None of them managed to win the league 3 times by such gaping margins either.
Ehh yep, and none of them had a contract with Jaguar either and all that.

Him winning 3 titles has nothing to do with the point being discussed here. only his last title, which actually looks worse on Mourinho.

Because Grant and Benitez neither had the respect at Chelsea, nor popularity or charisma to begin with but still somehow managed to end their seasons respectfully.
Whereas Mourinho not only had the respect and admiration of the Chelsea players and fans, but also won a title with the same squad and still managed to take them towards relegation.

Yes he has won plenty of titles but surely even ppl obsessed with him can't remember just all that and at the same time just ignore what actually happened most recently in his football career.
But reading the CAF they can. Not sure which side looks worse. Ppl who can't give him any credit for his career so far or United fans willing to ignore the total mess a manager (who is just about to manage their club) created last season.

Today would be more fun if it didn't remind me so much of the post-Moyes euphoria we experienced too...

This guy better work out or we're a bit fecked.

That's what I am thinking now. Hopefully we have a good version of jose. Not the melt down one. For the club's sake.

I understood the point, the unspoken question in my post was about what is more important. Do we want someone with a winning mentality, warts and all, or do we want a Grant or a Benitez, who toil throughout the season and maybe scrape some silverware by the end of their tenure, before meekly bowing out after a year or two?

Wait, why does that sound so strangely familiar...

I at least don't want a title And above relegation finish the following season.

Someone also joined up with the name "Homo 4 JoMo" but they already had an account on site and name wouldn't have been approved anyway. Quite a few people who've been banned before trying to slip through the cracks.

@Mockney

You're basically confirming everything RAWK has been saying about all this. We're a bunch of arrogant dirty bastards and Jose Mourinho will only continue this tradition.

Perfect if you ask me. Let the shitstorm begin.
Hey that's not what RAWK are saying these days. They say we finally sold our soul and abandoned all tradition. It's Twiggy who represents RAWK in this thread, basically.

Hi all, thought this a fitting occasion to post in the main forum since my promotion from the newbs...

I live in West London with a Chelsea season ticket holder, and I can tell you, they are very worried.

What a day, what a glorious day.

Will Zlatan announce he's joining us 5 minutes before the Jose announcement? You know how he likes the limelight!
Imagine if that happens only for Ibra to find out that we signed Phil neville as manager instead

I'd just like to point out that although @sammsky1 is being credited with the birth of 'JoMo' for our soon to be esteemed leader... a cursory search will show that this nickname was actually coined by @Ramshock on the Caf as far back as 2009... :wenger:

This thread title should be has JoMo lost his MoJo?

You really can't use that one example as a guarantee of what's going to happen; for one thing, the circumstances at Chelsea are significantly different from those at United. There was stacks of evidence that what happened with Chelsea last season went beyond Mourinho (just think of Hazard's inexplicable loss of form, Ivanovic's complete loss of form, the shambles of a preseason, etc). A big mitigating factor for me though was what happened in the transfer market. If you look at Mourinho's record, he's usually very busy in the transfer window, but at Chelsea he didn't have the final say on transfers, and it showed. At united, he will have the final say. I think that's going to make a much bigger difference than you think.

Same, I'm sat opposite a Liverpool season ticket holder at work and he's gutted. Genuinely thinks Jose is a perfect fit and will be brilliant at OT.

1st Aug, 2006 in the newbies. Poster has since been banned:

Agreed. However, this is a fine balance. Chelsea blew the CL-part of their season last time out because of too much quality in reserve. They have tried offloading some of them in the summer, but are obviously not finished with the job: Gallas did not show up for preseason-training today....

The lack of quality in depth concerns all the top teams. Will Chelsea win without Lampard and Terry, will Arsenal be up there without Henry and Toure or Liverpool without Gerrard? Doubt it. Fergie showed last season that he is able to create a winning team without top players in critical positions - Wenger did not, and JoMo has never been in this situation.

It's daunting but this is the first top tier manager we've had since Fergie so I'm actually excited rather than getting behind them because it seems the right thing to do.
