according to Mundo Deportivo
Also, Marca were reporting it couple days ago as well. The English papers reporting this are sourcing the Spanish papers.

He'll sign a fat new contract this season, he'll return to Spain eventually, but now is not the time.

Wouldn't expect anything less from Agent Dave. He is, after all, the best agent the club has ever known.

He loves playing for United, that is obvious. Coupled with the fact we will pay him an extortionate amount i'd say he isn't going anywhere for a long time (in football terms).

Shaken, and very stirred......
If Real Madrid really want him, they'll eventually get him, but I don't think untile after his next contract, which is also a bit of a pain since at that age he'll probably be in his prime as a goal keeper...

If we can continue to offer him the best financial package, I can't see any reason for him to leave. Since Woodwoodwood has said we are going to compete with Spain, buying Di Maria and the Falcao loan demonstrates that, I don't see why we can't continue to do offer him the best deal.

I'm certain that he'll sign a new contract - he'll get a big one. Then Real would have to cough up 50-60m if they want him..

Some papers are linking Petr Cech to Real Madrid in January. He's got a number of years left in the tank, so that would be good for them, and also for us.
that move would make a lot of sense - he and anchelotti have worked together before and would he be able to play in the cl (presuming he has not played for chelsea in the competition this year)

I would be a little shocked if a guy born in Madrid, who's played his entire youth career (2001-08) and first years as a pro at Atletico, would even consider going to Real.

It is crazy that he can potentially have another 10-12 years at the top of his game. That sort of longevity is incredibly rare in football, and therefore incredibly valuable. Get this man a nice big juicy contact immediately!

At 33 years, do you think that Casillas will leave Real ? If he accept to be the second choice behind Keylor Navas, I think he could stay at Madrid for ever. And a goalkeeper is a bit different to a player, look at VDS coming to us at 34 and being one of the best if not the best in the world.

Don't forget that navas was bought to Madrid with a high fee and will not sit on the bench for ever.

Go to Madrid and get booed/whislted at like Casillas when your in bad form or stay at United and become a club legend? Doesn't seem like a difficult choice to me.

That wasn't a high fee by Real standards, in fact it was basically free for them.

A lot of people on these forums bring up the "he wouldn't go to Real after being a boyhood fan of and playing for Atletico" argument. Is it that unlikely for him to play for them? Are there no precedents of former Atletico Madrid players eventually playing for Real Madrid in their prime?

Can't see it happening, he's United through and through now and has never shown even the slightest of interest in signing for any other big club. He might return to Spain in the twilight years of his career but we will get his prime.

You say he hasn't shown any interest in signing for any other big club, but It's not like his resolve has been tested on a serious level.
What do you expect him to do? Declare his love for clubs that haven't even shown proper interest in him?

He's clearly not a stirrer, and likes things in Manchester, so he wont force his way out at the drop of a hat though. I agree that unless something huge comes up, he's here to stay.

But It's possible for him to love United, while also like the idea of going back to Spain.

because we won't drop him if he is poor consistently?
Casillas was dropped by Mourinho because he was the dressing room mole, and while I think he's always been seriously overrated no player who has been such a good servant to a club deserves the type of treatment he's getting. Being booed and whistled by your own fans is shocking.

We should start focusing on signing players that are not "destined" to go to Real Madrid at some point.

Sanctity, like a cat, abhors filth.
Im sure he would play for Madrid if the opportunity arose but hopefully he wont push as hard for it as Ronaldo did.

Given our growing Spanish / Spanish-speaking contingent Im sure he feels quite at home at Manchester United right now. I think we'll have him for a good few years yet.

Valid point. I suppose the overall impression he gives indicates a love for the club, you don't spend half of the international break trying to convince teammates to join if he wasnt here to stay, he seems very, very happy at the club.
