Am I the only one happy we signed Fellaini?

yeah fair enough we could have got him cheaper, but ffs guys we were clearly trying to target other players first and didnt want to wrap this up by 31st July. Now stop all being spoilt, were champions and we've improved the team and lets just be happy that we finally signed someone.

Wut? Stop being a top read, GM. Surely you can see that today has been a clusterfeck of epic proportions. And 27.5m? 27.5m? If we had offered that two weeks ago, then we wouldn't have been in this position. I'm scratching my head here.

Yeah, we were busy chasing Cesc fecking Fabregas who never wanted to move. That's no explanation.

Not by very much. I don't see Fellaini's helping us push for the Champion's League, but he'll be a useful addition to a squad that should push for the title anyway. Our best business this window was holding on the Rooney and Nani, but it irks me that we chose to fork out extra for Fellaini instead of Herrera.

I've never seen this club have such a shambolic and silly Summer before. £27.5m for Fellaini after some of the bids we've put in for far better players this Summer. Unbelievable.

I think he'll be another Young, quite frankly. Everton was his level. Hope I'm proven wrong.

Agreed. I think he might be better than Young but totally agree that he's not a first choice midifelder at a top club and if you're spending that sort of money on someone then they either need to have the quality to become a top player, or already are a top player. He's neither and just shy of being 26. Suppose though it's better to get him than noone. Honestly though once the Fabregas bid went down, we should have tried De Rossi for around £12m. Expensive but a top solution for a few seasons.

I think Fellaini will be your Carroll, insane money for a limited player.

On paper your squad should be grand, keeping Rooney is as good as a transfer in IMHO. Moyes needs to use Kagawa and realise he has a squad of players unlike a first team as he had at Everton.

Looks like we really cocked up the Herrera deal.....

No Utd move for Herrera

Monday, September 02, 2013 - 09:11 PM
Manchester United’s shambolic transfer window dealings seems to have taken another downturn after reports emerged in Spain tonight that their attempt to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera had failed.

United officials arrived at La Liga headquarters in Madrid tonight, apparently to meet the clause in Herrera’s contract that would allow the 24-year-old to complete a move to Old Trafford.

However, they were unable to complete the formalities and left without lodging the payment.

Although it was established they had an additional hour to conclude the deal providing a Deal Sheet with the signature of both clubs and the player was submitted to the Premier League, it seems they have been unable to complete the purchase.

It means United are now left to rush through the transfer of Marouane Fellaini from Everton as their only summer purchase of any note.

Although the Belgian is a top quality player, tonight’s events, which also included claims of a failed bid for Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira, will not reflect well on either new manager David Moyes or in particular executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

You are dead right sadly. Our actions this window are arguably worse than Liverpool's Carroll/Downing disaster.

Unbelievable buy, but price is weird though... Who cares, we've signed a top midfielder.

OFFICIAL: Manchester United sign Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao on loan

Manchester United have secured Real Madrid winger Fabio Coentrao on a season long loan.
The 25-year-old’s name had not been mentioned at all in this transfer window but David Moyes has brought in a left back after missing out on Leighton Baines.

Happy we got him, definitely not happy at 27.5m, nor what absolutely everything else has looked like today.

feck off. Will support him and at least we have cover for Carrick but the way we've gone about this deal has been embarassing. He had a fecking release clause for 24 million and we weren't willing to go for him but we feck around and wait until the last second and spend more then that. Unbelievable.

You're...going to love me
We finally did it, we finally signed a midfielder. By all accounts, signing him for more than his buyout clause a month ago, it's been a mess but I'm just happy we've finally got someone in.

Pleased we got Fellaini, good player, and a midfielder. Will improve us.

Disgusted beyond belief that we paid £4 million more then we needed too though. Utter joke.

Agree.... I don't really give a shite if it was £27 or £27billion, makes no odds to me at all how much the club spends. The money bandied around these days is beyond ludicrous.... may as well be monopoly money.

Unnecessarily overpaying tarnishes what could be a very good signing for us. We can't judge Fellaini on that, that was out of his control and we have to give this guy everything we can to make sure he succeeds. He's coming into an area of the pitch which is as stale as it's ever been, I really hope he grabs the opportunity and has a long successful career with us.

I'm surprised we've done this deal considering the incompetent fools that seems to run things now.

£27.5m for Fellaini - this is a fecking joke. Is this April fool's day? I just can't believe it, this is even worse than the Berbatov deal. I think a toddler is responsible for our transfer deals, there's no other sane explanation for this.

In any other job, if you lose £4 million quid by 'fannying about', you get sacked. Simple.

Just unbelievable, the extra £4.5 million we wasted through not paying his buyout clause could have went to the Herrera deal that we've penny-pinched over. Not to mention they both could have had a pre season with us and helped us in the very tough start to the season we had where we've fallen behind all our rivals in the table.

Looked like we'd got no one at 11pm so it's better this than nothing but doesn't excuse the imbeciles in charge of our transfer dealings who have cost the club money and could have potentially cost us points and trophies this season by failings to land the 2nd midfielder that Moyes wanted since he came in.
