If all the premiership clubs were put up for sale in the morning City would be 5th or 6th most expensive to buy not the 1st.

They've been very 'creative' with their sponsorship deals an now that creativity has been added to their wages. All allegedly of course.

Not as farcical as the idea that you think City are only worth £1. That post of yours claiming such a thing has to be the most laughable in the history of this forum. It even trumps some of the utter gash namco comes out with.

In any case, even if all City's commercial revenue was indeed fake (which it isn't unless you think the likes of Nissan are a figment of one's imagination as opposed to one of the world's largest car manufacturers ffs), I've clearly pointed out to you that we're getting upwards of £250 million per year from other sources. So no, City aren't going under if our owner "pulls out" and to even think such a thing is utter delusion and wishful thinking.
Plenty of examples of businesses that were loss making operations that were sold for £1.

How are Malaga fc dont these days now? The Arabs stopped the big spending and now they are also rans.

Are you still here?
How much have they pumped in so far? Over a billion easily. They will never get any of that back.

While I don't agree with this valuation list, when other reputable organisations (such as Forbes) have published their own findings, City have tended to come out as around 5th or 6th in the world rather than 5th or 6th in the Premier League.

City would be in a very sorry state if the Sheikh fecked off and all the associated sponsorship money went with him, but they're not quite as bad as they were a few years ago.

They're past the point of having a wage to turnover ratio in excess of 100% for example, but they are still enormously reliant on their owner.

Unfortunately he's not going anywhere.

Malaga were never close to being at the level City are now so you're comparing apples and oranges. In any case, they play in a league where the top 2 cream off most of the revenue. Ridiculous to even compare the 2.

If you genuinely believe that City can be bought for a pound when we are turning over hundreds of millions per year and have no real debt to speak of, then I'm off to make an offer now. Then when I've bought the club, I'll sell all the best players, the training ground and all other associated land around the stadium, and bank the £1 billion-plus that I've received. I'm just astonished nobody else has thought of such a simple money-making scheme.

They are basing the valuation on the accounts that are presented, that doesn't mean a potential purchaser has too.

Every man and his dog is aware what City are up to apart from City fans.

Those accounts are independently audited mate.

Yep, it's a largely pointless discussion.

I also agree with the other poster that these valuation tables are just a pointless dick-waving exercise where fans are concerned. The only table that really matters to any of us should the one that Chelsea are currently top of.

Of course City would struggle if the oil men disappeared. If they left then the deals with legitimate companies would dwindle due to City losing the one thing that made them stand out.
Point taken...mate ;) I'd be careful about making unfounded accusations about what City "are up to" on a public forum though :)
I made this helpful diagram a while back to assist in understanding City's accounting.

Tell it to UEFA.

FFP regulations require clubs to show all their income is 'real' and not 'artificial' revenue from benefactors or related companies.

But as well as the image rights and intellectual property deals, independent assessors found a win-related bonus of more than £5m was paid to City by a Middle East sponsor for the 2013 FA Cup final despite the club losing the match to Wigan. Two other City commercial contracts from UAE-based partners, Aabar and Etisalat, were above market rates, the assessors felt.

There's nothing illegal in it though is there? Related party transactions are allowed but UEFA apply a fair market value to them. If they weren't allowed full stop then Mike Ashley wouldn't be sponsoring Newcastle's ground and Bet365 certainly wouldn't be sponsoring Stoke's ground and kit.

City didn't get fined by UEFA for who our sponsors are. We got fined because our losses were deemed to have fallen outside what was acceptable. Anyway, that was 3 years ago and is hardly breaking news. Since then, UEFA have removed all sanctions that were imposed on us.

It's now getting close to the £2 Billion mark actually.

You are not getting this at all. Phillip Green sold BHS for a quid as it had massive liabilities. He didn't want to put his hand in his pocket to cover these. He found himself a chump who didn't know the first thing about the retail business & stitched him up.

You have a £2 Billion debt to Mansour. I've seen nothing to suggest this has been made a gift to the club. When he leaves he's going to want most of this back. You have posted a small profit 1 year since the take over. The remaining years have seen large losses. This isn't taking into account the reliant sponsorship deals & the jackanory costings, staff wages & the like.

It would be possible to run City as a profitable business. This would put you at your true level though, as a bottom half PL side.

Nobody has said City are doing anything illegal. Making a loss isn't against the law.

For the most part yes, although I do find the financial side of things interesting personally.

Deloitte are the ones to pay attention to, their football finance report is brilliant and the guys behind it are extremely good - even though the main guy is a bloody Bertie ;).

But the implication in some quarters is exactly that. Anyway, I've got other stuff I need to be getting on with - I'm armed with a shiny new pound coin and need to see a man about buying a football club:lol:

Oh, I agree that it's interesting but I'm not exactly celebrating the publication of this table.

Agree about Deloitte. Swiss Ramble is usually a good read and Anders Red (United fan) is decent too.

Andersred lost a lot of credibility with his doom mongering imo.

Fair enough - it's been a while since I visited his site. Always found him quite impartial when discussing City's finances, although he couldn't resist the odd friendly dig or two ;)

You need to cut him a break here. I think he has a really good point in that City don't have any way of servicing that wage bill and all our income is false.

I mean, it's not like we don't get £130m-£140m a year from the PL TV deal is it? Add to that the fact that we earned more in prize/TV money than any other club in Europe from last season's Champions League run - around £70m IIRC. Then there's the £50-odd million a year from match day/corporate ticket income. Not to mention the £12 million a year kit deal from Nike - a deal that is due to run out soon and will be up for tender with rumours that a far more lucrative deal will be signed with Under Armour. That's well over £250 million a year without me even trying and is before a single penny of commercial revenue is taken into account, much of which these days doesn't come from companies located in or near our owner's homeland as you pointed out.

So yes, it's easy to see where he's coming from. City are clearly an insolvent business worth no more than a quid because obviously Mr gregster knows of some secret clause where, if the sheikh sells the club, we'll be the only club in the whole of the football league that will lose all our TV income, all our prize money, all our sponsorship revenue, all our match day revenue, and all the money from our kit deal. We'll go from generating circa £400 million a year to generating the sum total of zero pounds and zero pence per annum pretty much overnight.

Yep, what he said makes perfect sense to me.
Bump.

As I said Man city are worth 1 pound.
