Absolutely bizarre transfer, Thiago Silva wont be pleased but Marquinhos will be popping bottles.

To be honest, its nice to see him back in the premier league, he's a fun player to watch and I can imagine a fun person to be around

I still can't believe this. I was so certain this wasn't ever going to happen. Can't understand it either, he's hardly a model Conte CB. Could see this all ending in tears.

No way would United pay a shit load of money for a former player... oh, wait.

In fairness, Luiz is shit compared to Pogba. I can't see how he's a Conte type player. Might be another Abramovic signing, which can only be a good sign for the rest of the league. The more the owner meddles, the worse Chelsea does.

This would be more like us buying back Nani or Chicharito.

First of all i don't like at all to buy back former established players (Dortmund are the big specialists in that).

But if you buy back the player then he must be the first choice.......that he was Chelsea's 4th or 5th option says a lot!!!

If his brain is focused during a match then he's a very good defender and of course he's very important for the moral in the squad.

If i would be a Chelsea fan then i wouldn't be totally happy with this signing but it's at least better than the rumours about Abdennour ;)

He's better than all their CBs and is one of the biggest defenders in football. Anyone who says he did shit at PSG clearly didn't watch him. He got himself into the FIFpro World XI two years ago and was in the Team of the Season in Ligue 1 this year.

He's quality. Kinda wish Mourinho hijacked the deal to be honest.

World XI has become a pure popularity contest recently. Him being in a ton of commercials probably got him on the team more than his actual play.

... There's a reason Evans is playing for West Brom and David Luiz went for 80m in the past 3 seasons.
What reason? Evans is better at defending, and no amount of juvenile smilies will counter that.

Luiz is an eccentric athlete that is good on the ball in an era dominated by smart arse coaches that look to have forgotten what a half decent defender is.

Thankfully our manager isn't one of them.

Evans isn't better at defending  Let me guess... you came to this conclusion cause Luiz is a decent attacker and therefore, the guy who ONLY knows how to defend must be better?

And Mourinho only sold Luiz cause the offer was too good. He said so himself.

Keep telling yourself that. By your logic, Henderson and Joe Hart would be in it.

He is not always the calamity that people often paint him as but, he is definitely not a great defender either. If he was I do not think he would be kept on the bench by a 33 year old John Terry and Gary Cahill like he did during his last season during first run at Chelsea. Or that PSG were perfectly content with letting him go on deadline day this summer. Or that Chelsea went after him after exhausting every other possible option.

He is better at defending. He's less of a halfwit, more composed, better with both feet and better at positioning himself.

Evans has played at a standard just as high as Luiz. He's played against and, more importantly, performed well against some of the best attacking players in Europe. Granted, the injuries hit and his form took a nosedive under Van Gaal, but there's a fine line in football between success and failure. It only takes one manager's assessment to be on your way out of a big club like United.

Chuck the current Evans into Ligue 1, alongside Thiago Silva, and he'll look grand. A lot less stupid than Luiz, for certain.

To be honest I'm glad he's back to the PL. Every time he plays he's always seconds away from that crazy brainfart own goal or red card.
