When he is on his game he is unstoppable. Still can't believe Fergie and Gill pulled out for a few millions.
Ridiculous really when you think how much we had to spend on Di Maria to get a player of his quality. Hazard was expensive but well worth the money. I fear that tardyness over money was the reason we are in this position today.

How's he been in the league this season? He seems to be either brilliant or frustrating when I watch Chelsea.
For me this was the best game I've watched him this season but any other time I watch Chelsea he's frustrating as hell, capable of moments brilliance out of know where but mostly slowing down an attack or picking a worse option when shooting vs passing or visa versa. Needs to work on his finishing too.

An annoying player to defend against
God, he was good, but I'm not sure why everyone's creaming themselves over that performance.

The best thing he did all day was the run that ended with hitting the post. The finish? Well, I'd expect any good footballer to finish that. Other than that, it was a good performance from a talented player. Nothing, though, deserving of the adulation he's getting on here.

That's the dribble that you think is ''something else''? It's like there's a game going on in here where each poster tries to one up the previous one with praise for Hazard.

Yeah, that's nothing special. Only thing he done yesterday that I thought was "something else" was the little backheel flick to set up the shot for someone. Nothing else he did was out of the ordinary.

My biggest bug bare with Eden Hazard is that he is clearly capable of being in that under bracket beneath Ronaldo and Messi, yet he has phases where he strolls around and let's games or moments pass without effecting them when he so easily could.

There is no denying that he has wonderful talent, a great burst of acceleration, a clinical eye for goal, nerves of steel, an immunity to pressure and on his day can comfortably win matches in the Premier League against any side.

The issue is that there are many times, during games and in general where he simply looks disinterested to burst alongside Costa and offer a simple through ball option to score or make the most of the space in front of him and force an issue, instead he'll slow play up and dummy and jig but end up playing a ball to nothing. He just annoys me with the lethargical and disinterested approach he takes to many games. He should capitalise on his ability in more matches than he does, unquestionably, even though that is evidently improving of late.

Against Spurs he looked up for the challenge and it was a joy to see. He was vibrant and positive, there were less stop-start-do nothing moments and more attacking surges, incisive plays and general positivity from him. If that version of Hazard turned up most games, he'd be right up there with Aguero as the best in this league for me. Until it does, he's a wonderful player, capable of winning matches, just like Rooney can, but there will always be players better than him in my eyes.

Jose Mourinho has stirred the pot once again, as the Chelsea manager has endured a tumultuous week in the Premier League.

Chelsea were hammered 5-3 by Tottenham Hotspur on New Year’s Day, as they are now joint-top of the Premier League with Manchester City after dropping more points away at Southampton in a 1-1 draw on Dec. 28.

Following that game against Saints, Mourinho said there was a “campaign” against Chelsea following a booking handed to Cesc Fabregas for simulation by referee Anthony Taylor when it looked like the Blues had won a clear cut penalty.

Now, Mourinho is once again hitting out at the officials after their shock shellacking at Spurs to see in 2015. The Portuguese boss is worried that constant fouls from opposition defenders on Chelsea’s star man Eden Hazard could force the Belgian to move away from England.

“People in love with football in this country, people must be in love with Eden Hazard,” Mourinho said. “The way, match after match, he’s being punished by opponents and he’s not being protected by referees, maybe one day we won’t have Eden Hazard. It’s one, two, three, four, five, 10 aggressive fouls against him. They kick and kick and kick, and the kid resists. He’s a very honest guy in the way he plays, but that’s another problem.”

Hazard is in sensational form for Chelsea this season, scoring 11 goals and against Spurs he was a pest all game long despite the Blues conceding five times. The 23-year-old is attracting interest from Real Madrid and it seems as though Mourinho is worried Hazard may get fed up of being kicked all over the place week in, week out in the PL.

I get what Jose is saying but if you look at the Spanish league, it would be no different for Hazard if he moved there. The amount of times Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are scythed down during games is comparable. It is a fact that in any sport, you try to stop the oppositions best player any way you can and find ways around the laws of the game to do that. Hazard is “very honest” as Mourinho puts it, but playing in the PL means you have to be ready for the psychical nature of play.

This seems like yet another mind game from Mourinho. His conspiracy theories are starting to mount up, just as cracks start to appear in Chelsea’s title charge. Any coincidence there?

Maybe Mourinho should take a leaf out of his own book and stop instructing his teams to systematically foul opponents.

That was the first thing I thought too. Chelsea must be one of the worst (or best, if you take Gary Neville's view) teams in the league when it comes to cynical fouling to stop opposition counter attacks. A bit rich for him to be complaining about it himself.

Mourinho said:

I'll bet it is a problem. I'm guessing he doesn't dive enough for Mourinho's liking.

Fine, fine player. He reminds me of Robben when he's cutting in from the wing. It's like you know what he's going to do but it's almost impossible to stop him!

Every time he's my fantasy football captain you can guarantee he doesn't turn up with any end product.

Superstar. It's not fair that he is playing alongside Fabregas and Costa. What a dynamite combo of attacking power, those three cover all the bases and compliment each other very well.

The worrying thing is that he's still got loads of scope for improvement with regards to end product

Hazard is the type of player I'm usually of, but for some reason I just can't take to him. Maybe it's solely the fact he's a Chelsea player.

Even their club reps are better looking. Physio, now her. Sigh, we've fallen so far :wenger:
I would sign for Chelsea as a footballer just for that physio, injuries would be bliss

Such a cracking player. If he ups his end product, Chelsea will be laughing all the way to trophies for the next few years.

If he would be playing for us, this thread would have been full of Caftards saying how he only signed a new contract so that we get more money from Madrid.

Who the feck is that on the right?!
That's the one who made the Lukaku, Schürrle and de Bruyne deals. Maria something... russian/canadian... (there was a piece on her in german newspaper last year) finalizes all transfer deals for Chelsea ... and apparently the contract negotiations which was new to me.
