Fine young player. Just not quite good enough at the end of the day, I guess.

Pity, was hoping he'd make it here.

Never thought he was good enough. As cover for Evra at left-back he may have had a few chances, but once we signed Buttner that route into the first team squad was shut down. He'll be a decent premier league player at some point, somewhere. Nothing more.

His only hope would have been as a left back. It was clear he'd never make it at United as a winger.
I wouldn't say it was clear mate, he's always impressed me in the reserves, was playing with lads a good year older then him at times, which makes a difference at that level, he's technically astute, works pretty hard, and is decent overall, is by no means a finished article.

To be fair, I'm very biased as I want another Irishman at Old Trafford.

From what I saw of him (Limited as it was) he seemed very very quick but with not much end product and not the best of defenders so he would be an ideal LDM rather than a LB or LW, but wish him all the best, I couldn't see him making it here for a while now tbh.

It seems pretty clear that he won't make it here, since we're selling him.

I think that's probably the crux of the issue Jake lad.

Good luck to him. Looks like he's cemented his position as a wingback in Bruce's 3-5-2 formation there. 2m is a good fee for him and I think there'll be loads of addons.

When they say Sky Sources understand with respect to unheralded players they're pretty accurate.

Yeah, they may not get everything right but cmon they are like 57474745747 times better than the Sun.
No I don't think so! Atleast the sun has page three. You don't see any of the ladies on sky sports news get theirs out. :(

Hopefully a good move for all parties. Only ever watched him play in preseason and he never struck me as anything great, so not upset to see him go at all. Best of luck to the lad though, hope he has a decent career.

My impression was that he is very talented, but he seems to lack a bit of pace to be a LB or LW at United. He probably has enough pace for a midtable Premiership side I expect. He should have a solid career elsewhere.

Lack of pace hurt Gibson and Berbatov as well despite their manifest gifts.

Making wide reaching statements about where young footballers will end up is pointless. You've no clue as to where he'll end up or what he'll achieve.

Fair enough if he wasnt up to it but thats hardly the case here...

If he is up to it, why are we getting rid?

He's not good enough for United, that much is clear. I've said he'll probably play in the Premier League, i'm hardly ruling him out. He'll never play for a top 4 club after he leaves United, though, because he's a level below that standard.

Oh, you're Irish, aren't you? Figures.

If United are cashing in now I wonder if the money will go towards someone like Zaha?

You're not exactly someone Ive seen ever comment on him in the reserves forum. I think I'll trust the opinions of the likes of Mujac who attend games etc.

The fact that hes broken into the National side under Trap say a lot for him.

He'll play for Ireland every game as long as he plays regularly for a club. Got to be in his thoughts.
Exactly. He is playing first team football for a very useful Hull side chasing automatic promotion. He is a first teamer every week and is performing well if you read the Hull forums. Trapp has told him, and been public, that he has to be playing football for him to figure for his country.

FWIW I'd have liked to have seen what he might have been able to do in our first team after the successful loan spell. He may well have thought here is my chance to kick on.

Fergie may well have told him he needs to be patient, and he now has a taste for football at first team level and wants more. Ollie Norwood did it afterall. We don't know. Very talented player and hope he does well. There are many reasons he might not be here anymore other than 'Not good enough'. Pique and Rossi ring any bells? Neviller might well be right...perhaps Fergie thought he wasn't quite there and never would be. Not quite as simple as that mind...

So because I don't comment means I don't watch? I don't think i've ever commented on Vidic in his thread either, but i've seen him play a few times.

I watch all the youth and reserve games on MUTV, I won't profess to have the in depth knowledge of Mujac who goes to every game, but i've seen enough to have an opinion that he'll likely make it to a Premier League team, and probably play regularly for Ireland, but that I don't think he'll ever hold down a place in a title challenging/Champions League team. He is a level below.

Saying he'll probably end up a decent premier league player isn't exactly decrying him as shit and never likely to make it. Getting a move to the Championship means he's already going to be playing at a decent standard.

You Irish boys seem to get a bit butthurt when someone doesn't overly rate one of your players.

he'll defo be a midtable premier league player and one of the better ones. On his debut for the Irish senior team he was one of the better players so I think he will be a player along the lines of a more skillfu pienar at Everton that is never afraid to defend too or maybe a more skillful version of McClean at sunderland.

Sir Alex didn't see it in Scholes at one point. Don't think Gary Neville had the confidence of all the coaches...but aside from that being irish has nothing to do with it. It's just a wonderful bonus....

He'll be a Premier League footballer in a couple of years, and it won't be with Hull.

Still, not a bad move for him.

Was his debut for Ireland not against Oman or someone, were they even full time professionals? I would be very surprised if he became as good as Pinear, he is an excellent player.

Good luck to him. He will end up back in the PL in my opinion. Should get plenty of international games over the next few years.

United don't get it wrong with youth players, Rossi, Pique and Pogba all wanted to leave. Fergie and the coaches have got it spot on when letting young players go, they know what they're doing.
