Currently covering it on Sky News. Looks horrific.

What!?Just heard on Five live that tenants were advised to remain in the building for their own safety.
There's not a sentence severe enough to deal with someone who'd risk the lives of so many for the sake of a few quid...
The place was apparently a fire hazard. Council were warned. How can a building burn right through so easily -- its as though the entire building was made of matchsticks. Usually its in small sections.
Via Sky...
The brigade is warning neighborhood residents: if they receive a call from a trapped relative, they should be told to self-evacuate now, and not to wait for rescuers.

Apparently nobody above the fourth floor has gotten out.

Same here but feel physical sick at the moment just thinking about what some people must be going through. Awful awful newsThere's not a sentence severe enough to deal with someone who'd risk the lives of so many for the sake of a few quid...
I'm usually a pretty cold person, but this really is hard to stomach. Absolutely horrible
So that's more than 20 storeys of men women & children unable to do anything...according to a survivor/eyewitness, he said that the firemen couldnt get beyond the 6th floor.
And apparently, no alarm went off. WTFSo that's more than 20 storeys of men women & children unable to do anything...
Absolutely sickening.

Sky are reporting they saw someone inside the building, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see 100+ still in there at the end of all this. Firefighters couldn't get past the 6th floor (there's 27 total), and residents were told to stay in place for their own safety.Any updates if people are still in there? The fire looked horrific.
I think there are more units than that. Someone on the Beep said that there are 10-12 units per floor.Jeez 120 flats in there, heartbreaking. Just hoping there aren't too many fatalities
Had a fire, although much smaller, in my apartment block few months ago as well, and got told the same. It seemed to make sense then as all the flat doors are fire resistant and the stairways were full of thick smoke. Obviously wasn't the case here, thoughWhat!?
feck. How did that happen? No fire alarm?Looking at the footage if everybody got out safe , it will be amazing.
I had an friend who died in a house fire with her 3 kids
It was about 20 years ago, fire started downstairs and they were all found huddled in a bedroom, yes no smoke detectors.feck. How did that happen? No fire alarm?
