If Jones was not made of glass he would be the best CB in the league, do you agree?
He'd be very good and he's underrated but injuries have taken a physical toll on him. He's also horrendous on the ball but at least he knows it.
But injuries are his problem and always have been. So it's irrelevant.
Even the great Sir Alex compare him to Duncan Edwards maybe a little flattering but then the injures.
He has no common sense so I doubt it
Is too poor in the air for me, even without the injuries and the brain farts to be that good.
He also played Rafael in midfield over Pogba. Even the best get things wrong.
Could've been United's greatest ever player...
No. His judgement lets him down far too often and he ends up having to make dangerous recovery challenges as a result. That's one of the reasons he's injured all the bloody time!
Jones could have really benefited from playing more alongside the old stagers during his developmental years. Rio and Vidic leaving so close together and not being replaced by a proper, experienced leader, really hurt him.
He be among them.
And Capello compared him to Baresi.
I'd take the opinion of Fergie and Capello pretty seriously. They created arguably two of the greatest defensive units in history. I think they know a thing or two about defenders.
One man's opinion can be wrong. But two experts agreeing with each other presents a strong argument.
I think Jones is right up there.
Not even close
This claim has become a myth.
No. He's average at best.
Not now. Injuries have taken their toll and he has lost a yard of pace.
At imitating halloween masks, yes.
He's English and makes funny memes.
Not hipster enough.
He's pretty good when fit. He was excellent in the first half last season. Our best defender in that period. Not the best in the league but up there if he wasn't a crock.
It's like asking if Fellaini would be the best midfielder if he had a normal haircut
He'd be better regarded, but not dramatically better
If he did not have any injury problems from the very beginning of his career? Probably, he was immensely talented.
If he suddenly stops getting injuries from now on and plays week in, week out? No, but he would be a solid player.
Impossible to know really how good he could have been. He's also 26, so he might have his best years still ahead of him or he could have more injuries.
He's not that far off though. Which has more to do with how many decent CBs there are instead of great ones. Not one is close to Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry or Carvalho.
NO but in capitals. 7 years and people still deluded with him. Must be quite a charm he is.
Even when fit, he is very injury prone and at the moment can do dumb things which cost goals.
I thought that was an old thread getting bumped. How are there people asking such question in 2018 ?
Ramos will be remembered as greater than any of them, but for different reasons. Pique on level with them. Godin is as good as any of them was, as is Thiago Silva. Would have said the same for Bonucci until last summer.
NO but in capitals
Thread is about the league, not all around Europe.
Ramos will be remembered as greater by those who have no clue.
No I dont think so. Top couple maybe like Smalling.
In that case, I agree (thought to be fair, those 4 you mentioned were also among the best in Europe, Rio probably a top 3 CB of last decade). Vertonghen and Alder are arguably the best, but nowhere as near as those 4. Kompany was quite good, Laporte can become great, maybe Bailly and Sanchez too.
No. Maybe if he had developed as he should have done, but the player we're left with now doesn't have the brain to be the best.
Is this a serious thread?
Matey, you're an American! No surprise seeing you not rate him.
It's a comedy thread
Steady on now. Nobody who knows what they're talking about thinks Ramos is better than Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry or Carvalho. Madrid fanboys and FIFA gamers maybe.
Separate names with a comma.
