IF Sanchez had hit the ground running he would still feel like an exciting, new signing, to us all.

As it is he already feels like a wage waste.

Footballers can age very very quickly (remember people saying RvP doesn't rely on pace so can be effective till mid 30's), as for Romnie, clearly on the decline , people saying he would make us title favs over night might need to look at how good City really are because even a peak Ronnie wouldn't guarantee us the title.

So the combination of the Sanchez superstar wage(and clearly his inability to play on the right these days), and common sense have meant we haven't gone back for Ronnie.

I genuinely think it's a Jose decision, because I can't begin to believe that Woody wouldn't have wanted him back.

I think we need to sell before we buy now. And we wouldn't be able to sell enough to sign Ronaldo.

Too expensive for his age. Will make a great story but will not be building United's future.

Spot on. If Ronaldo was coming to us for next to nothing, then brilliant but the finances involved just made no sense...especially as work needed to be done on other areas of our squad.

his goals pretty much guarantee a trophy and being in the running for the title, regardless of age. He is as fit as many 27-28 year olds and could play four more years

It’s a transfer that makes sense for Juve, huge commercial boosts and he can slot into a very competitive team and possibly be the difference in the champions league.

we made right decision not getting involved, the money needs to be spent elsewhere.

In my opinion, it's because the money could be spent better elsewhere.

What We lack the most are the services for striker and width/proper crosses from wingers/fullbacks. Ronaldo is no longer the flying winger He used to be so He won't solve those problems. He'll still score a lot but the priority right now is not another striker.

Not to mention his age, He's on decline even though He's still a top top player. In a few years, We could be in another "Rooney" situation where someone is clearly declining but is an icon for the club so it's hard to get rid of him - legend of the club, too marketable, fans love him, etc.. hindering the club from moving forward. Whereas if We spend wisely the team would be much better in a few years while also improving the current one.

United already has Sánchez with a similar wage and Ronaldo didn't want to work with José.

    But United was indeed interested.

Who’s he going to use to leverage for more pay if he signs back with us?

Gotta milk that annual return to United raise till it no longer works. No point killing it off too early.

Truth is we're not elite anymore. No reason for CR7 to want to come here.

I'm not a fan of the bring back an ageing player thing, especially when you're talking about £80+ million for a 33 year old.
Zlatan was free and joined at 34, that's what I call a good bit of business even if there was a signing on fee involved.

I thought that I read Jose and Ronaldo had a bit of a bumpy relationship at Real Madrid, so maybe Jose didn't want him back.

Good deal for Juventus, good deal for Real Madrid, excellent deal for Ronaldo and a very good deal for United. Getting him here now at crazy money would be pretty stupid and you know it would just go wrong. Very happy with how this went.

Sanchez and everyone except Rashford/Martial are hoping last season was just a blip.

Ever thought maybe the player didn't want to come? I know it's a hard concept to grasp considering a fair number of you are still convinced he jerks off into a United sock every night while staring at a framed picture of OT.
