Wicked, will have to give this thread a watch over time. Used to be into grime quite a lot in my younger days, I laid off it in recent times (and music in general) but getting back into it again.

Can someone please tell me why all of the sudden, Grime has become almost a mainstream hype? I'm a DJ and use to play UK Garage and Grime back in the day but it kind of died when dubstep came up. I lost interest and started playing Techno instead. Still love grime though!

Classic DJ Slimzee & Dizzee Rascal :

Ghettz or JME. Devlin's early stuff is a big favourite of mine too. Or even English Frank.

Love this thread already!

Thank you

I listened to some English Frank, he is pretty cool.
His SBTV warm up sessions are great. As is his Fire in the Booth session.

Of his actual tracks I really like Goodbye. Really underrated artist.

Anyone watch SBTV?

Was massively into grime 5-10 years ago. Still some talent out there. Akala is one of my favourites of all time. His Fire In The Booth's are on another level.
The first part is my favourites (the first 9 minutes.)

Perhaps one of the best FITB ever.

Chip just isn't meant to be a rapper imo. He is a popstar and a pop star only as said by Bugzy Malone

Everything he put out after that freestyle has been pretty ridiculous. But that freestyle when he was new and fresh, it was solid. IIRC he was like 14, I thought he'd be big after that but he took a different route.

I love this video of the lot of them together, funny seeing Dizzee like this again too.

Old school ladies night on Westwood was big back then, fire from the start, Nya was off the chain but feck me NoLay and Leshurr just smashed it.

NoLay's Behind Barz is still one of my favorite freestyles, listen to it all if you haven't before.

Stormzy is an industry plant and Bugzy Malone is road rap IMHO.

Best young Grime dons about right now IMO:

Jammz:

Mez:

The whole set is fecked tbh, especially at 6 mins-ish, listen to it.

Faultsz:

Faultsz is probably better than Novelist, actually he is.

Cadell:

Wiley's little brother, enough said.

Which is why I posted them. Best way to keep up with grime is with radio sets to be honest, Spyro's Rinse Sessions on YouTube every week, Radar Radio Sessions etc. etc. also Grime Forum when the posters can be arsed is very useful.

My wit's end

The Bugzy Malone stuff is really good. I've never really listened to this genre before, but he's my favourite based on what's in this thread.

I recommend you listen to these:

Edit - Think the title of this thread should be changed to Grime/UK Rap.
