As always in my spare time I'm making terrible madness on Ableton and uploading it, again, not really 'songwriting' but it's original...ish. Also the artwork has gone to crap due to soundcloud, sorry... just sorry!

Sorry to have missed this for so long, I feel exactly like you do at times, we're all human and it's very easy to second guess yourself and feel low in confidence about your creations. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and release the material in whichever way you want and get it off your chest. Or, PM it to someone, I'm always open to music and will give you a second opinion.
Thanks. Cheers, I think I'll do that.

I'm learning the guitar now. About bloody time! It would make it a lot easier giving ideas (even not the greatest ones) a fuller life than garage band laboriously does.

I like this a lot and it's not usually my style at all. Frusciante like quality throughout.

Cheers Adzzz! Weirdly it sounds ok on my PC and phone but when I play it through my laptop the distortion seems to overpower everything else.

Laptop speakers are notoriously bad mate, it's probably just that?

My band was in the studio at the end of last year and we recorded our first proper album, this is the first track.

As before, I'm singing gibberish, and don't mind if the quality of the singing is low, as I try to get in a "passable" vocal recording so that I don't waste time perfecting vocals for a section I might discard anyway.

This is a more complete version of the one I uploaded before.

This one is new.

I'm still as bad as always! I hope you find something enjoyable in it!

That's very, very good! I like the melody of both the guitar as well as the singing. The voice also works very well with the song. You should start recording at a studio for sure!
I thank thee.

I'm seeing someone Sunday hopefully to talk about recording. Finding the time always proves difficult though!

What I can say from my studio experience - I'm sure you've seen my topic about my mixtape :wenger: - is that the step from home recording to studio recording really makes a HUGE difference immediately. I would honestly suggest not even having a meeting to only talk about recording but to just google where the next studios in your area are, to then call them, and tell them you play the guitar and sing and need a place to record which has an audio engineer who will help you with recording and mixing. It might take a bit of money but it will ultimately be worth it...it's always woth it to invest money in stuff you enjoy. It'll lift your level a lot. The melody and singing are already good.

Yeah I'll definitely look into it. I'm meeting this person in general to catch up anyway but depending on what comes of it I'll either sort something or look elsewhere.

To be honest this year has been so hectic I've not even had time to do open mic nights or play anywhere, but I'll be looking to get back into it.

For the first time in three years I've finally got some new original music out. Been told to recommend this to fans of Placebo because apparently I sound like Brian Molko.

In a good way, it sounds like something that'd be the obligatory acoustic track in the middle of a Kerrang-era pop rock album circa 2008 - I treasure that era, and I must insist it's a good thing to make a song like that. Like, track 6 or 7 of 12. Your band would be called Saving All Seasons, something like that. You'd play it to open the final third of your live sets when your band went on tour and everyone in the audience would make a point of getting their phones out and putting the torch on. The rest of your band (drummer, guitarist, bassist) would step off the stage for a little while and the spotlight would be on you to do the song alone. You'd perform the track, letting the crowd do the last chorus by themselves, before doing the final chorus once through again while the band came back on stage one by one.

Please do that. It's too real for me now to let go of.

Album two was released back in March but so much of it was inspired by my inner contentedness. Turmoil has re-entered my life since I wrote it, however, and it has to re-enter my music as a result. Introducing 'Ersatz'.

And one more. By the way, we recorded the entire 10 song album in one take for $500. To say it's not the best quality and that there are some mistakes would be an understatement

Did more music. Tried to go for a late 70s Cars sound.

No one's posted in this thread for ages, so here goes:

None of these are technically new, but I was going through old bits and bobs I'd done as I want to start recording stuff again. The instagram one is quite poor quality as it's just recorded straight onto a (crap) phone.

I know this thread isn't very active but here's two tracks I've put on Youtube for anybody who has a few minutes and wants to give inputs.
