Surely a case of a young lad unable to cope with either fame and or pressure of Utd

The glimpses we saw of him at first I thought was all very positive

Actually I think he has a cool head on his shoulders. Has just been really unfortunate with injuries.

Yes he was so good at Crewe, and for England at youth levels. He also looked quite promising on his first couple of outings for the United first team. Such a shame he hasn't kicked on since, and last season was a real low point. He looked way off the pace against MK Dons. Has all the ability to make it though, he really does, and he's still young enough if he can just get and stay fit and we can find him a loan that works.
He doesn't. He really doesn't. Not at United.

His talent is unquestionable. Injuries and lack of effort/mentality or whatever it was, killed him. He is still young, but i dont see him having a great impact in one year to cause us to prolong his contract.

A matter of opinion, but if you wind the clock back to when he was 18/19, he stood out in all the right ways. Not as a central midfielder, mind you, but as an attacking player. Has not gone anywhere since, but that's not all his fault. Even if you look at the loan spell at Wigan, he did pretty well for a young player.

The odds are always against a young player like that making to United level, but he had as good a chance as any a few years ago.

If he gets game time and gets on to the good side of LvG, he has a great composure and control to be a good player for us.

I agree, this was a punt that ended up being a severe waste of money at the end..
I always saw this as Sir Alex trying to make up for not being more forceful and signing Aaron Ramsey, which he probably came to regret.
Probably miles off, but that's how I interpreted this whole transfer.

I remember him getting lots of praise in those few Champions League games, where, personally, I thought he looked really lost. Obviously he was young but his technique looked really dodgy. Lots of over-running and over/under-passing.
I think he only comes alive near the box or when shooting. That's when he sometimes pulls out a nice touch. But his general touch and everything else is pretty 'meh' when he isn't gearing up to shoot.

I don't see much of a footballing brain, to be honest.

I thing he is more championship and league 1 standard..Man United is just too big a club, and I think the only reason we havent got rid is because he's injured..and that wouldnt look good on our part.

Still waiting for the Youthquake
By all accounts he was good at Wigan playing in a more advanced role... Last season was bad and of course he has had a serious injury
He might never reach his potential but equally the injury may have made him determined to make the most of his opportunity and he could come back and play his way into the first team
Time will tell but I hope we get to see him play this year be that in any dead cl ties or in the league cup
