Further doubt has been thrown on Felipe Anderson continuing at Lazio, even beyond the end of this month. Anderson was just a substitute for Lazio in their match against Bologna at the weekend, and afterwards manager Stefano Pioli was asked if the Brazilian would be staying at the Roman club beyond the couple of weeks left of the transfer window.

Gazzetta dello Sport say Pioli was cryptic, and replied "Stay? I don't know."

Anderson himself was quoted byTuttomercatoweb a week ago as saying "I don't know where my future will be in February."

Anderson and Lazio don't appear keen to show much commitment to each other, even beyond the end of the current transfer window. The 22 year old's erratic form has been a frustration for Lazio, and we'd suspect they'd take a reasonable offer for the player.

However, respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said Manchester United have already submitted a bid for the player this window, of €40m plus a further €10m in bonuses. He won't have plucked that idea from thin air, but Lazio later denied it.

Someone is pushing the idea of Anderson moving to Manchester United, with the amounts mentioned often seeming much more than the player has proven he's worth. Earlier this month we covered claims, from Italian newspaperCorriere della Sera, super-agent Mino Raiola was trying to get involved behind the scenes and build a deal.

Raiola doesn't represent Anderson, the player's sister does, but he is good at deal building. However, he may have to be a hypnotist to convince Manchester United to part with a straight €50m for Anderson. Both Lazio and Anderson have hinted a transfer could happen before the end of the window, but the issue is finding a club ready to part with the money.

I repeat, you want superior players to he and Depay: They cost De Bruyne and Sterling prices. Unless you are uber lucky and take a gamble on a wild card talent like Bayern did with Douglas Costa and unearth a gem.
I dont think Sterling is all that superior to Memphis other than being PL proven. If Sterling had been here he would have been a tremendous disappointment too.

We should go for someone who at least has the top class ability IMO:

Three options:

1. Buy top players. Often unavailale, or too expensive. The latter isn't an issue for us.

2. Buy players with top class natural talent (like supposedly Lucas Moura has, or Coutinho had before Liverpool signed him, or even Gotze who was billed to be one of the best of his generation). Not the finished product, but you have to take him to where his natural ability can reach.

3. Buy young players destined for greatness if given the right direciton, like Martial, Ruben Neves, Torres, Embolo (supposedly) etc.

Felipe is in bracket two. Just like Depay

On the basis of this season, Sterling looks miles more technically gifted.

Whenever I see him, he uses his pace only to get into really good position and make absolutely the wrong decision. I have seen him go behind the player only to let the player get back in front of him and him having to dive to get a foul to get something out of it. He scored quite a few number of goals but they have Silva De Bruyne Aguero and all. Even Navas gets into form more of late. He is not a bad player but he isnt that superior. The superiority right now imo is the polish in style of play because of the difference between England and Holland.

Nah, a lot of people slot Sterling into the "pacey winger" category, but the truth is that he is superb technically, which is why he's one of the best young footballers around.

He good, but definitely not superb. His basic passing and shooting is not up to scratch, or even crossing etc.

Totally agree, he's bloody agile and quick; his general technical skills are pretty weak tbh. He's not really been a problem for most teams when they don't have to look after a quality striker as well.

Italian press saying Marcel Bout is the one really pushing for us to sign him.
Safe to say this deal isn't happening unless Lazio drop their price significantly.

Not good enough. Wish it was the 31st already.
Are you a Glazer? I swear for the last 3 Windows you've been against us signing anyone. Agreed on Anderson though.

Lazio Boss constantly saying he doesn't know what the status is. Which is bad news imo,it means United are genuinely thinking of signing him.

60m for him would be a travesty. We could get Lucas Moura for less money than that, and he is a better player.

Thought we managed to dodge this bullet when the January window closed.
