Absolutely gutted for him.

I had more or less the same injury and I feel for him, especially he's at the end of his career.

I'm afraid that it's the ACL at 95%

We should be grateful for what he did for us this season, and now just pray that Rashford can score goals and the team step up for the semis and the final.

Ugh, a really awful way to go out to be honest. Totally gutted for him, the best I can really offer from my armchair GP office is that there was no 'plant and twist' in that hyper-extension so it may just be a medial/lat collateral strain at the absolute best for him. The twisting is where the AC/PC come into play. The knee joint tends to protect pretty well from a hyperextension when there is hardly any 'plant and twist'. I hope he isn't at least out for the final if we make it. That would be some absolutely awful luck.

On the game, I didn't really think he was any worse than he has been this season. Just painfully sloppy. But this time he struggled a bit to put away chances and that is always a concern.
I just think the opposite. He barely won a duel with the two defenders, didn't held the ball high, lost a lot of passes, and especially missed two big chances with two wrong choices. The one v one with the keeper he should have played higher the ball and not a low shot. And then the Carrick's pass, he should have curled the ball instead of shooting like a bazooka.

I think that he played way too much this season and should have been more protected by Mou. This is the risk with playing a 35 year old guy. Look at Carrick, he's tiring this days, but he can still produce. Ibra seemed tired since February i'd say

Dude one is 19 the other one has been doing it for 15-20 years..
Think you've proved his point though. Rashford was great last night, but he missed some very good chances, and taking Zlatan out of the equation (which his injury certainly has anyway) it could have cost us our place in the competition. 19 or not, he's got to lead the line now, and be a bit more clinical.

*Big fan of both Rashford & Ibrahimovic.

His worst game for us, could tell it was bothering him and his play was getting worse because of it. Really needed a goal but games like that happen.

Hopefully we'll see him again before the end of the season.

shame for Zlatan and i hope he recovers well to finish his career at LA Galaxy or somewhere

last night was the low point for Zlatan and his goals have masked months of poor performances

we are very light now as we certainly can't rely on Rooney, Lingard to make the difference and Mhiki/Martial will need to step up

its a shame but time for Rashford to seize his chance

Considering he's out for the rest of the season he'll be a loss but only as a plan B or and keeping Rashford fresh enough by coming on and giving him a rest etc as it's pretty clear or obvious now that Rashford should be the main man up front.

If it is the last time he plays for us, which I hope it's not, he's been one of the best 35/36 year olds to ever play for us. Absolutely fantastic season, and he proved a lot of people wrong this year.

I'm hearing rumours that he did his cruciate? At his age that probably means retiremant? I'm off to find a source for this claim...

Swedish journalists seem to be sure that this was Zlatans last match in his career. Ironical if a great and long career without serious injuries ends with a horrible performance and a long-term injury. Very sad if this is the last page of his career.

I'd never ever take anything that swedish media says seriously.

The point is that Zlatan has been missing sitters all season and Rashford hasn´t been playing in the middle. When you put Rashford there he gets chances and takes some of them just like Zlatan. The difference is that you kind of expect Rashford to miss couple because of his age. Zlatan on the other hand has been piss poor in many games missing them left and right then puts in one and saves the day (or a draw).. I have been over the moon having Zlatan here this season but looking forward I would be ok to see him not playing here next season. Rashford is one of the best talents I have seen for many years, his attitude and desire is for all to see. He will have learned so much from Zlatan but for me at least the time for Rashford to get a full role as a striker is now as it seems that wee are playing much more fluently without the big man..

The injury aside, relating with Zlatan's performance last game...

He's always like that isn't he, where he would definitely play great with wonderful techniques and goals in a long run of matches yet there would be those frustrating moments like the two open misses(?) in scoring. A very bad finishing. I recalled something similar 've happened during the Inter and Barca's days.

Still a world class player :D heal well and return back Zlatan, play and win the Europa League finale.

Hope we get to see him in a United shirt again. He deserves it for his contribution to our season, without which we would be looking at mid table.

I do feel in the long run we will benefit without Zlatan, but right now we need him. Hope it is nothing major.

Football loves its cruel irones, and if he's out for the rest of the season and his top flight career is over, at least you can be assured we're headed to Stockholm.

