Clear as day Rooney shouldn't be in this team. Hit two good chances straight at the keeper that you'd expect him to bag and he's getting nowhere near their players when pressing.
Passes to Boruc and shoots at De Gea. My big problem with his is he doesn't anticipate anymore, so easy to play against.

Baily has been great. Fellaini doing his job well as is Valencia. Suprised to see praise for Herrera thought he'd been largely ineffective personally.

This team definetely doesnt work with Rooney as the channel. Id move Mata central and bring Mkhit on

It's a shite match and we have been gifted a goal. Will I take a shite 1-0 for the first game away from home? Every time.

But Rooney has been piss poor.

I must have missed something. I was under the impression that we had a new manager.

And why are the home fans so boring even when their team have the ball? The atmosphere is dreadful. These home fans are so tamed

Call me a cnut but I know i'm not the only one that wouldn't hate if Rooney picked up an injury that had him out a few months

Herrera looked good, juan looks good, martial and Ibra look above average. Bailly looks very good. Shaw is rusty, the only BLOT on this team is Rooney. He needs to be Bastianed or better he needs to be Mcnaired.

Decent performance. 10 vs 11 is never easy, too bad we play like that 3 years now.

Opening games are nearly always cagey. Nobody wants to lose the opener, so it's not shock neither side are taking risks.

Rooney has been ghastly. Everything he does turns to shit. Hard to believe how slow and and laboured his touch and movement is. He's only 30. Scholes looked more agile when he came out of retirement.

United rarely play well on the opening day. The last time we won the title we lost on the opening day at Everton, playing like cak.

Today has been a bit better than the norm. We haven't been firing on all cylinders, but the players had a garbage pre-season. They won't be up and running for a few weeks.

We need to play more balls in behind. Bournemouth don't know how to handle it, Mata's goal showed that. We're too cautious though. Only Blind and Herrera trying to hit balls to run onto.

We need to stop worrying about losing the ball, trust our defensive organisation if we do, and look to get Martial running on to things.

Poor performance so far. Herrera has been very disappointing and has done nothing with the ball with the constant backwards and sideways passes. Wake up, Ander, Van Gaal is not the manager anymore.

That's forced the defenders to just hoof it to Ibra, which makes for a painful viewing at times.

Fellaini has been the better midfielder so far. Does a solid job defensively.

Rooney, like others have already said, has been very disappointing. We need Mkhitaryan on.

All those people saying take off Rooney are going to be disappointed.

He is our captain and our captain shall always play!

I 100% hope Jose pulls Rooney to the side and says to him not good enough at all, improve or you're coming off. I doubt it though. It is almost becoming the written rule that no matter how embarrassingly bad Rooney is he will be in the 11.
I would like to see Rashford brought on to right and Mata play at 10 then hopefully Mkhitaryan will get more than 2 minutes today.

Defense has been good, but having 3 slow players in your front four is not good for the attack.

It's going to take a little time to get the overly conservative passing out of this side. Quickest route would be to take out those players most guilty of it.

Midfield has been too passive, and Rooney is incapable of turning his neck to the left.

Our left side has been very poor. Right side is where our main attacking threat is coming from. No chance of us creating anything through the middle with Rooney clogging up our attack.

    Four positives:

    - Herrera will work fine in a MF with Pogba.
    - Bailly will be a beast, not stating it on just this but actually watching him lots for Villareal. He play just like he did for them, zero fecks given, good anticipation and authority.
    - Valencia will be rockin' this season.
    - Rooney will not survive for long in this team.

Rooney doesn't deserve to be in the first eleven automatically. We have other options.

Think we'll improve if Carrick comes on. Herrera and Fellaini are useless at dictating the tempo.

Herrera was decent today tbh.Made some resonable forward passes or at least he tried a bit from what i saw.

Am I the only one happy with the first half? We've been in control, tough away game - first of the season and a goal on top of it. We have a lot of new players, new managers and always start slow.

We've been really organized but lacking in the final third - would expect that to get better of course in the next games, but given how the top sides have struggled in the first round it's been a solid display.

The only downside is as always - Rooney. I'd have Micky/Rashford on the right and Mata in the middle to combine with Herrera. Rooney is just so off the pace...

Bailly has completed 22/22 (100%) passes in the first half.

What are you talking about? Herrera has played our only 2 incisive passes this half.

I'm serious that Valencia needs some massive appreciation gesture when he does eventually leave us. Yes he had a period where we was pretty shit at crossing and as a winger but the way LVG converted him to his new position and doing it so well is imho brilliant. True servant of the club and imho United legend when you consider all the players that left around in the meantime. Hard working and selfless, the United way.
