So does anyone know when Vidal is due back from Holiday... quite an important question considering the man himself has said that he won't think about his future until he is back from holiday...

They were knocked out by Brazil 2 weeks ago now, so I'm guessing a week or two more and he'll be back for pre-season with Juve?

"Juventus will begin their 2014/15 pre-season training on Monday 14 July, with the first-team squad, minus those on international duty, to regroup in Vinovo for the start of their summer preparations.

Antonio Conte and his backroom staff will welcome back the non-international contingent on the Monday, while those who departed the World Cup at the group stages are expected to return after 20 July."

I think you would be right. The FIFA/FIFPro model contract says three weeks break minimum. Most clubs give them a four week break if they can. Serie A kicks off on the 31st August. The complication would be that he may still be being treated as recovering from injury so he might be on a slightly different schedule.

In any case - no way is he "not thinking about his future" unless he's already decided where he wants to be after his holiday.:D

Conversely, where would this rank as our failures?

1) Sniejder
2) Alcantara
3) Ozil
4)Vidal
5) Moura
6)Hazard
7) Kaka
8) Ronaldo
9) Hargreaves 2006
10) Hererra 2013
Not getting Ronaldinho when we lost Beckham sucked.

Truth like rain don't give a feck who it falls on.
Really? You'd put Kagawa ahead of RvN, DDG, Schmeichel, Ronaldo, Stam, Carrick, Berbatov and others? I'd struggle to even put him above Fellaini.
 Sorry, I respect your opinion and all but I really can't agree. When Kagawa signed we were ******* like crazy because of what we'd seen at Dortmund. When Fellaini signed we were pinching ourselves to make sure it was really happening and that it wasn't a joke. I don't understand how the signing of Fellaini was in any way exciting.

I think one of our biggest failures was not bidding for luka modric when he was at Tottenham. SAF said he was perfect to replace schools in the centre of the park and he was exactly what he needed at the time.

Kagawa was key part of an exciting Dortmund team. It's natural that some of us were excited at his signing. His subsequent performances for us are irrelevant. I didn't even know who was Ronaldo when he signed for us. Just remembered a goofy looking guy with cool (shit) hair.

I've been away for a couple of days. Any new developments on Vidal?
You missed some interesting quotes from the man himself. He said something along the lines of he doesn't know where he'll be playing next season and who wouldn't want to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

I'm sure you'll find the exact quotes online easily enough.

He was an exciting signing for me. It hinted of a change of style at United we've never had that type of player before. And at the time he was playing for the best club in Germany and one of the best players in the league.

I don't think this will happen. From the looks of things we have just about reached discussions with the agent. Dealing with juve is still left. It's just going to be one of those things which go on forever and then just go bust

Do Juventus have serious financial problems? If not I can't see why they'd sell him even if he wants the move. I am sure he won't put pressure on them to sell him.

Anyway, for me he is the best midfielder in the world and I'd only have Koke ahead of him (younger and no injuries), for me his signing would top any signing we have made since Roy Keane!

I highly doubt these are real quotes, and even if they were they've probably been taken out of context. Why would he be talking about his future at all when he is on holiday anyway?

I think it's more that they want to strengthen other areas of the team. They've just won three Serie A's on the trot, they want to get rolling in Europe. It also gives them room to improve other players' contracts.

Unfortunately it looks like you have to be in Chile to load the video though. Can't find it having been reposted anywhere else. Here's a picture, but doesn't mean a lot as it could be old:

Are you sure he wasn't talking about Juve when he said "one of the biggest clubs in the world"?

Can anyone who can speak Spanish watch the video of the interview and confirm?

Are you sure they even have organised leagues outside England?
The only 'competition' PSG have is Monaco. Who will probably lose their star player this year. German league? Only 1 team in it. Italy? One team. Spain? For the first time in a decade it wasn't just Barca/Real.

I'm not making any points about respective quality of the leagues, just that the PL is way more competitive.

I found that video on this Juve forum - http://forum.juventuz.org/threads/33210-Arturo-Vidal/page943
Two particularly interesting posts on there:
it kind of makes sense if you think about it.

in april, conte said that the club lacked the fund to compete in cl. then suddenly now we have 60 million plus to spend on morata and itrube?

smart thinking by conte using the money that is coming from the vidal sale before his actual sale so clubs dont charge us more
On the previous page there's this, which is from a poster with nearly 46k posts:
I'm from Chile and they are showing Vidal on TV now.

The journalist asked him if he's happy in Juventus and if his Chilean fans will watch him in black&white next year again. He replied: "I am very happy in Juve. I want to stay but that's up to the club. The financial situation in Italian football is very bad. I want to stay, I do, but if I were to leave I will do it only for a historically important club in one of the top 2 leagues in the world.
Then the journalist said: "Barca or Real?" Vidal replies: "Both are big clubs". Journalist: "United, Arsenal Chelsea and Manchester City?". Vidal: "Only one of them is a historically big club" and he smiled. PSG? "I said only Juve or top 2 leagues".

Bad news for us and good news for the United fans browsing this thread
Could be shit obviously, but thought it was interesting.

TBH the PL is soo bloody overrated its ridiculous.
Most of the top players in the world don't even play in it!
It's the most competitive top flight league, regardless of the quality. There's just more big clubs who believe they should be in the CL and have the resources to do it.

This is very important to many of the top players, to play against the very best.
EDIT: Saying that it is a very strong league, I just think maybe sometimes La Liga is more attractive to some players.

Neither Madrid nor Barcelona need a new mid but it wouldnt surprise me if they went for Vidal just for the sake of it.. Especially Madrid..

God I hope he said this. With Barcelona (Rakitic) and Real (Kroos, assuming it goes through) already strengthening their midfield this summer, fingers crossed that might see him join us. I'm desperately trying not to get carried away with it, but that's proving difficult!

Real surely don't need another midfielder?

Barca maybe do but does he fit their style? I don't think so.
I'm not worried with Madrid. They've basically signed Kroos and they'll spend the rest of the window trying for Rodriguez.

Barcelona will look to strengthen their defence with two CB's and Cuardrado is another they going for. So I can't see them shelling out €40M for Vidal.

You wouldn't have thought the Juve poster would have made it up - There's no reason to. Plus the quote is believable imo. It appeals to all sets of fans of Juve or any club he may move to.

The only thing that's odd about it as that we haven't seen this quote covered on a wider scale, like his interview in that youtube video has been.

He gets to play with some pretty good players at United :) Mata, RvP, Rooney. He may want to work with LvG. At the end of the day, nobody knows his motives, so we're all speculating.

I can agree the temptation of playing for Barca and Real is greater than us, since they have the real world class talent between them (Ronaldo, Bale, Messi, Suarez, Neymar). Perhaps he likes a more physical game? Who knows?!

I just hope he comes here! :D