Thought he was as bad / anonymous as it is possible to be in the 1st half & was then trying really hard 2nd half despite looking old & knackered & seemed to have also lost his touch.

I dunno, think he might have got injured as a result of the trying too hard - jumping for that ball. I have always been a major critic but don't take any joy from him getting hurt in those circumstances how ever much he's been holding the team back with his 28 goals.

Be interesting to see how we go from here, Rashford looks the real deal to me but probably wasn't going to play 55 games this year. There's probably not been enough rotation, maybe Zlatan didn't want to be rotated or subbed off for a rest.

He has still never suited the way I wanted to see us play though. My saying Rashford is the real deal is a lot easier than Jose picking him at first choice with Zlatan & Rooney on the scene.

I don't think we want him back next year, least of all if he's recovering from a major injury at the age of 36.

Guys why don't you just wait to see what the injury is before debating if it's the end of his career, the end of his time here etc etc.

Performances like last night are a result of playing a 35 year old every minute of every game for almost an entire season. Baffles me why he hasn't been rested way more during the season.

From the way he stretched his Knee. It is most likely he injured the PCL. With such an injury it is unlikely to avoid a meniscus injury. An MRI is done on him today to verify the damage to the ligaments and and the meniscus. But Shaw saying that he was walking around in the dressing room is a +ve sign that the meniscus is not severely injured because in most cases it locks directly and within a minute the knee swollen. But still the PCL take longer time to affect him. I hope he can still have a part in the remaining of the season. But i don't think so.

I can't believe some posters have said, "blessing in disguise" yeah, he's looked tired and old at times, but check the stats up the top compared to the rest of the players in our squad.. 28 goals..

He's been a major player for us this season so it's damn disrespectful to be saying that, in my opinion.

I fear he's done for the rest of the season, so hopefully the others like Rashford step up consistently because we need to find goals from somewhere else now, which Zlatan has missed a few but 28 goals for someone who people here were doubting when he signed is a great achievement for a 35 yr old. We should be thanking him for that service instead of slating him. "Blessing" how disrespectful can you be.

Gutted that we might never get to see Ibra play for us again. Not only did he play a hand in 37 goals for us this season, but there is another huge factor I haven't seen any poster discuss over here is his sheer presence sure would have lifted morale of our other players in every game. It's always uplifting to know that you have a great player in your team who could win you a game out of nowhere. For all their quality, I am afraid Rashford and/or Martial will never fill their team mates with same confidence.

Big players like Ibra do a lot of good for team morale because other players see what he is capable of doing on the training ground, how well he is respected in footballing world, how popular he is worldwide etc. So I am a little scared this injury could impact other players during matches, how they feel when we go a goal behind, or are having a very tough game where opposition is pinning us down and winning every second ball. You have to have a certain level of confidence in your team mates and their abilities to be able to lift your own game during tough times and believe that you can make it through. That confidence surely will take a bit of hit without Ibra's presence on the pitch because it's not just us supporters that understand and discuss the aftermath of his absence. His team mates too go through the same process.

Lastly, I don't see why this injury could prove to be a good thing. We just lost one of our two dependable striking options (other being Rashford) so what do we do when Rashford needs rest or is having a bad game? Who do we turn to? Hopefully Rooney and Martial can step up their game now.

I said in another thread already. When we play a counter attacking game don't play him, but for the majority of the games where we will dominate possession and the opposition sit back we have to play him then.

So much for blessing in disguise huh.

We missed his hold up today. Kompany and Otamendi kicked the shit out of Rashford. Plus Rashford looked more effective on the wings. Ibra with Rashford and Martial would have probably worked better. But yeah blessing in disguise.

Reports that he's gonna turn down a new contract cause "it wouldn't be right"

We need to give him a pay per appearance deal. Works for all parties involved.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if that's the case and Ibra leaves after the season announcing he turned down a renewal as it "wasn't right" then I'll take it as a PR stunt from United and Zlatan and there was a mutual agreement that we let Zlatan go. Works for both parties perfectly.

Or we should just move on and plan better.

If anything, it forces us to do the right thing for the future. Which is good.

It's not a player who is the problem. We have been crap with Pogba, with Zlatan, with Mata at home against "poor" teams. Those who said it was a blessing with Zlatan injured were wrong of course.

It's something else but what the feck is the problem with our home form? How can not a great manager like Jose solve it?
