I think that he was poor yesterday. Maybe the fact that he was superb against WBA last week made him lazy, but I found the old Ibra, the PSG's Ibra.

The one who doesn't run, doesn't work for the other.

He didn't looked sharped and looked tired.

Missed a lot of things despite his "assists" (I don't consider Blind's one an actual assist).

I just hope that he'll get some rest at some point against Boro
Eh? Nothing like that happened yesterday. Only thing which was frustrating with him yesterday was the couple of chances he missed to make it 2-0.

The PSG Ibra scored goals and won leagues, I sure as hell hope we get the same one.

I would love it if he can continue his form and drive us up the table, finish top goal scorer and we win the league! An outside chance I know but if he finished some of those clear cut chances in those draws we would be fighting it out with Chelsea now. I know he'll be wanting to make amends for that.

This is the scariest thing, I wouldn't say he was poor but there was room for improvement. And despite this he got 2 assists and a goal. If he'd have been completely on song he could have had a hat trick and even more assists. (The underhit pass to Pog springs to mind)

He has been great the last month or so. He doesn't always perform at his optimum but he still racks up goals/assists regardless.

I love the new caf thing where you can just decide to not consider parts of the game to amplify your point. Zlatan's pass gave Blind room inside their box to get a shot off, in what world is that something you would not consider an assist? It's not like he scored a screamer.

A little off topic but I loved how we kept a clean sheet (not considering their goal since Borini is fecking shite).

Who is better statistically and/ or subjectively, Zlatan or Ruud??
Well, going off the statistics posted and discussed on the page before this and considering RvN was our top scorer for 4 seasons I would say he has more goals for us. But if you don't consider the actual stats I would say Zlatan has scored more.

I did mean on their career as a whole, not just for us, Ibra has only been hear for half a season where as ruud had over 5 years.

Just had a look into their club game statistics, although zlatan has played more games they have a similar goals to games ratio approx 0.6 goals a game.

Ruud - appearances 589 goals 347
Zlatan appearances 703 goals 409

Zlatan has proven it across more leagues, over a longer period and has more honours to show for it.

I don't think it's possible to find such information on the internet. Let's hope someone here has counted them all.

Even when he doesnt play well like yesterday, his output is brilliant. 1 goal, 2 assists. That's what a great player does, he can produce despite having a poor game

Sad thing is he is only going to only be here for two years.
Says who?

All that has been said so far is that Zlatan will be here next season also. But if he continues in this form next season, will he quit? or will he decide for another year?

He'd start that third season as a 36 year old, seems more than possible for Zlatan.

It's my biggest issue with players like Lingard who, whilst I think he did fine yesterday and probably played "better" than Zlatan, in the grand scheme of things he just doesn't effect games enough to be a starting player for United.

Fully agree. He needs to be more productive and consistent. Too often he's a bit "pointless" in games and then has the odd great game

Not even Messi or Cristiano score every single chance they get ffs.

What an era we live in, where a player is put to the sword for not scoring everytime he had the ball in front of goal, despite actually scoring and winning points consistently. He's been directly involved in all of our last seven goals.
He had three chances he should have scored. He had about seven chances total.

I'm not putting him to the sword. Read the full post. Just pointing out that it's not wrong to say his performance yesterday wasn't perfect, and he'll probably think he should have had another goal or two.

Ruud the superior finisher and traditional striker, Zlatan is the better player and far more completely, better hold and link up play, had a bigger variety of goalscoring and a bigger range of general ability.
Ruud's link up play is underrated. He never over complicated it, held the ball up well and was incredibly economical with his passing.

He was the master of laying the ball off and finding space for the return ball or being first to the rebound.

Could/should have scored at least one more yesterday. Has amazing balance for someone for his height too. Often if a player is that tall they look lanky and awkward.

Maybe I've just been conditioned by the likes of Crouch and Fellaini but whenever the ball doesn't ricochet off his foot and fly off into row Z I'm impressed.

It wasnt bad but Zlatan is a true master at it, the combination of strength, technique and skill makes him so great in that aspect. He's created so many chances for others as well from the start.

from him and Pogba I expect little bit more than from other players we have because you know they are capable so I am always little bit too critical when they are sloppy and maybe rightly so in that regard but maybe it's just like that, it's like they play, a couple of misplaced passes, then something brilliantbut as long as they are producing in numbers I am also good with that, it was a typical game from Zlatan yday but he upped his game lately..

for him and Pogba it is also a first season in the league under a manager who just came in and is builing a team and Zlatan is 35 and Pogba still very soung for a midfielder so I think I should expect even little bit more from them last season but one thing for sure I am glad we have them in the team, they surely transformed the team

What? SEVEN chances yesterday? Absolute nonsense.

And claiming he should have scored all three of those yesterday is also extremely harsh.
Indeed, it's a bit harsh. although for Zlatan chance where Sunderland GK save with his right foot, I think he should be able to score. But yesterday Pickford played well so cant really blame Zlatan.

I thought he was below average yesterday. He is usually one of our most influential players on the field and he had a lot of waste yesterday. Easy to forgive him though... he's played with such quality all year.

Zlatan needs to start scoring them hat tricks now. He's getting chances, he just needs that bit more ruthlessness.

I think he should start capitalising on these small teams we bully and creates loads. I want that golden boot

Since we stopped hitting him as the target man and isolating Zlatan, he has come in leaps and bounds. It gives me hope for the Griezmann transfer since Zlatan is given the freedom to drift wide and come deep for the ball. He's almost a false 9 at this stage and he's playing it perfectly.

I came in here to post exactly this!

I hated the way we were playing earlier this season. On top of everything else, it played to the weaknesses of our wingers.

Having Zlatan drift about the pitch has improved things immensely. I didn't think Ibrahimovic had it in him. Mkhitaryan, Martial, Mata and He Who Must Not Be Named will benefit from the spaces that are really going to open up in the box. So, too, Pogba and Herrera.

Ya it made him look so lazy too but it was obviously under instructions at the start of the season.

It annoyed me, because having watched him many times throughout his career his ability to bring people into the game and create chances is actually as good as his goal scoring. With playing isolated up top it took away a big part of his game and played to a weakness of ours (creating chances earlier in the season).
