...."What does the Swedish media do? They defend me or do they jump on and attack me? They still attack me, because they cannot accept that I am Ibrahimovic.
"If another player would do same mistake I do, they would defend him. But when it comes to me, they don't defend me.
"This is about racism. This is about racism. I don't say there is racism but I say there is undercover racism.
"This exists, I am 100 percent sure. Because I am not Andersson or Svensson. If I would be that, trust me, they would defend me even if I would rob a bank. They would defend me, I tell you."...

He's probably the best player to come from Sweden so he should be lauded.

Yeah I did read, I just never took notice that he doesn't have a traditional Swedish name etc.

Whilst I agree that people with a foreign name have to work twice as hard to make it and that predjudice is a big issue in in Sweden, I don't fully agree with his attack on the Swedish Media. Zlatan is a God here, we're always on TV when he plays, his name is all over newspapers and other media outlets and it's mainly positive. Yes you get the odd negative article but on a whole I'd say it's mainly positive.
Would people have preferred him to be ethnic Swede? Yes
Is he still by far the most popular athlete in Sweden? Also yes, his achievements made that possible.

Immigrants in Sweden are forced to work double shifts by their employers for the same salary as ethnic Swedes, or what do you mean exactly? There's no substantiality behind that kind of bullshit statement at all. Typical victimization complex.

If it was such a big issue then why do adult Afghan men in their 30's receive asylum without questioning because they are claiming themselves to be under 18? Prejudice? It's the opposite. There's not enough prejudice. That's why Sweden can't defend itself against predatory asylum seekers.

If anything his immigrant background has helped his off pitch career in Sweden. I doubt he'd make this much marketing money if the Swedish media (which isn't even owned by Swedes by the way) didn't rhetorically blow him 24/7.

Zlatan was a great footballer, but his personality was always that of a turd. It doesn't surprise me that he'd show it one last time before his dying football career makes him irrelevant to international media. Good riddance.

What does he mean by 'they attack him'? The thing with Ibra is that he's so cocky and arrogant that a lot of people simply won't like the guy. He's also past it as a player and I don't think he can handle this reality.

If it's this criticism that he sees as undercover racism then he's very wrong. Rooney went through similar, hero to zero. The media and supporters don't hold back with their opinions.

Immigrants in Sweden have it harder than ethnic Swedes and that's a fact. There are plenty of articles about how a lot of employers dismiss people based on their names, I didn't write these articles.

Yes there is prejudice in Sweden whether you like to admit it or not, me being a bearded Middle Eastern can attest to it. Your Afghan men comment there is an argument used by, let's use the word, immigration sceptics which tells me all I need to know about your political views.

His background didn't help him achieve shit, his talent and hard work did. I already said the media is mainly positive towards him. His personality is shit yeah? I don't think you know the difference between personality and persona. We don't really know how Zlatan is as a person.

I'm willing to bet the a large % of Swedish people wished his last name was Andersson, would be much easier to digest than:

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic
All time leading top scorer for the Swedish NT
Best player to ever come out of Sweden

Someone has been listening to Trump's propaganda far too much. The statement "there's not enough prejudice" is seriously fecked up on so many levels that one wouldn't know where to start! You're far worse than the people Zlatan is complaining about that you wouldn't look out of place one bit on Stormfront.

Not sure Zlatan is appreciating his status here. First of all he’s a god in Sweden, as well as in Norway where I come from - we appreciate him as a Scandi given our lousy International team without any players close to being the real deal. Every Championship (Norway is never competing) many or us go for Sweden just because of Zlatan.

He has lived most of his adult life outside Sweden, so not sure what he is talking about. He probably had a rough start growing up poor in a crappy neighborhood, but that goes for a lot of people around the world. He bangs on about Svensson/Andersson, which is ironic given the fact that his iconic Zlatan-name has always helped his brand and persona for 20 years.

If anything, the xenophobic tone in this post adds credibility to Zlatans point.

Right, immigrants really do have to do double shifts for the same pay as Swedes. Blame the Swedes.

I am not the one who says shit like "immigrants have to work twice as hard to succeed" which between is the same thing as saying "Swedes only have to work half as hard as immigrants to succeed".

Nice catch 22. If you agree with Zlatan he's right, but if you don't agree with Zlatan he's right as well.

    1) That is a lie. Afghan men in their 30s are questioned and deported en masse. Those around 18, in the span 16-20, are also questioned but clearly much more difficult to age determine. This is based upon the Geneva convention and has absolutely nothing to do with Zlatan’s claims.

    2) Are you actually encouraging people to be more racist on a multicultural forum? Look at you, sitting in a semen-infested room and acting all tough on the internet.

No, it just means that to even get to an interview, you need to jump more hurdles because your name, your look or your address will give you negative points from the start.

Swedish wife, Swedish names for his two sons. He's done his homework in blending in quite nicely despite his unexpected character. Besides he's paying taxes bigger than politician's salaries, he can complain from time to time.

...but Zlatan loves when critics are dancing for him so why are they still taking the bait ? The guy bought church in Stockholm for shits and giggles and people still don't get it.

I think this is a bit silly though. Zlatan must have been the most mentioned person in media for the last 15 years or so in Sweden and as for football it have pretty much only been about him. 99% of it have also btw been positive (sometimes you’d think he actually couldn’t play a single bad game from what you hear from the media) so if someone for once criticize him a little I think he shouldn’t be so fast to go out and pull the racist card.

    Anyway he’s still the king.

Don’t see where Zlatan mentions politics, just the media? Other facts: Sweden is one of the most racially tolerant countries, 2/3 of parliament is far-left as well.

Why can't you understand ? In your post you are taking a very defensive stand in favor of who I'm guessing you precieve as "your people". Your whole tone of going full 180° on a sentence that in itself is more true then false pictures you quite frustrated and therefor posters said that your posts give Zlatans view credibility.

In probably every developed country it is far easier to succeed when you are a native, "pureblood", and this is first hand true for swiss, austria, germany, belgium, every balkan country and many more that I've heard of... Its not about work hours even, its the fact that you have to give much more of yourself and be more efficient to get a job/raise/advance or even just to keep your own job. There are many (bosses, firms) who act fairly but that doesn't excuse the rest.

    I know, I live here.
To say that prejudice doesn't exist through is a myth.
I never claimed that this is Apartheid but prejudice is real.
See that's the issue, it's not something we want to talk about. We'd rather hide behind "Sweden is one of the most open countries in the world"

Nah I am from Sweden and he gets defended a bit too much I think. Like Rooney in England as we all know here. I think what Zlatan might not be able to deal with is going from special treatment to facing people actually not defending him as much since he has not performed that great anymore. His personality a lot may not have liked, but it is first now he get football related questions against him.
