Not often you start a game 1-0 up, especially with home advantage.

We've given a decent rest to some key players, and have a lot more depth then it was looking like 2 weeks ago, so we have every reason to be confident.

Or a matter of using the eye properly. Whichever you know.
There's no really need to force the discussion into the way that a certain opinion is certainly right and the other is certainly wrong. I didn't do that from the start to your opinion you know.

It depends on how we evaluate his performance. David was my favorite player last 2 seasons but he set the standards too high for him that you can't evaluate him as you're evaluating a normal GK that can save a shot or pick a cross and thanks for that . You can't evaluate Buaffon and Neur by the same way you're evaluating Romero for example. With these 2 the standards are higher. Same goes for David.

You've got to figure that Pogba is licking his lips at the prospect of this fixture. On the cusp of a European final with an away goal advantage, against a team he dominated last week - Now he gets to play them on a pitch that is conducive to him finding space to drive into. I'm expecting somewhat of a virtuoso performance from him on Thursday. Having said that, every time I think he's put together a run of form this season, it has ended promptly.

Now that I've said this, watch him channel his inner Santiago Canizares and rule himself out of contention after dropping a bottle of Hugo Boss on his toe.

I agree. We have rested our key players such as Valencia, Pogba, Rashford and Bailly. Fellaini, Jones and Smalling should also be fresh which gives us more option also at full back.

We were the better side at Vigo and we must be very wasteful if are to be eliminated, but the problem is that we can easily be very wasteful.

What in God's name has a clubs budget got to do with the amount of games played? He's a fecking anti United clown.
I had a look on Ballbag's feed and there's a bunch of crap in there about us and nothing about City lately? He was wanking himself into a frenzy at the start of the season, then came all the excuses. If he's so bothered about net spend why is he crying about Pep "not having his squad"? He's spent more money than any manager in the world the last 12 months and compared to the terrible team Pep inherited he's won 1 loss trophy, got knocked out two rounds earlier in Europe and is on course to get the same league finish.

He's supposed to be a professional journalist that writes books and shit. He sounds like the nobhead footy fans you went to school with..

The problem with David is his last 2 season he was legendary. He was making saves that no other Gk would make, and was nearly keeping us in games we did nothing in it and were depending only on him to save us.

His season he dropped from that legendary GK he was to an ordinary. He doesn't make any miraculous saves anymore. He's saving the shots any GK would save, only, and his mistakes has been increasing in rate than the last one. Now he looks like a very ordinary GK, not much difference from Romero to make me feel worried about Romero starting above him. I think David only appeared in his original legendary form in 2 or 3 games only this season.

Our defense has improved but I was still expecting him to save most of the goals we conceded this season if he was the same as he's last season. He's not bad. Just doesn't look as legendary as he was before.

He's one of the players that let me down and I believe let Jose down as well in his calculations before the season starting. He was planning on depending on Rooney behind Zlatan and Martial on the left, Smalling to perform as last season and De Gea to be as he was last seasons. All now become shots missed its target.
Thats a bit way off the mark. I agree that De gea was not up to the standards set by himself this season but the guy still makes great saves. The thing is Jose made sure that we doesnt depend on Dea Gea way too much as he made our defense way better this season.

But still I would his concentration was not top notch in atleast a couple of saves . Only because he set the standards for himself . If he wants to move back to his home country I wont stand in his way. The guy stayed with us and gave everything for the team in our most difficult times. So if he want to move back , I will let him leave but only for an absurd amount of money though.

Note : I dont think he will move anytime soon though. Madrid missed their chance ( just a feeling ).

There's not much disagreement between us anyway then.

Probably José's preferred line-up at the moment from what we have available. Obviously, difference of opinion in some cases on the goalkeeper, but I think that debate can now be saved until the final (if we get there, which we really, really should now). Another debate will be Chris Smalling, as I fully believe he is a 'Fellaini' type player in most fans eyes right now. ie. Most fans think he should be on the bench, probably come on to defend leads (or in Fellaini's case play the long ball as a last resort). However, Mourinho definitely sees him differently when he plays, gets fit an has a run of games. If Smalling stays fit and plays a few games over the last couple of weeks of the season, I think he'll start over Blind/Darmian if we're playing a Europa League final. Not quite sure he starts tomorrow, though.

As for this game, I just can't see us losing it. Celta Vigo just aren't quite good enough to beat us, especially in our own backyard. 1-1 at worst, but I think we'll win the game.

Starting to feel nervous already. I might have to have a sick bucket on standby for when they score first.

Think Celta will score and play much better than they did at home. It's up to us if we turn up or choke.

So I'm staying at the Lowry at the moment. Thinking of doing some creeper lobby lounging waiting for the squad to come.

I'll be much more reliable than fecking Luckhurst that's for sure.

Anyone know what time they usually arrive? I'm assuming it's going to be after the press conference.

According to a report earlier Rooney' agent was seen with Jose at the Lowry, they might already be there.

Jose stays at the Lowry, so him being there is not an indication that the squad have arrived.

Olosunde, Mitchell, McTominay and Willock part of the training squad as well. Looks like we'll see more of them (+Tuanzebe) in the remaining league fixtures.

How about the game plan ?

First 10/15 mins settle the game down, expect them to sit back but be prepared if they decide to shoot out of the blocks. Then for around 25 mins quicken the pace, build up the pressure with the aim of scoring. Sit back for the last 5 mins or so.

If they haven't scored in the first half they'll gradually force their way forward and we'll have to get some good counter-attacks in.

It it's 0-0 with 20 minutes left, how would you play the game out ?

We'll do them. Already got a 1 nil lead, expect to put plenty of pressure on Celta Vigo.

I know most have picked Fellaini, and undoubtedly he will play. But would love to see a front six of:

    Herrera Pogba
    Mikhitaryan Mata Lingard
    Rashford

I want to see us really dominate the ball early, play as much as possible in their half. Have them chasing shadows. Those three behind Rashford offer so much control, with Herrera recycling the ball and Pogba, Rashford offering that shift of pace and directness.

First half goal to knock the stuffing out of them and a second on the break as they get desperate.

I would like to see this....

    Herrera Pogba
    Mata Mikhitaryan Martial
    Rashford
Though I don't expect it to happen at all.

I think this is probably our best front 6 just now. At this stage in the season though with things as crucial as they are, I would just favour Lingard for a bit more control and determination. Martial could also be a better impact player if we need a goal.

But yeah, Fellaini will be in there at the cost of Mata or Mkhitaryan.

Did Valencia train with the team today ? I don't think I saw him in any picture.

Outside of Pogba, is there anyone else who risks suspension for the potential final?

Pogba is at no risk of suspension. All yellows are left starting from semi-final and the only way a player will miss the final is if he gets sent off tomorrow.
