some first class revisionism going on here.

A lot of people seem to forget Nani on top form is the best winger in the country

He's had a bad season, but has had long spells injured, people seem to forget that small aspect.
And how often is he on top form? Even in his best season for us, he was really hit-and-miss on some games. We all thought he's going on to something great the next season, but two seasons on he's still pretty much stagnant.

In fact, looking back at 5 seasons ago when we bought him and Anderson, its pretty obvious that they have progressed little. Its very disappointing really.

Nani is a frustrating player.

Undoubted talent. He can be world class and worse than a lower league player in equal measure.

Good to see him starting today. Watched the highlights of the match at the emirates in 2010 yesterday on espn classic. Nani was unstoppable.

He always seem to do well against Arsenal so it seems like a good choice. I hope he signs a new contract.

This is the fixture that somewhat saved his United career before. Will we see a repeat here?

Tbh it was only just recently he was selected to play against Real and Chelsea in the cups. I would imagine there is some desire to keep him.

He doesn't need a fixture to change his United career IMO, he could just sign the contract he's been offered and his future wouldn't be in doubt. All the speculation has been created by Nani's own actions.

He's our best winger by such a distance. Selling him and keeping Young & Valenica is embarrassing.

Hes had a good half, if you take into account his lack of playing time recently. Looking dangerous an linking up well with Evra. If only the team attacked down the left more often considering the penalty and our best other chance came from that side.

When he's playing like this he's great. I've never wanted him to be sold, so I hope he keeps this up for the last few games and has a great year next season if he stays.

Solid first half from him, created two or three good chances, but I can't believe how didn't he get foul in that situation when both Ramsey and Arteta fouled him.

He's literally our only winger that can beat a man...And we're selling him.

Oh well, at least Valencia & Young 'work hard' eh?

Firstly we don't know for sure that we are selling

Secondly it seems that the problem is related to contract p

I don't know how much you can read into it, but Fergie was insistent on clapping Nani's hand and patting him on his head as he was subbed off.

We would have had scored more goals if he had the same number of opportunities Valencia squandered at the death to put in a cross.

Can't believe he got subbed, and Valencia still stayed on

Not really surprising, he hasn't played too much lately, so his fitness isn't probably at best level.

Like I said the fact that he was picked to play against Real and Chelsea in the cups suggests to me that things aren't beyond repair, Fergie has mentioned before that they know he's a talent and today was a great example of what he can offer. The movement between him, RVP and Rooney was really good at times in the second half and that's something I think would really add to our game. Hopefully they're just gonna wait to the end of the season and sort it out.

thought he had a good game and we looked well dangerous with him on the ball - made some nice runs that were ignored in the second half and a couple crosses were overhit to him.

not playing a lot lately prevented him from finishing the 90 which was a shame because Valencia tailed off badly.

Thought he was Ok today. Some good moments, some bad.

Needed to create more and get onto some crosses when he just stopped in the box.

Would be great if he played himself back into contention and earned a contract extension before the end of the season. Don't think we can rule that out.

How do we know the contract's still not on the table? Could be Nani's going to look at his options end of season. Depending on who comes in for him might be the thing that swings him. If it's a Russian club again or not a top club he'll want to sign.

Head and shoulders our best winger. If he is to go we should secure Bale first, then sell.

Think he's off. Was threatening today, and was surprised that he came off as he was one of our most dangerous players. He looked pissed when he was coming off and I don't really blame him. A shame really, so talented but we never fully trusted him.

Something tells me we will sell him to Arsenal.

Other than that there is clearly something wrong between him and Fergie. When Nani was coming off he didnt look intrested in w at Fergie had to say to him.
could be because Nani thought he was having a good game, one of the few times hes been on the pitch and really didn't want to come off. He was fading a bit stamina wise so it made sense to get him off, he did himself no wrong with his game today imo and Fergie was keen to applaud him.

HELLO
I love that narrow out to in run he makes in games, unlucky not to get in on goal a couple of times from it.

We are a lot more watchable when he's on his game I think. He's up there with our most gifted players for sure, probably in the top two or three even.
