Very surprising.
Not really.

Might as well include him rather than keeping the space vacant. Attacking options are thin as it is.

Anyway, still hope he gets a chance though right now seems a long shot.

I would have expected another youngster. Powell is still injured and i havent read a positive comment on him for 2 years now.

Below 21 (Wilson, Pereira, Mcnair etc..) are included in B list and eligible out of the 25 anyway.

Other than Lingard, Johnstone (Who is there instead of Valdes) there is no real youngster above 21 worth including. Varela is similarly also there.

Yeah it just highlights how light our squad is. 1-2 players more and these 2 shouldnt be there.

Forgot about him to be honest. It would be nice if he can show some of the promise he did in his first season with us under Fergie but he doesnt seem to be involved at any level at the moment.

He had so much talent and I was convinced he'd make it here but injuries and his attitude mean it probably won't happen. It will be a pleasant surprise if he does anything for us in his career.

The guy looked absolutely class for Crewe when he was like 17. I remember Chelsea were in for him too when we signed him. What the feck has happened to him? His attitude doesn't seem to be doing him any favours along with injury problems. Does anyone feel he could even make it as a PL player?

He's still only 21; there's a good footballing brain there.

No reason why he can't be a premier league player if he puts his mind to it. Not here though

I remember watching him when he was on loan at Wigan and they were in the Europa, he played as the striker at times and seemed very composed and confident, scored a few too, all down hill since then though, and I doubt unless his injuries and attitude have been sorted will be here much longer.

Yeah I watched a-bit of him at Wigan that season when they had that good FA Cup run. He played in a variety of positions and looked relatively ok up front. That loan was pretty successful but I've seen nothing of him since.

Simply because he has never played, a few run outs in the U21's, and disaster at Leicester, but on the up side he still only 21, and I'm sure Sir Alex said of him in his autobiography that he was nailed on to be a top player.

Yeah didn't he see him as a Scholes-esque player? Ah it was Leicester that he had a disastrous loan at, I couldn't remember. Well by several accounts, he appears to have a shit attitude. I guess he wouldn't be the first young player to excel in his teens and fail to push on. Wickham looked a star in the making at 16.

Not sure on that but he certainty said he would be top player, and a nailed on to make it at United , or words to that extent.

Maybe him been in is just filling a gap, but sure we had other options, and LvG doesn't strike me as the type of guy that would include him for the sake of it, maybe he's growing up and getting his down.

He had a good strike. But I feel his attitude and dedication lets him down.

Luke Shaw took a fitness coach with him on holiday. I just don't see somebody like Powell doing that. If he could get fitter and stronger, he would make it.

Surprised to see he is still around. With Adnan and Blackett out on loan, i believe he is just to make up the number.

Obviously he needs to be registered because he's still here (who know if we suddenly have 10+ injuries and need to play him?) and he hasn't stay at the club for more than 2 years (on loan not counted) so can't be put in the B list.People always read too much into these squad list while in fact they are just to get with the rules.

I didn't necessarily mean he said he's going to be as good, found the article: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/sep/16/alex-ferguson-nick-powell-paul-scholes

Yes, let's hope he will keep his head down and overcome his injury problems. If he impresses for the U21's then he might get a chance at some point, although I'm far from convinced. He's still young and has time to turn it around.

I saw Powell play a lot of L2 football and I've never seen a player stand out in their respective league as much as he did down at that level. I think the problem with him has been the suddenness of his rise from L2 to PL and he just hasn't been able to adjust. Perhaps a more gradual progression may have helped in this particular instance.

If he can sort himself out - could be another striking option for us. A really big season for the lad. He does have a good strike on him. Let's hope he surprises us this season.

It strikes me that part of the problem is that he hasn't really established what position is his best. It seems that Fergie saw him long term as a CM, whereas Powell played as a #10 for Crewe (I assume?) and then he played some games on loan at Wigan as a #9.

Also as @dogwithabone just alluded to; I have read similar stories about his mentality and how maybe he got too big for his boots after the move to us. I mean the kid was obviously a supreme talent at like 16/17 and moving at such a young age to one of the biggest clubs in the world is a major transition. Especially given the hype around him at the time.

I doubt we will see much of him this season more in to make up the numbers. A shame really as a top talent when we signed him, has he had a lot of injuries too or am I making that bit up!?

Anyway he may get a run out in League cup if we get some mugs in the 3rd round but saying that we had MK Dons last season and we were the only mugs in that game.

I remember him scoring an absolute worldie of a goal in his last game with Crewe in the playoff finals.

I wonder, should he have been loaned back to them, and played in League 1 for a season, rather than the huge jump.

Wow. That looks really bad. What TF happened to him to need surgery like that?
Looks nasty alright. I don't really know why he had surgery. I'm pretty sure he suffered a bad hamstring injury back around the start of the year though. Not really sure what happened with him after that.

Yes he was so good at Crewe, and for England at youth levels. He also looked quite promising on his first couple of outings for the United first team. Such a shame he hasn't kicked on since, and last season was a real low point. He looked way off the pace against MK Dons. Has all the ability to make it though, he really does, and he's still young enough if he can just get and stay fit and we can find him a loan that works.

That looks like he's had a new metal hammy inserted or some sh*t.

27 weeks wow, I think I need to start following him on twitter, follow every other Utd player, forgot about him to be honest!

Well maybe even the League Cup will be too early for him. I'm guessing he didn't go on loan again due to his injury.
Yeah it's a long time to be out. Not sure about his loan. Did Leicester terminate it as he wasn't going to get a game or was it a direct result of injury? For some reason I thought they terminated it before he got injured.

Against MK Dons was his first game back again from a longish injury.

And yeah he was the start of his England u19 team too. So much talent.
