Would imagine that their title challenge just about done. And even if they do get back into it again, they're too fragile and inconsistent defensively to win it. Almost conceding at double the rate of Spurs and Chelsea, for example.
That was obvious to anyone with a footballing brain. They're a good side Liverpool, but they have big flaws in their squad at the moment, been the case for a number of seasons really and that will always hold them back. They're in a similiar situation as City, very good attacking players that can carry the team for 70-75% of games, but when it really matters their defense lets them down.

So bringing Matip in for last 5 minutes to play long balls doesn't count i guess.

Bless you Swansea, bless you.
Could've sworn Caulker's first few games were him coming off the bench to play as an emergency striker too...

Is it the way he's set up his team to play? Are Liverpool running out of steam after a blistering start? Or is it nothing more than a bad patch of form?

I've said a couple times that they have benefited from not being in Europe. Their first team (attacking wise at least) is very good. But they lack depth and their backup players are poor. I just can't see that style of play working for the entirety of a season.
I'd say it's probably a poor spell of form. Away to United was always going to be a tough fixture for them (as it should be ideally for any side), and his Liverpool sides have always been patchy at best in games they're expected to win.

They'll hit form again at some point no doubt, but they're too poor and inconsistent at the back to win the league. Could have a point re a lack of depth though...will maybe need to address that in the summer, although if they get CL football you'd expect them to bolster anyway.

I really, really hope a journalist points out his hypocrisy regarding long balls.

In a weird way they're very similar to Rodgers' 2013/14 side...albeit without one individual as good as Suarez, and probably with a better team than that one was. As you say very strong in attack, but weak at the back and inconsistent.

Agreed. If you look at it logically this is the case. Still when they are your main rivals logic goes out the window-you always tend to think the worst.

It seemed to work for Dortmund in 12/13, in fairness. Though I didn't really watch them so have no idea if their style was as intense as this.
Not a full season - not all competitions. In no season.

12/13 they had their problems in the league finishing 25 points behind Bayern.
11/12 they had their problems in the league and in the CL until winter and made a nearly spotless run afterwards.

Why did Klopp get rid of Joe Allen and replace him with Winaldi?!

Tracksuit man getting found out. Welcome to the Premier League, Deidre.

They will release a DVD of the 27th season of the hit sitcom show: Next year is our year. They say episode 22 is hilarious, involving guest appearance from Paul Clement, added with some cool technological effects of long balls. Can't wait for it. ;)
Jumped the shark in season 2 and never been the same since.

It's such an upset that BT basically sent their B team to Anfield to cover it

I hope he has something to say about that anti-football team at anfield playing long balls.

The miserable, egotistical cockwomble that he is.

I hope he's asked about the two goals they scored that shouldn't have stood

Crap today. Not sure he got it wrong though. It just felt like one of those days where no one really played well. I laughed when I saw Matip ironically coming on for us to play long to (which we were terrible at).

At least this will shut the media up about us as title challengers. We're competing for top four and that's it.
Was it just the media though, Klopper? :smirk:

Eh i'd hardly call what they did last week game raising. Got a goal because Pogba had a mental lapse jumping for the ball.
Not referring specifically to last week. More that they're top of the little top 6 mini league when it's only games against other top 6 teams, but bottom when it's the other 14

Always good to see them lose, especially at home to relegation zone scrappers, but in a way, that result makes it all the more frustrating that United couldn't beat Liverpool at OT last week. Still, presents the chance to make up some ground at the top if United win at Stoke now.

Fair enough - didn't release how far off the pace they were in the league when they reached the CL final.

Both of Firmino's?
Aye.

Pushed Olsson out of the way when he scored the first. Arm in the back, clear foul.

Handball by Wijnaldum on the second.

Plus: Klavan should clearly have been sent off for elbowing down Llorente through on goal on a yellow. Bottle-job by Friend.

I guess we won't see any public campaign to retire Kevin Friend, though.
