Yeah it seemed that way. Hazard, Costa, Fabregas and Terry looked like the main culprits. It happens at Chelsea quite often with the player power becoming too much to handle for some managers.
I wont be surprised that Maureen made the mistake of making it obvious to Ivanovic and Terry that this was going to be their final year. Sure as hell they weren't going to just leave without taking their pound of flesh.

Come to think of it, maybe that's the reason why SAF kept the old guard for as much as they wanted (and Im not referring to just Gaz, Giggs and co but also to people like Robson and Keane until the latter lost the dressing room). Who knows, maybe he knew that there were fights that not even the great Alex could win?

Where's my arc, Paulie?
Which of the academy players he managed in Chelsea, Madrid or Inter was proven to be good? No-one at all. So, who cares that he didn't give chances to players who weren't good enough. He was there to win matches, not to turn donkeys into less donkeys.
That's a great perspective. Keep thinking that.

My biggest issue with Mourinho is IMO, his inability to improve a player as an individual. He may get the whole team to play as a team but that's it. I often wonder if its the reason why young players dont come through under him OR the young players his club buys hardly get a chance. It seems like he can only work with established players and this means he must break the bank every window. This season, despite winning the title the spending was eased and he pretty much failed. It is probably why the clubs he leaves behind are in such a poor state. Mourinho can only work with ready made players, which is why Chelsea spend a fortune on purchasing 100s of players from all over the globe in the hope that out of the 60 odd players on loan, one or two would become ready made. Do we really want a manager that hasn't got a clue with potential? How sustainable will it be when we would need to spend £200m every window yet the academy suffers?

I genuinely think this will be the job that defines Jose Mourinho. Having no crazy shackles like at his previous clubs (esp Chelski, RMadrid, Inter, etc), in total control....control of players, transfers, the full authority....I reckon he'd relish it.
Oh and helps we would be willing to back him to ridiculous levels in the transfer market.
Match made in heaven IMHO

Was it obvious that Pique was going to be a top player when he was at United? Genuine question. For some reason, my memory of Pique wearing a United shirt is a total blur. Even seeing a picture of it looks weird.

Look at it. It's weird. Did that even happen? Looks like one of those weird Daily Mirror photoshops when a player is linked to United.
For me it was. He looked top player for Zaragoza and while he never was given a chance at United, he was showing back then better technique than any defender in the league.

However, he was in a no-win situation having ahead of him in the picking order, probably the best 2 defenders in the world.

AS fecked as Inter?

Are you serious? As fecked as a club he won the treble with?

Sign me up for that please, would love for him to feck us like that. Their problems after he left weren't his causing.
Their problems were hiring Benitez. Then hiring shit after shit.

Aren't those his only goals in 22 appearances? Since when that was supposed to be excellent, especially if we are talking for a player who could have solved problems for a top club.
Christensen is a defender.

Nope. Me and others are having a serious discussion about the repercussions. Others seem to be deluding themselves.
Says you like Obertan, and you're a WUM on a profile. Now you seem to hate Mourinho. Are you for real? :houllier:

Someone had a similar phrase about LvG.

Will he be able to feck up Martial as much as he fecked up Hazard or will he just sell him (like he did with Lukaku, de Bruyne, Robben)? Will Man Utd, once they realize how horrible Mourinho is, be as badly fecked as Inter anno 2012 or just Chelsea anno 2007 (only winning the cup in 2009 despite spending more than anyone for several years in a row).
Inter had just won the geoffing treble when he left. Ridiculous to say he left them in bad shape. That was ALL Rafa.

