With Dybala emerging as their first choice striker alongside Mandzukic, he's been relegated to the bench.

He hasn't been in great form which is why he got dropped, but he is clearly a fantastic player and can't be happy being a bench player right now. Surely he would be worth a try?. Fast, 2 footed, can dribble, head, pass, he really is a very rounded striker.

Would also fit in with the Spanish contingent.

I think he just signed a new contract with Juve, I like him though, he was good last season but has really struggled this for some reason.

Didn't score that many goals last season did he? He turned up in the CL though.

Who in the PL could he be compared to? Haven't seen him live much.

He's not really like any premier league strikers in every way, but he is a mash up of a few people. Best to have a watch of youtube to see how he plays

He's good at everything but great at nothing. Capable of really clever hold up play and improvising a chance out of nothing. Decent size but very average (or even slightly below for a striker) in terms of pace.

Hard to think of PL strikers like him, since they tend to be really strong or fast, and he's more kind of big, technically good and clever. Scouring the lists of top 10 Prem goalscorers over the last 20 years the only one I see strong similarities to is Eidur Gudjohnsen, who was more of a conventional striker at Morata's age, but had the same of rangy size, cleverness and unselfish tendencies.

Hasn't he got just one goal in Serie A? Strikes me as being a Spanish Welbeck as he seems good whenever I watch him but goal record is poor.

He was great in their champions league run last year. I think he has a lot of potential, and would be a good signing.

Not sure it makes sense to go for a non-goalscoring striker while Martial learns the art himself over the next 2-3 years. I'd rather have a Pelle than a Welbeck.

I get what you mean. I think he would compliment martial very well, but we can't risk a signing a forward who might not fulfill his potential right now.

Aren't transfer forum threads only supposed to be made if we're actually linked? Or can we discuss regardless?

The rumour that has been about for a long time is Madrid activating the clause to sell him on for the extra 10m (Whatever the cost of the transfer would be)
We were linked with him a while back going down this exact route.

There were some reports about Madrid offering money + Morata for Aubameyang.

Pointless for him and madrid, he isn't good enough to start for them.

Expect a mixed year for him and then he's off again

He's stalled this year because Mandzukic is a better pole for Dybala to dance his magic dance around, I think he's a really good young striker but Real will probably just flog him on for a bit of extra profit rather than give him a chance.

Was just waiting on that tbh, especially if they get hit with a transfer ban.
As I understand the transfer ban, Real can't sign Morata back when it is in effect.

There have, by the same sources who claimed a gazillion times transfers that never materialized. You can be sure this one falls into the same 'nonsense' category.

He really played well against FC Bayern in 2nd SF, once he gone Juve couldn't enforce same threat upfront.
Going to Madrid is going downward,he's stalling his growth there.Hope he gets better chance playing elsewhere.

Madrid have done this before. I don't understand why the player would agree to such a transfer. The clause doesnt mean he HAS to re sign for Madrid. Why not just turn the move down.
Juventus get a slightly bigger transfer fee and he gets a slightly bigger signing on bonus...

Why let Madrid profit off his transfer?

Maybe he actually wants the transfer as he's tired of sitting on the bench? I think he should join a smaller club to get more chances.

Because of the contract in place. Juventus won't be able to sell him for a fee that makes it reasonable to sell him to anybody else.

Football Leaks leaked Morata's contract, and it has a paragraph that Juventus have to pay a certain amount to Real Madrid if the if they sell Morata elsewhere. I'm too lazy to go back to get the actual numbers but IIRC it was incredibly high, something in the €70-80m region.

That makes no sense. I googled it and there is apparently an 80m termination clause. A buy out clause I guess.

There cant be a clause saying Juventus can only sell the player to Madrid and no one else. Madrid have a buy back clause. Madrid might have first option of someone else bids for him.
But if it is clear that Madrid are only interested in signing Morata for less than his market rate (because of the buy back clause) so that they can sell him straight away and make a profit, I dont understand why the player woudl agree to that move. Surely a buy back clause of first option doesnt mean anything if the player cant agree personal terms.

Of course it makes sense.

There are two different clauses in Morata's contract:
One determines the fee Real Madrid have to pay Juventus in case they want Morata back. The exact fee is determined by the number of games Morata played for Juventus.

The one I was referring to is a different one. Juventus is free to sell Morata to anyone but if they do before July 2017, they have to pay Real Madrid €80m. You find these types of clauses in many contracts - with the notable difference that usually the previous club gets a percentage of the fee and not a fixed amount as written in Morata's contract.
For example Chelsea got 20 or 25% of the fee Manchester City paid Wolfsburg for Kevin de Bruyne.
