If Alvarez' last fight against RDA is anything to go by, Conor is going to get murdered.
Definitely a very tough for him but conor is a much better striker than rda. Better off the front and back foot. Nate couldn't touch him for 8 minutes in the last fight. I also don't know if anyone at lightweight could take the shots conor hit nate with. I don't doubt alvarez ability to wrestle him and beat him that way but I can't see conor being destroyed especially on the feet.

There won't be too much stand up anyway I don't think. Alvarez will throw him right up against the cage and beat the feck out of him. Conor has the punchers chance to land something big in the brief periods in the middle of the octagon. But Alvarez has a granite chin, only stopped once by strikes almost 10 years ago so I don't fancy Conor's chances.

P.S Nate IS a lightweight.

This card is getting better. Glad Weidman is on it as well he was one of the ones pushing hard for MMA in NY. Deserves to be there.

Makes sense to have Weidman on there. Despite the main event discussion, the card is stacked as hell no doubt about it.

Nurmagoemonevov needs to fight or he will be left out of the mix.

too much tweeting, not much of fighting to make a point for a title shot.

The winner of Cucuy/RDA (hopefully Cucuy) should be fighting for the belt next.

That's quite an insult to Khabib to fight Johnson, especially after Nate completely dismantled him. Khabib is the number one contender in that division and deserves better than fighting a complete mid table scrub like Johnson.

I mean he needs to fight. period. fight anyone, but fight around the same date as the others contenders, or he will find it hard to keep pushing for a shot.

Obviously he should be fighting el Cucuy or Cerrone, someone on that level, but shit didn't work out for abc motives.

Now he needs to move forward and Johnson is no easy task. He would be his hardest fight to date (except for RDA), so it would be a good fight to see what's his level really is.

He has one fight in the last 29 months, and it was against a nobody. How that translates to #1 contender who can now play the victim I'm not exactly sure. He's fought 1 of the current top 15...

Is this now looking like

Mcgregor - Alvarez
Wonderboy - Woodley
Weidman - Romero
Cowboy - Gastelum
Khabib - Johnson

200 was stacked on paper, 202 was excellent, this looks the best yet.

The rankinga are bullshit anyway. Hand picked by journalists, it's been ridiculed for years.

Strawweight title fight too. Got a funny feeling they might put that as the fox prelim headliner. 3 title fights on the main card is a long slog. If they put it as the prelim headliner, they could hype it up for being a title fight on free tv (in the US) and it being a special occasion for the first card in NY.

Who else would make the rankings if not the media ? The fans ? They know feck all compared to people who cover the UFC for a living.
Rankings should be done using mathematical formulas. Just like in football, journalism is way too biased to be taken seriously.

if you beat a better ranked opponent, you make X points.

a worse ranked opponent, X/2 points.

it should be easy to implement a new system, but i guess the owners don't want to change it as it is... PPV keep getting sold.

Using this logic McGregor would never be allowed to fight Alvarez. There has to be a qualitative assessment on how good a fighter is based on human observation to compliment mathematical formulas.

Alvarez has had the better of the first showdown IMO, didn't look fazed at all by Conor's trash talk.

McGregor conferences were brilliant at times, getting a bit samey now though. It's basically 80% of the questions going to him and then him calling every single fighter bums and how he runs the game. Rinse and repeat.

Agreed. Same as RDA during their first staredown. Alvarez seems immune from the WWE antics.

How can Alvarez have the better of it when he didn't come back with anything?
The fact he was getting fed up towards the end shows he was shook a little bit.
Conor agreeing to the fight 10 days ago with the delay being on Alvarez was telling, fighting with the same contract etc.
Heck Alvarez got wrecked by the fan at the end despite the fact he won the 2 five rounders.
The second half of Diaz shows Conor has heart and doesn't crumble every time, outlasting a triathlete at 170 and Alvarez is rabbiting on about big boy belts?
Very weak. Conor would be better in smaller doses but 2 out of every 3 questions was directed towards him. Unless he refuses to answer then what can he do?
He asked not to do too much media and look what happened.

He's the interim champ. He's subject to the champion clause so he basically has to retire at this stage.
This man held up the decision for 2 years remember..

Watching the 205 press conference and slowly losing the respect again that I gained for Conor after the Diaz fight.

Is there a more unlikeable person in the UFC? Always talking about money this money that, I'm worth this, my PPV numbers that... Christ, stfu already.

I hope Alvarez breaks his face.

Why would he stop saying that stuff? It's made him the richest MMA fighter of all time...

The response to Jeremy Stephens was brilliant, mostly because it looked like he genuinely had no idea who was talking.

fecking hell, where have you been, man? :D

I'm not saying that he needs to stop doing it, but I don't have to like him for it. The majority of fans he has on this forum support him just because he's Irish.

If he was from another country most of his current fans would love to see this cocky cnut and his big gob get smashed too, trust me.

I know it's all a show and it's working but it really makes my toes curl.
