One detail though. In fact, it's not positive for United if Mings gets a long ban. Bournemouth play Liverpool on the 5th of April and Spurs on the 15th, if he gets a 6 match ban as many are asking for he will be unavailable and directly benefiting your direct rivals for a top 4 finish.
Our top 4 chance has long gone, even before the Bournemouth game

There are already precendents, IMO. Aguero. The rules allow intepretation.
If the rules are unclear, yes. 'Off-the-ball incidents' clearly can't be interpreted as 'on-the-ball' incidents in this case. And the Aguero ban was based on the wrong rule as well so I don't see how that helps your point.

Look, I agree that Zlatan should be banned, I'm happy he will be because that elbow is unacceptable. However, the FA simply can't ban him based on a correctly applying rule, that's all I'm saying here. If you find me one that applies, I'll happily admit that they're correctly banning him.

Cantona has a lot of experience too, should we register him quickly and play him up front?

Rooney has scored 2 goals in 18 league appearances and 1000 mins of league football. He scores 1 goal every 500 mins and very importantly he plays centrally whenever he plays. He still never looks like scoring.

Rashford has 3 goals from the wing and at least he offers some pace and movement. Though I would personally play both Martial and Rashford upfront in a different formation, thus increasing our chances of one of them having a good game and scoring.
It's not just about scoring though, his presence and leadership is needed in a situation like this. The diamond you posted is very unlikely for Mourinho to use. That leave Blind very exposed like you pointed out.

That diamond made Mourinho famous.

Sure but I don't remember him playing that formation for Chelsea where he had his biggest succes, maybe he did for a while to accomodate Sheva i'm not sure, which didn't work out.

Without Ibra for the cup at Clelsea ? Time to ditch the FA Cup ?
I can't see Jose cowering away from FA Cup against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after what happened last time. I'm not saying we will win but we definitely won't go down without a fight this time.

Just heard Danny Murphy saying that Mings shouldn't be banned as Mings said it was unintentional and there is no way proving that it was.

Okay, Danny you bald twat. :houllier:
He's being charged. He can plead his case. Would be unusual not to charge him.

Fwiw Zlatan could also say that the elbow was unintentional.

Exactly, we could say that. Except, most people know fine rightly Zlatan left one on him as retribution. I'll post a link people can make their own minds up about what Murphy said.

Winning titles with Chelsea was not his biggest success, not by a long shot. He even got sacked by them, twice.

His biggest achievements in terms of difficulty were winning CL-League double with Porto in 03/04 and the Treble with Inter at 09/10. He used the diamond extensively at both teams. If anyone knows how to work the diamond, it's Mou.

Which also means that if he chooses not to play the diamond, he doesn't trust the current players to perform in this system.

He already did say that. Straight after the game, when he told the reporter, mings jumped into his elbow.
In fact, there was some idiot journalist in the daily star today calling for 12 game ban for ibra because he said that.

Well did you really believe Zlatan? I mean I know I didn't. They both should be banned, I don't see why everyone is losing their minds over it. But then again it is Daily Star...

Had Kevin Friend sent off Zlatan to me there would have been no questions. But, ref saw it and there is no rule change saying if the ref saw it then it can still be reviewed as far as I know. So Friend has left it out either on purpose or out of sheer incompetence because he was looking right at him when it happened and didn't deem it even worth a yellow card. It's a technicality but, it does open a can of worms that should not be. If refs can be influenced to then leave out details for an incident that they at the time didn't think deserved more than they gave even though they were looking right at it, then that's a real problem.

No doubt that it will hurt the team not to have Zlatan at any point but, after the Bournemouth result - it's time for everyone of those players to step up and this will force them to even more so.

That push was no different from Surman's push on Zlatan for which he got a yellow. Good luck trying to get a straight red for a push, especially where the opponent is grabbing you with both his arms.
What! Those two were completely different. Surman did a slight push while Ibra grabbed his whole body and threw him to the ground (which looked hilarious).

They both deserve a ban, Mings should be lengthier though as that was incredibly dangerous.

I find it really difficult to picture us winning 3 games without Ibra. Rooney is basically scared to shoot these days, hopefully Mkhitaryan and Martial show up.

By the way, I presume we all remember this incident?

I'd say Zlatan can feel fairly hard done by over the double standards on view here.
I get what you're saying about inconsistency but no, you don't get to feel sorry for yourself when you've purposely elbowed somebody in the face. Same goes for Mings.

The decision is the correct one. That wrong decisions are being made on other incidents is irrelevant to Zlatan and United.

Imo three PL titles in the best league in the world was his biggest succes. Cups are different because it also requires a lot of luck to win. There have been countless CL winners who weren't the best team, Chelsea being a great example. If you had a playoff system in the cups like in nba/nhl that would see the actual best teams come on top.

I think the chances wee see a diamond is nonexistent to be honest. Not because he hasn't had succes with it but for reasons I mentioned in my reply to you in the other thread.

The nature of the push was different like you said. But the intent was quite similar. Neither player was ever going to harm the other player nor was the intent. Even a yellow for both those offenses is a stretch. But we have some people here claiming Zlatan should have seen a straight red for it.

I'm actually a bit excited to see how we will do with a pacy forward, (if) Jose chooses to use Rashford up top. Not that Zlatan isn't one of our best players, but still.

Wonder if this means Rooney will get a run upfront now. Or Rashford gets Jose's trust.

Eh, I'd say doing the treble with Inter and taking down Barcelona near their peak with 10 men tops anything he managed with Chelsea.

I'd say it will be Rashford. He's started more games than Rooney and Martial this season, so I don't see why this would change now when there's a clear opening in his position.

That's besides the point though. This isn't whataboutism or arguing that Zlatan did nothing wrong. It's the gross inconsistency of using video evidence to retrospectively correct some refereeing errors but not others. It seems as though its the media which are setting the agenda for the FA. Which is an incompetent way to run any regulatory body.

I thought that you can't be punished if the referee sees the incident? I remember he had a word with Rooney & Ibra regarding the elbow or was it something else?

It's shit for Zlatan to get a ban but it will be interesting to see how well Rashford does. Hope we get Micki back too, or we're in trouble I reckon.

It's a huge opportunity for Rashford now, I hope he takes it. And Mhiki is penciled in for Chelsea return I think so that's a positive.

He needs to clearly say that he dealt with the incident in his report. At least that's how it used to be.

Of course i don't believe him or Mings. But what else was he supposed to say when asked about it on camera? "Yes, i elbowed him the face because the ref didn't notice him bounce on my head".
Both should be banned. The head stamp is worse though in my humble.

The Italian league wasn't really that strong at the time, you can't compare winning in Italy vs England. Don't get me wrong that CL win with Inter was amazing but imo 3 PL titles is more difficult to acheive.

Our top 4 chance has long gone, even before the Bournemouth game
Before the Bournemouth game? No chance. We have a game in hand on Liverpool. If we'd have beaten Bournemouth we would have been 1pt behind Liverpool with a game in hand on them.

Even after dropping points, Winning our game in hand still pulls us level with Liverpool. That is nowhere near a "long gone" scenario.

Oh aye head stamp is by far the worse one. I mean you're putting all your weight on the guys head with studs. You could kill or permanently injure someone.

Bit harsh, they only won the league by 2 points. Roma were very strong that year, and AC Milan were a very decent side as well.
