I just wonder those who made the statement that he is not good enough, have actually seen him play or are simply copying the opinions of others who have not seem him play aswell and practise the youtube scout abilities to come to a conclusion whether he is good enough or not. Remember Martial ? A lot of people expressed their negativity that his youtube highlights were nothing to get excited about.
Its classic the caf. Its like shining toys, if it not the most famous toy, its shit.

I understand those who want immediate impact and seeing us going for established players, but which world class player is available ? none and besides Anderson could have an Martial-ish impact, who knows. Anyway, he is still a Lazio player and at this point we are only discussing a 'possible' target.

Non, and we should have known this and not left ourselves short on the right hand side in the summer, Anderson might have an impact but he also might not, and then that is another £30 million gone, as is any chance of getting a world class right winger in the summer as so much money will have been spent on Anderson already, and likely at well over market value.

I am not moaning, and I will be excited if we get him, but he is playing badly now already, he will need time to get his 'match rhthym' , he is Brazilain, and has done little to show he will have an immediate impact, added to this if it does happen it'll likely be late January, so it'll give him even less time to make an impact before the easier summer window comes along.

Decent shot and dribble on him but hardly worth more than 30mil. If theyre rejecting big money let it be.

People must understand that sometimes we have to buy someone who can be great instead of is great. Is great is hard to get. We would get Bale if we could.

I get what you're saying, but the guy will be 23 in a few months. Hardly a young prospect.

I have my concerns about Anderson

a- He's Brazilian and we've yet to sign a Brazilian who didnt turn into dog shit.
b- The Serie A isn't exactly renowned for quality wingers
c- He's been struggling with Lazio for months

If he was worth 15-20m than Id say he's worth the risk. We lack quality on the right flank so if he's not first team level material than he can become a quality reserve. Unfortunately Lazio wants to rip us off.

For those who never heard of him, a longer video of him kicking a ball around.

Just my two cents based on this video alone.
1) His crossing/final ball is average, maybe even a tad below average. We have enough wingers who can't deliver a decent cross and our creative midfielders don't even attempt through balls anymore. Atleast Young puts in a worldie every now and then.
2) He heavily relies on his pace. Either nutmegs or goes through one side and runs through the other. Not necessarily a bad thing, but most of our wingers usually get the ball in standing positions with little space to attack. How will it help him ?
3) He get's a tonne of lucky breaks in the video. Balls popping off someone's knee coming back to him and what not. I'm not sure if it's a case of him making his own luck or just actually plain dumb fortune.

Those are his absolute highlights. What amazing skill eh.

I dont know much about him so cant make a real judgement just yet but from watching youtube clips he looks like another somewhat average winger. Looks better than Memphis from the videos but thats not saying much.

Not sure. Memphis looked pretty average to me in every video I saw, just had 1 or 2 decent goals repeated. I said he looked average in them and that was an accurate description of how he has turned out and thats being generous. Anderson looks a better dribbler at least but still looks average.

I haven't really seen him play but from reading the comments on here about his youtube highlights I am not very keen

We should buy him for that. We tend to turn good players shit, so myabe we'll have the opposite effect on shit players?

Our best performers over the last two years were considered average/shit - Young, Smalling, Blind, Valencia, Fellaini (somewhat).

He was very good in van gaals first season, don't see how you can deny that?
He was good for those few games where everything clicked, but then again so was everyone else for those few games. The rest of the time he played like he has been playing this season.

We were at our best with him in our team. He was one of the better performers from last season. Saying he was decent is unjust.
Considering we were nothing much more than decent ourselves last season should tell you all you need to know.
Next Ashley Young probably had an amazing season with 4 assists.

Wait, I thought it was generally accepted that you can't judge a player by their youtube videos... what the hell is going on in this thread then???:smirk:

he is comfortably better than all our current wingers bar Young. Plus has the potential to develop into a top brass player. I dont get the apprehension towards him. World class performers cost twice his price.
You still have a soft spot towards the Andersons

Do you really feel that Felipe Anderson has the potential to become a world class player?

Yeah you're not really selling him to me...
So? Currently if we possed two Youngs starting on our wings every week we'd comfortably be competing for the title and through to the next round of the champions league with the way we've been dominating posession against teams
