Pretty damning from a former colleague. Shouldn't be allowed to ref another game again, horrible referee.

Im surprised he didnt give Burnley a penalty right after the sending off. Was just waiting for it to be given.

That is well out of order from Poll to effectively question the professionalism of a currently active peer. Hmm time to start googling Poll's history of reffing and loyalties.

Yep, this is him, he always goes out of his way to give decisions against the grain, like he tries too hard to make it look like he makes the harder decisions. For instance three Liverpool penalties at Old Trafford, two Chelsea red cards at home to United. Always wants to make out he's in control, twat.

Under soil heating.
And to think he refereed the World Cup and Champions League finals. He's dreadful. Infact, all English refs are.

But the Burnley fans gave him that annoying sarcastic applause every time they got a free kick. By that reckoning, he wouldn't have given either team anything, and just let the players belt the shite out of each other.

More seriously, the article claims that Clattenburg is a good referee, but then goes on to explain the incredibly cowardly and unfair process in which he makes game changing decisions. That makes him a very bad referee.

Editing my own posts.
The headline is a little sensational (most of the article is actually about diving) but still, I'm surprised Poll so openly called out another ref, even flippantly.

He's basically called into question his ability to do the one thing needed of a ref - remain impartial under pressure. It's tantamount to calling him incompetent.

This is something I definitely noticed yesterday. It's as if he's winding them up and doesn't want to hear the 'WHEYYYY' when a call is actually given.

That's quite a statement that is.

Clattenburg is a massive twat, that 07 game that Poll references was one of the worst refereeing performances I've seen. The other ones as bad as that involve some more of Clattenburg and Michael Oliver.

I knew they'd be trouble when I seen he was the ref yesterday. Such a self centered bastard. Needs to be demoted.

Clattenburg also gave us nothing vs. City. Mourinho called his "2 big mistakes" out after the match and i honestly think Clattenburg was out for revenge. Looking for any excuse to send our player off, deny us calls, send Mourinho to the stands, etc...

I really don't mind most referees, but can't stand Clattenburg. I always feel we are playing against 12 men when he's involved.

He hired a talent agency, he has games he's reffed tattooed on his arm.
He thinks he's the star of the show, Thunderfeckingcnut.

He's been shit for years. Remember him sending off Hibbert in the Merseyside derby. Looked like he was going to show a yellow, Gerrard had a chat with him and he pulled out the red. Then didn't sent Kuyt off for a fecking blatant kung fu kick. He's an egotistical cnut.

Honestly, it came across like that. Clearly looked like he was intentionally doing it.
That's because he was, in his continued effort to prove he isn't biased towards United he goes to the other extreme.

After this banner, i think he gave at least 6 penalties against us in the next few games he reffed us. Including fecking 3 in one game vs Liverpool at OT.

I'd be extremely happy if this twat doesn't ref another United game. Agree with Poll, he's an incompetent referee and had a shady career throughout including that 8 months ban.

Clattenburg, Atkinson and on occasion Deane can be utter attention whores on their day.

Fecking FA are like dictators, not letting anyone say a word about them regardless of how shit their performance is. I don't understand why they're so protected. They provide a service and should be subject to scrutiny like everyone else.

Bunch of incompecunts, the lot of them.

He wants to be a star and a part of the game. That alone makes him unsuitable to be a referee.

That and the fact that he's entirely useless.

Very soon after the card, Rojo tried to win a high ball through their forward's back in our box, I was shitting it as there was a push.

Poll must have an issue with Clattenburg, he wrote another article butchering him a few year back for going to a gig instead of the hotel with the other match officials or something, including a whole run down of any controversial moments. Strange that his example of giving a team nothing was Everton 9 years ago.

Now he may have a point about some refs that may go out of their way to be "brave" or whatever you want to call it in the face of home crowd pressure. I still think Darmian making a meal of the contact made up his mind, none of the handball shouts were penalties on watching it back. Herrera was hard done by but he's prob had it coming, I like the aggression he's brought to his game lately, just needs to find the balance.

That game particularly sticks out in memory, was ridiculously weak from him

That's the kind of logic you would expect from an opposition fan

I think this shouldn't be allowed (for officials). Accordingly, he and his agency have a vested interest in raising his profile, a profile which depends on his main area of business i.e. football matches; this is obviously open to manipulation. Ideally, it's in the nature of refereeing that refs should be background figures, not part of the footballing gravy train or limelight.

I think he was lucky to get away without a red card against Stoke yes. I think the majority of our fans would agree with that, and would agree that he was unlucky this time. Do you have a problem?

Just because a ref missed something vs Stoke doesn't mean he has this coming. Clattenburg was an idiot to send him off for a slip

A problem with what?

Each club should be allowed to nominate a ref that can't ref their games :wenger:
Over time it would probably show which refs have bias or are generally shit. Sounds like an interesting idea.

Could you imagine if one or two refs were constantly vetoed? Maybe there could be a relegation and promotion system.
