How often has he gone off injured in a game before today with the exception of that time his leg was hanging off?

I can't think of any...but I have known to be wrong from time to time

How would they do this when they have seconds to make a decision either to carry on or replace him to avoid playing with a man down?
Thats exactly the point I'm making. You said he would have gone off with the Physio's advice. The physio can only advise on what Shaw tells him and if Shaw's being a wimp he's going to say whatever gets him substituted.

I can just see Mourinho forcing him out of the club, & ending up at one of our rivals as one of the leagues best left backs. I am sure Guardiola & Klopp would be interested.

They even mentioned on Sky during the Manchester Derby that the likes of Liverpool and City could be interested in him.

I'm all in favour of leaving footballing decisions to the manager and not having chief execs, board members etc involved. However if for some insane reason Mourinho was happy to sell Shaw to one of those two then the club have to step in and not sanction it. Can't sell any player to Liverpool/City under any circumstances.

We've gone from prasing his bravery in coming back from a leg break to suggesting he could be a wimp.

Did anybody notice what the physios been testing out with him? As in, knee, thigh, shin? Was it some muscle problem, some twist, impact injury? It was weird as feck.

Maybe he was just tired because he's fat and he needed to sit.lol
I shouldn't laugh but my god

But with a clause exempting Fellaini?

On the first choice issue, we have no need for Shaw to be first choice, nor do we need to buy a new left-back as Blind/Darmian/Shaw/Young does a perfectly decent job. Our defence has conceded 25 goals in 34 games; that's not only an impressive record this season, it compares very favourably with the best PL defences over the last 3 seasons.

Last season. Best defence: Man United + Spurs 35 conceded in 38 games. Then Leicester and Arsenal 36 conceded.

2014/15 Best defence: Chelsea 32 conceded. Then Southampton 33. Arsenal 36. Man United 37.

Dig up stupid!
i'd be surprised if we see him again this season, mous comments were pretty explicit for me
either its a serious injury in which case he won't be fit again or its not a serious injury in which case he won't be selected as mou will punish him for not being 'brave' when we needed him.
be an interesting summer regarding this guy

Diagnostics?
What like plug him into a machine and see what it reckons is up?
The medical advice being administered by the physio here is both precautionary and reflective of the patient's own (player here) sentiment. If it's a knock that he can run off, there's no avowed doctor that would reasonably tell him to push on til he worsens it. And without a scan (like what @Pexbo) is hinting at, you're unlikely to see any significant damage to diagnose. So it leaves a lot to the player to decide honestly. Look at the number of critics going on about assessing concussions and not letting the player decide if he can continue.

Shaw decided to come off. I doubt he was intentionally being lazy etc. but he clearly is still lacking in the psychological confidence of coming back from all his injuries. A lot of It's in his head plain and straight.

Time to cut our losses, sell him in and buy a proper consistent LB.

I don't want the team to carry a wilshere/Sturridge type player who's constantly injured. We might as well sell him whilst he will still be worth something decent.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
As much as I can be understanding and empathetic to Shaw's situation, at his current state... he's not someone we can rely and depend on to play for us isn't it. I still have hope of him of course, but it's kinda becoming clearer that he's not a fighter. Amazing football qualities, but seems to have mental limitations. Whatever happens, all the best Shaw~

Wow. We've actually reached the point where we actually think players are faking injuries just to avoid playing Swansea at home.

I'll bet you he doesn't play this season anymore, at least for United. If the injury is serious, he'll be out for a while and won't have time to recover for the last games. If it's not that bad, Mourinho won't play him, even if he's desperate and has no one to play that position.

Don't think he is saying Shaw is faking an injury. It's that he gave up too quickly and didn't try to play through the pain.

Ofc this can all be B.S. when we realise Shaw actually suffered a serious injury. Was a bit weird that there was no footage of him getting the injury.

Both him and Jones need to move on for the sake of their own careers. They need a fresh start with a different medical team and club.

Whilst I don't believe in Jose saying it, it was pretty damning on Smalling, Jones and Shaw. Basically he's calling them fake and spineless. He openly thanked Mata for his commitment in returning so soon. Honestly, I can't see any future for those 3 players at Utd...

It's hardly surprising when all they do is cry off.

Shaken, and very stirred......
Felt for him but there is no way Mourinho is going to keep this guy. It's hard to plan a team and include a player in that team you have doubts about in terms of being mostly available. Personally, I think that awful injury really has affected him psychologically and he wouldn't be the first player for that to happen to I would imagine.

Unfortunately, I think this was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as Jose is concerned. Shaw's gone in the summer I reckon.

I'm not blaming him, but I think there's something not quite 'right' with Shaw mentally - throughout the season we've heard talk of him not being fully committed, his head being elsewhere, his off-the-pitch lifestyle being a bit 'off', the supposed weight issues, the niggly injuries.

I don't think his head is in the right place to bounce back and make a success of his United career. Maybe the best thing for him would be to return to a lower level club where there's little to no pressure and no manager making digs at him in public. Perhaps that will let him get his mojo back at his own pace coz a team like United cannot wait for him to find his own pace.

Jones and Smalling are in the same boat - 3 English players who cannot be relied upon for ne reason or another. One of them will be sold and replaced, most likely Jones.

Our english contingent are embarrassing. These 3 made of glass, Rooney boozing. At least Rashford offers hope
I mean, yeah. Rooney has 100+ caps for his country and 300+ career goal but because of this he isn't allowed a drink, feck me.

Sounds like Jose laying it down to him in his post match interview. "Must be a very bad injury to come off after a few minutes", said in a certain way. Sounds like another challenge to me.
Sounds very sarcastic in my opinion, almost as if Mourinho is having a little pop at him. However, after praising the man having played with cramps, I'm sure the criticism (if any) will be necessary and fair.

I can just see Mourinho forcing him out of the club, & ending up at one of our rivals as one of the leagues best left backs. I am sure Guardiola & Klopp would be interested.
Silly post, wouldn't happen. Heinze was borderline castrated when he demanded a move to Liverpool.

I find it odd how many people sympathize with Mourinho regarding the Shaw situation. Since when did we start believing that players are faking injuries or exaggerating them?

Could we loan him out abroad or here next season just to see if he has lost it or not? Might be an option rather than selling and regretting it in 12 months? Or a swap deal deal with Monaco for one of their full backs

In world football, the only two frequently injured players that should be kept in a team are Arjen Robben and Marco Reus because when they actually play, they can guarantee you bags of points. Clubs should seriously consider selling anyone else.

Didn't Sir Alex once say Saha's injuries were more in his head than physical? Some people just react to things differently, some feel a twinge and can't play and others would need to be dragged off the pitch. Mouinrho wants more of the latter.

So instead of believing the manager, the one man who actually knows what's going on at the club, we should immediately assume he's a liar and lay in to him?

Off course. Half the forum detest the man and every word he comes out with has to be analysed.
