Ronaldo is my goat.

different phases to his game. seriously, dude transitioned from fast winger with crazy dribbling skills to an apex predator of a forward, and managed to be best in the world during both eras.

has done it in different teams and leagues.

Other players may have caught people's hearts with their play style or shone slightly brighter but its almost guaranteed that they have not done it for this long or as consistently. If not that then there's usually an asterisk like "no major trophy with national team". Something. Ronaldo ticks all boxes, he is a monster. People may not like his personality or whatever but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to deny Ronaldo's status as goat.

Put simply, he is a goal machine.
No other words can describe him.

And to think 2 years ago, many MUFC fans felt he was not good enough to play for us, even though he was scoring almost as many goals as our entire team put together. :houllier:

If he joined us this Summer (and I know that won't ever happen), he'll immediately be our best player.
If you always state the obvious, you're always right.

The best player in the world will be the best player at United? Who'd have thought. ;)

Looking over my shoulder.
The bitterness from some people about him leaving for 'only' £80M, even though it smashed the World record fee at the time. I don't see any bitterness from Fergie, only delight that he's done so well.

Take a leaf out of his book.
I don't think, or at least I hope not, people are bitter - just a weird form of humor.

Locked himself in at being one of the top two best of all time now. Him and Messi are divisions above all else.

Ronaldo - Greatest Goalscorer of all time.
Messi - GOAT.

It may be debatable whether Ronaldo is up there with Maradona but it should not be debatable that he is the greatest European player ever. Those putting him behind Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Best, etc. should update their knowledge of the game.

He's starting to make more runs in and around the defense, stretching the defenders, outpacing them and getting ahead of defenders. He looks much faster now than he did in the Euros. Has he regained most of the pace that he seemed to have lost?

Absolutely brilliant game by him.
It was reported that he's shed some of the muscle and thus, weight that he used to have so he's leaner and quicker again.

That plus being rested at key times by Zidane has culminated in him being absolutely incredible the past few months.

Love the relationship of those two, shows what a man Fergie was and what a modest guys (in truth, not in the camera lights) Ronaldo is.

I'm not one of those cultists of his but I've got nothing but admiration for a guy who worked it from the ground to where he currently is. Sheer determination, being crazy about your goals and non-stopping force to go for it got him where he is, even if he comes across as a petulant cock at times, it's only because of those three factors mentioned before. He deserves all the plaudits and those who try to somehow bring him down, claiming there's 'no talk' about him as one of the goats delude themselves.

This is how he used to look like when he was at United. He put on a lot of muscle in his first season at Madrid.

Do any of you lot think Ronaldo is currently on his peak? I mean he's 32 and was generally considered to be on decline, his overall performances on the pitch has become somewhat limiting as compared to his past high standard. But what he has achieved in the past few years, and more specifically the past few months, was something I believe unprecedented and almost unmatched by any players in the past. The closest I could think, of course was Maradona in 86 WC, which was during his own absolute peak and the very peak of football.

Yup, Ronaldo's 10 goals in 5 games vs Bayern, Atleti and Juve are comparable only to Maradona's goals vs England and Belgium in '86. Maradona's goals, apart from that from his hand, were of higher individual quality but Ronaldo's feat is no less impressive, IMO.

Not his biggest fan, in fact don't think much about him since he left but it's great to see how much respect they show each other every time they meet.

I believe that even Fergie is stunned what kind of player he became throughout his career. Potential was there but hard work is what essentially made him so brilliant.

he is nothing short of astonishing. turns up in big games and small, scores goals even if he ins't playing that well and scored important goals at important times in important games. I would go as far as to say, had he been in the Barca team in the semi final they might very well have overturned Juve's three goal lead

From a United fan point of view it's a shame that when people look back on his career it will be all about his time at Real Madrid. United will be seen as a stepping stone to greatness achieved at Real Madrid in the same way that Sporting Lisbon will be seen as an even lesser footnote

Incredible player. I still remember watching him in our youth ranks football matches. Clubism aside, i never thought i would see a player from our little country achieve so much and become such a global icon. All thanks to his mentality, talent and work ethic. He's trully one of the greats.

The most explosive player I've ever seen. He would take anyone and everyone on.
