good thing going with Foreign, English, Foreign etc. Shuts up the yobs when the English guy wins nothing.

Didn't Sven take England to three QF's in a row? With a tiny bit of luck England could've easily managed a SF appearance under Sven.

He was an excellent manager who was treated unfairly by the press.

I'd give him the U-21 job - that I think would suit him - but not the big one as managing Wigan is a world removed from managing England.

That's like Wenger saying he'd rather play fancy football than win the league. I'd just love us to win a tournament with any manager English or foreign.

David Beckham went to france as a national hero Got sent off, came back home, reputation zero. England fans their all the same they get so excited! You can shove England up your ass because we are Man United.

I would hate to play for England, its a joke these years! I meant, Not qualify for Euro 2008 and then claim you will win the world cup 2010? Gimme a break.
