whoever goncalo lopes' sources are, they really dont seem to be doing him much good. the dante one was laughable. Maybe we did put in a late bid for cesc. It's very confusing though because seems like different journos are getting different perspectives. With Ducker being close to United, he's reporting info from the club but you would think if we did submit a bid, he would know.

Why not just bring in players that want to be here? To be fair, we've heard a few times now that van Gaal has said not to bother with players that don't want to be here. It's just the fans that would rather see us buy our way back to the top. Doesn't sit right with me.
The days of players wanting to play for a particular club are long gone my friend. Do you think yaya toure and sergio aguero give a shit about wanting to be at city, Do you think Robben had ever heard of chelsea? Its a practical and a logical world out there. Football is a profession and a very competitive one at that where life of profession is short and the glamour just keeps on increasing and for a footballer to maintain a very high level of income after retirement is impossible. So they earn what they can and go to clubs they dont want to. Messi loves barcelona, but becomes sad as soon as someone becomes the highest paid in the world. Rooney loves united and wants to play for us but he gets angry and confused at not being the main man. Its the ego stroking and the money that talks.

David beckham wanted to be at united but he couldnt, so what? life goes on, in the end its all about profession and playing to your best and earning more money. Just like a doctor or a teacher (the difference being these professions have huge life compared to football). Even in case of cesc, do you think he even wants to be at chelsea? No way he would only want barcelona or even madrid, but he wont get that and now he will maake what he thinks is the best professional choice.
Now can united make him an offer which convinces him to make us that choice is the question.

Well I disagree, to be honest. I think I just look at it in a completely different way so I doubt we'll agree on this. We're not comparable to pre-success Man City. Every other big club manages to bring in players easily that don't kick up a fuss or start bidding wars. Players that clearly want to play there.

No what's embarrassing is that people believe gimps like Tancredi Palmeri and then slate the club based on their false information.

this is a good post but one factor I think you are missing out re: cesc is family too. His girlfriend, daughter, grandparents and i believe some other relatives are all in london. Obviously he has more than enough money to get everyone to up and move to manchester. But if they are all settled and happy in London, why force them to move when there's a club there where you can get good money and play competitive football. Just saying to reiterate the point it's not always about money.

You're embarrassed because one of the biggest clubs in the world, the most successful club in Britain who have won more than anyone else in the country over the last 5/10/15/20/25 year period, with some of the best players in the world have apparently, according to some bullshitting journalist have apparently put in a late bid for a fantastic midfielder?

This is embarrassing? Or are you?

We ll have to disagree, I am not saying we are pre-success city. City even after their success of past few seasons wont want players playing for them, yet will sign many players due to their cash power. United when they are in champions league and pay accordingly will be able to pull stars. You have to see berbatov and van persie as an example. The thing is without Champions legue and big money, even if a player wants to play for a club he wont because his professional career is more impotant. Look at inter milan and AC milan, one won the treble and other is a giant inthe

Cesc's girlfriend tweeted/instagramed messi's better half "I ll miss you". I think she stays in spain and this also shows she would rather live their. I do get your point, but hey add another 50 k p/w and you will see that money does talk. Its the simple strategy yaya uses every time to get a new contract. carlos tevez left with his family to italy, it happens all the time. I think family factor is played in too much. Vidic's wife did not want to stay in manchester but well he would have ended his career here if it wasnt for moyes.

Late bid for bale which was leaked into the media by the club was embarrassing. Not embarrassing ie hiding behind the couch, embarrassing in the sense that the club you described stooped to that point. The way the club has dealt with transfers has been embarrassing, and not fitting of "one of the biggest clubs in the world".

This is the worst thing said today, and this is a day when Sepp Blatter accused the media of racism and someone told me "Rik Mayall died", so it's quite an achievement.

Well there are two sides to this story and the debate has been done alot, so i wont waste my time. I think he would have stayed, he was forced out by a ruthless fergie. I believe this story, fergie did it with others, he did it with beckham.

if money always talked then van persie would have gone to city. simples. she is not in spain. she lives in london. just because yaya uses does not mean the same rule applies for every other player out there.

No there isn't. Nobody who isn't mental has ever put the other side.
I think you are one of those people who just want to believe there can be only one right person and its them. Shame, i had thought all point of views are acceptable. Still anything that makes you happy.

At the end of the day it's hard to believe anyone. If they aren't making stuff up then they are just giving out info that the clubs involved have leaked to them.
That could be to drive the prices up or to force a player to make his mind up.

What a mess the last 2-3 pages have been. So many clueless journalists trying to act like they know something.

There's quotes at the time saying it from Beckham. I don't see how you can doubt it.
