Robin van Persie claims he has been playing in pain for the past six years after admitting to a new groin injury.
He was withdrawn from the Netherlands' friendly against Wales at half-time last week as a precaution and says the tightness he felt then was nothing new.
"I've been playing in pain for the last five or six years; every single game," Van Persie told a press conference. "I can't really think of one game where I didn't have a niggle or pain somewhere.
'I'm used to that. I know, together with the team and with the medical staff, how to deal with that. I'm the one who looks at that and manages that."
Van Persie, the Manchester United and former Arsenal striker, missed six weeks towards the end of last season with a knee injury and there was speculation he was not prepared to risk his fitness for former manager David Moyes - a claim that was denied.
However, Van Persie, who has managed more than 250 appearances since moving to England in 2004, insists the latest problem is not serious. "You can't really even call it an injury," he said.

I cannot recall ever seeing a goal like that. Anyone who has played the game knows how incredibly difficult that finish is. The execution, timing and everything was perfection.

Yep. Most players would attempt a chest and strike. Pure class.

one of those goals that's a real shock when it goes in
reignites this game just when you could see Spain seeing it out.

Certainly not looking too shabby here. Positive signs from him.

Absolutely world class player, RvP anywhere near his best is as good as any striker in Europe.

I know I biased but I honestly believe that when healthy RVP is the best CF in the world.

Thought he wouldn't show up but he has and with style. Fair play to him and that is why he is world class. That headed goal reminds me of his Villa goal except that was with his foot. Both similar in every part of them being absolutely perfect.

Think he showed again tonight that he is our number 1 player. Hands down.

I know it's a cliche which is usually said by some of the pundits we'll listen to during this World Cup, but he did look like a completely different player playing for Holland tonight compared to what he was like at a lot of times this season.

Forcing an error out of Casillas was enough evidence for me that he looked a different player. He did that chase down often under Sir Alex but those little things crept out of his game as the season went on in 13-14.

Interesting that when van Persie scores an exquisite goal for his national team, United fans do nothing but shower him in praise, but when Rooney scores an exquisite goal for the club they support, many only seek to find ways to bring him down and claim poor goalkeeping or luck.

That is the best header i've seen in my life. The second best header ive ever seen was also scored by RvP.

The most unothadox finisher in footballing history. There's never been a striker like him before.
