I think if Heskey and Kevin Davies played in a front three with Messi they'd bag a few goals as well. It does Messi a disservice when people talk about how great the three of them are, he carries that front line and entire team.

(I'm aware the other two scored tonight but whatever)

That's very harsh and doesn't give the other two the credit they deserve. Football is a team sport and while Messi is comfortably the best, the front trio all play their part in making it special. It's silly to just give one person ALL the credit even if he is th most influential.

Messi scores half the goals himself and sets the other half up. You could swap out Neymar or Suarez for half a dozen other strikers and they'd still score as many, you couldn't swap Messi for anyone. They're lucky to be playing with him.

Someone already said exactly this earlier in this thread and it's laughable how wrong you are. Suarez is a brilliant player (much as I hate to admit it) and was major reason why a Liverpool side used to finishing 7th got within a Gerrard slip of winning the league. He's had no pre-season and was injured before the World Cup, adapting to a new team and has still managed to score 25 goals and assist 21 in 43 games despite a slow start. Neymar dragged Brazil to the semi finals of the World Cup and has scored 39 goals this season. How many 23 year olds can say they've done that? Not many and he'll only get better from here unless he does a Ronaldinho.

The last line might be true but the rest is rubbish. If you swap Neymar for a lesser player you get less goals. How do you not see that logic?

I think Suarez played a big role this season. He has been unselfish and worked hard to close down players. Neymar still needs lot of composure, we could have killed games a lot early had he kept his cool and did the normal things properly. Needs to work on his passing, but he's very good for his age and have the ability to be in right time and place for an easy finish.

I'd like to see how well Barcelona would do having to play against him.

They will get better next year since Suarez will have settled in a year and won't have to contend with a suspension.

I don't know if they're the best ever, but the ability these three have on the ball is ridiculous. Barcelona have probably the three best dribblers in the world as their three front men, all of them consistently do things that most teams don't have anyone capable of doing.

Neymar nearly hit 40 goals this season. Nonsensical to suggest that Davies or Heskey would get anywhere near that; they'd perhaps score more in a very good Barca side, but would they feck get much more than 20 or so. And that's being kind. Plus you've got to remember that Neymar and Suarez's all-round games are ridiculously good compared to Davies and Heskey. Which goes without saying to anyone who's ever watched a minute of football.

Villa - Messi - Pedro is the best front 3 that roamed this earth.

Villa and pedro nothing special indivually but combined with barcas playstyle it was just impossible to defend and nobody ever played anything close tonwhat those 3 showed.

A few Barca supporters I've spoken to think that this current side is even better than the Guardiola side that dominated Europe. On paper you can't argue that Pedro and Villa are better than Neymar and Suarez, though I'd say the Xavi/Iniesta/Busquets trifecta was pretty much perfect

David Villa was a better player than Suarez. What he did for years at Valencia and Zaragoza and his early Barca period was incredible, I maintain he was the most criminally underrated striker of the 2000s.

Villa was never a better striker than Suarez. Suarez is an incredible striker, the best number 9 in the world for the last 2 years. Villa never reached that height.

There's every chance that they might be the best front three. 3 of the top 4 players in the world probably, with one being the best player ever. Even putting Ronaldo, the only player better then Suarez and Neymar currently, in for Neymar on the left wouldn't make them better. They just work perfectly together and have such a good understanding and work together.

Obviously Messi makes it all work, but that doesn't change how great it is.

For me, during 30 years of watching the game, yes they are definitely the best front 3 ever.

I think we can only discuss players we have been fortunate enough to watch. I've read all sorts of great things about Puskas, Hidekuti and Kocsis, as well as Best, Law and Charlton, and many others, so I can't claim the Barca 3 are the best ever. However, I'm not sure I've seen too many better front threes in my time.

So how come the same level isn't replicated when Messi joins up with Aguero and Di Maria? As great as Messi is, it's obviously more than just him that makes it work so spectacularly at Barca.

Nonsense, Heskey and Kevin Davies wouldn't get close to these numbers even if they had a team full of Messis around them. Suarez and Neymar are world class forwards, even if Messi did not exist they'd still be a formidable front line and would probably either win Barcelona Champions League or put them very near triumph.

The formula for winning the Champions League seems pretty simple in the last few years. Bring your tanks to the water fight.

Last three attacks to have won the Champions League.

Neymar - Suarez - Messi

Ronaldo - Benzema - Bale
-------Di Maria

Ribery - Mandzukic - Robben
------------Muller

And that's not including the incredible (attacking) full backs each of these teams have, who are essentially part of the attack. Attack is the way to go.

They're well on their way to be the best front three ever. They just need to sustain success for a couple more years. One season seems not enough for an assessment like that.

Err he most definitely did reach that height. Villa was the best striker in the world at a few periods in his career, and consistently in the top 3/4/5 for a decade.

Villa was as good as Suarez. He was less individually brilliant but had many more years of top level performances as compared to Suarez (so far). At their absolute bests I'd take Suarez but if not mistaken villa did it for a longer period.

They work brilliantly together and put the numbers up but it astounds me how many clear cut chances Neymar and Suarez miss. I simply cannot believe this is the best there has ever been.

More or less how I see it.

not much in it between them though. Villa was a magnificent striker.

It would be a bit nuts to have three players who are all great on the ball and ultra clinical, though? There would have to be a trade off in other areas to get someone more clinical than them. For example replace Suarez with villa in this side and you'd have a much more lethal striker but suarez' physique is very important for them as he can match defenders in that sense.

What I love about these three as that they are all matchwinners and all more than capable of carrying the mantle of being the main man and having to pull rabbits out of the hat to win a game for their team.