Man United top scorers in the Champions League 2007/08:

Cristiano Ronaldo - 8
Wayne Rooney - 4
Carlos Tevez - 4
Gerard Pique - 2
Everyone else - 2

He's a centerback. Not supposed to be a goalscorer, was just mentioning the goals as an aside. They're fourth in the Bundesliga.
I got confused a bit there

To be fair, I haven't watched Gladbach since Favre resigned. I didn't even know that they are fourth in the table.

fecks sake. Ashey cole was 23,Lampard 25, Mikel 17,Kalou 18, Cech 21, Courtouis 21,Santon god knows, same with Balotelli(That inter-side was a retirement home when he got there), Robben 20,Zouma 21, Hazard 20, Oscar the same.. It's pretty retarded to suggest he doesn't "do youth". NO manager ever was successfull only using youth.

Which successful / high-profile manager of Chelsea / Liverpool / City / Arsenal hasn't?
Well yes, but how many successful/high profile managers of those teams became United manager? That's why it's weird.

Incorrect.

15 matches: seven wins for Guardiola (including the Supercopa = Charity Shield), three for Mourinho and five draws. Less than half ≠ almost every.

Mourinho won the Copa del Rey (at Real Madrid) against Pep, and reached the Champions League final (at Internazionale) over Guardiola, and the away win at the Nou Camp in 2012 essentially sealed the La Liga for Real Madrid. He was pretty decisive once he got used to the league, not to mention - Pep did have a superior and more settled squad with continuity working in his favor while Mourinho had to come to terms with his Madrid team after taking charge in 2010.
The Inter win against Barcelona is the game that stands out for me. I don't think anyone thought Inter would be able to stop that Barcelona side but he had a tactical masterclass. You just need to remember how that Barcelona side absolutely dominated us in the two finals before and after the inter game to see what an achievement it was by mourinho

Oh didn't realise he played 25 year old Lampard and 18 year old Kalou, turns out he has a good record with youth guys!

I admit that I won't cry if we don't see McNair and Lingard playing that much. I would be disappointed though if he doesn't give a few chances to Januzaj and Pereira though.

My point is that I cannot blame a manager for not giving chances to average players. Especially when he was at those clubs to win the titles. Which he actually did.

I can understand your concerns, but I think it's you that's deluded if you're finding reasons that Mourinho isn't the best option available to us right now.

People can think what they want about him as a person, but the contrived arguments for why he's not much of a good manager are mental. Not to put too fine a point on it, this doesn't happen by accident, and neither is it nulified by 4 bad months this season:

Can not wait for that cnut to bring his animal assistant with him,its going to fun as hell, maybe this time someone`s eye ball will be on their fingertips.Class act duo all over place. Think comments here about that animal were even worse then about Jose.

In short,i will not say yes to him and will never do but dont care that much because just in LvG`s case i dont find winning trophies or playing entertaining football at this very moment of time on top of priority list when it comes to our future. He might win something here and be stop gap for now brigade so they dont turn into those RAWK deluded morons after 10+ years without PL title.

If there's one man who will do what it takes to get United back to the top it will be him, it might be dirty, ugly even vulgar at times but if you want someone who will arrest the decline now its him. This story doesn't confirm we'll hire him though.

You're daft if you think he'd do that to the Chelsea fans.
Far from daft. He's a human being, he will be emotional returning there. If a winning goal happens and he's not exactly composed and calm don't be surprised, that's all I'm saying.

So you actually are. Delighted to see. Weren't you the one to tell others to stop crying about Pep going to City because there's no point complaining about things that haven't happened yet?

Ugh. Here we go again. Jose's term at RM was a shitshow. No matter how you want to spin it, the facts are there. Pep got the better of him majority of the time. I saw those games live and it was painful to watch them as a RM fan. His spell ended with him crashing and burning his relationship with pretty much all the players. He was the treble winner with Inter before taking up the RM post.
No, he didn't. His record against Pep them is actually very respectable, especially considering Pep had the superior side. Stop ignoring the stats just because you don't like the man.

I think those arguing about youth are mainly concerned with those from the academy. All of those were signed apart from Santon. Pretty sure you've got most of those ages wrong too as Zouma has only just turned 21 now and has been at Chelsea for a couple of seasons.
