Confirmed by staff on Twitter, official confirmation imminent. £27.5m is the fee confirmed by Everton.

Manchester United is delighted to announce the signing of Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini from Everton for an undisclosed fee.
Marouane, 25, from Etterbeek, Belgium, joined Everton in 2008 and has made 163 starts and 10 substitute appearances for the Merseyside club, scoring 32 goals. A full Belgium international, he has 42 caps and seven goals since his international debut in 2007.
Manchester United manager David Moyes said: “I have worked with Marouane for five years and I’m delighted he has decided to join Manchester United. He is a player with great ability and strength and I think he will make a real difference to our squad.”
Marouane Fellaini said: “I am thrilled to sign for Manchester United. I have known the manager for many years now and I have a lot of respect for his way of working. When I was given the opportunity to work with him again, I jumped at the chance. I had a fantastic time at Everton and I’d like to thank all the fans and staff there for everything they have done for me. But being a Manchester United player is something that every player dreams of and I believe that I can make a real contribution to the team’s efforts to win trophies in the future."

I'm not particularly happy. But welcome Fellaini. Why we didn't sign him few weeks ago is beyond me.

Absolutely fantastic way of planning things out !

We signed a second choice player on the last minute of the deadline day for £4.5 Million more than his release clause which expired a month ago. So we paid more and we got less in fact, Brilliant !!!

Absolute genius !

Probably our least exciting £20m+ signing ever.

Glad we'e signed Fellaini, always wanted him

But we should have had this sorted a month or so ago, complete joke. We were always likely to get Fellaini given the sustained interest and we've ended up pissing away almost £5million and missing him for games against Pool and Chelsea. Awful way of doing business

People have questions to answer seeing as though we paid £4m more than his buyout clause and into the season which didn't help either. At least we've got him in, though.

I'd normally be annoyed at the fee but it feels like a relief. Is it all up front, no installments or anything?

Glad we got him but why wasn't this done earlier?

He'll prove a lot of people wrong on here, IMO. Criminally underrated.

We need to take a look at ourselves. Not the player I've wanted but looks like the player we've got. Our dealings were pretty poor in this one. If we were so interested we shouldn't have waited so long and ripped ourselves off.

He'll be useful to us though.

If I exhibited such poor planning and deal making in my job I'd have to tender my resignation the following morning. I will never understand for the life of me why people wait till the last minute to get serious about business. It's like a bunch of high school kids procrastinating over a project as opposed to very highly paid professionals.

If we manage to get McCarthy deal sorted then we have played this superbly.

In terms of Fellaini i'll take a keen interest in his career at United. I'm one of the few who think he will be a success at the club, and after what he has given us he deserves it. Good luck to him.

When did people become so obsessed with what we did or didn't pay?

Welcome to the best club in the world Mr Fellaini.

We offered £28m for both Baines and Fellaini but end up paying nearly the full fee for one player.....Woodward better have answers!

Anyhow, Fellaini welcome to United.

Our 3rd highest record transfer fee, for a player who had a release clause for £4m less than the final fee..

he'll improve the team, but feck me the Glazer's new boy is making us look like a joke. This summer has demonstrated the kind of incompetence at the top that can demoralise everyone involved in the club, and then the rot really sets in and then you're PL era Liverpool. Sort it the feck out.

Over priced and only papers over the cracks in our midfield. Still, considering how the rest of our summer went, we're lucky we managed to get him in at all.

Well done for the club for not only paying £4.5m more than we had to but also putting a massive pressure on Fellaini thanks to an exaggerated price tag and not even giving him the time to bed in and have some pre-season with us. Letting him know that he was like 4th choice in the meantime was a good job too.

I hope he does well, he's a good player and all.

A month or so ago I would have been delighted if you told me that we'd keep hold of Rooney and Nani and add Fellaini, but frustrating that it took so fecking long and looks like we might have overpaid too.

When did people become so obsessed with what we did or didn't pay?

Welcome to the best club in the world Mr Fellaini.
Because the fact that we didn't just pay out his buyout clause mean a) he's not our first choice and b) he didn't get to have a pre-season.

So fecking underwhelming signing. Hearing the Coentrao deal has fallen through as well. Useless twits the lot of our executives.
