In recent times at least, we haven't had that many. Peehaps only recently Schweinsteiger?

Barthez and Bland before but I'm struggling to name them.

With the results as they stand, we could have a couple more!

Lakaku could be joining that list. Oh yes, and Fellaini.

There's a very good chance either Pogba or Lukaku & Fellaini will win the world cup. All of them are showing their class for their country, just hope we can get the best out of them at United.

    "Phil Jones, World Cup winner".

    Sounds weird.

Provided neither of Russia or Croatia win it, we’ll have at least one more.

How many players have actually won the world cup while United players?

Im guessing it's just Charlton and Stiles.

I might be wrong here but it seems like premier league players are owning this. Of the remaining teams I don' think there is a league that can assemble a better team

I think Chelsea almost have to have a player in the final. They apparently have some random Croatian youth player who has never actually played for them (peak Chelsea?) for Croatia. Then Cahill, Hazard, Kante.

United and Spurs also looking good.

In a very strange world, United could have Lindelof v. Pogba.

In the ‘65 title winning side, he scored 20 goals from 60 apps. I was only a kid at the time and he was one of the less “glamorous “ in the team. Certainly an orthodox, dogged, no frills winger, I remember reading an account of what a tough character he was. Pretty sure he was getting on a bit when we signed him.
Pretty sure he played at least, in England’s first group game vs Uruguay (0-0) where the team failed to impress and he was one of the casualties. Alan Ball would have been his replacement.

    Edit: found these:

? There's no Chelsea players in the Croatia squad, loanee or otherwise. Sadly not "peak Chelsea". We have a Croatian on the books but he is not at the World Cup.

Same for Russia (Zhircov used to play for us but no current players).

Wow! For such a relatively small country too (11.35 million)... They obviously have a very good youth system.

There were a couple in that France team too. 3 / 4?

Four in the PL - Lloris, Kante, Pogba, Giroud.

funnily enough, every player in the France XI yesterday plays in the big 4, apart from Mbappe. Shows how poor Ligue 1 is in comparison.

ok, wow. I was just getting my hair cut and was having that conversation with the Barber actually. About how European football is dominating at the minute. Probably since 2006 actually.

2 South American teams and 6 European teams in the last 8 of the world cup.

How many players have won the World Cup while playing for Manchester United at the time?

    Obvious Charlton in 1966.

    Are there others?

Wasn't it 9? Only Witsel and Meunier were from out of the PL I think.

Quite a few possibilities this time.

Pogba. Fellaini. Lukaku. Lindelof. Young. Lingard. Rashford. Jones.

Huh, apologies, you are correct. My reliable source at the bar last night quoted some guy who'd been on loan at 4 clubs but must not have been Croatian. No idea who he was on about.

Anywho, still got lots of representatives left!

He's probably talking about Pasilic. Had a few loans and has a few caps for Croatia but didnt make their world cup squad.

Mario Pašalić I think, but he's not at the world cup.
