José Mourinho said:
Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United.
Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer.

I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us.’

Can't wait to see him pairing up with Bailly to form our new Rio Vidic CB

Tell you what, I think he's gonna have a tough time competing with Tuanzebe.

Not a great game but you cant really judge in first game of pre season. He wasnt helped by TFM who i think is a sprinter trying to play football.

Lindelof is faster, better with the ball and reads the game much better. Plus he has the experience from both playing regularly for Benfica, Sweden's national team and the Champions League.

Doubt it.

Might have an adjustment period getting to grips with the physicality of the premier league, but hs very young and clearly extremely talented for a defender. Think he'll form an excellent partnership with Bailly.

I can't agree with any of those. I've never seen a defender play like Tuanzebe. He's the calmest player on the pitch, invariably wins most of his duels, is two footed, passes extremely well under pressure but is beset with a general nonchalance which could be mistaken for a lack of interest( which might be the case).

I think he's more talented, by quite a margin.

Still first game of pre season. But I have confidence with Tuanzebe to challenge the XI spot. He looks very matured and composed already when I watched him last season.

Very good on the ball. Will definitely compliment most of our centre backs, and it will suit him even more if we go with three at the back. Defensively; however, he was at fault for both goals I felt. Over compensated for the first goal, which allowed him no time to recover when Dos Santos cut in. He was always going to cut in and shoot, so Lindelof should have probably stood him up. As for the second, he didn't do anything to defend the corner. Should have at least jumped. From what I saw, overall, good on the ball, but needs to improve defensively

Losing to Comeback Winning!
First game, at fault for both goals, his few possible weaknesses..

aerial defense ~ defensive heading and jumping seems that bad.

tackling ~ should get closer and tight to opponents, don't give them time on the ball, EPL will punish him.

Other than those, his overall performances is impressive.

I'm assuming you haven't been watching Lindelof before then.

Tuanzebe hasn't proven anything on the highest level yet, meanwhile Lindelof has.

To say he is more talented by quite a margin is just absolutely insane and ignorant.

Bailly was more at fault for the first goal, didn't follow his man. Difficult to defend against a sharp turn like that. Have to give credit to the goalscorer. Second goal, yeah, should have at least jumped but he wasn't the only player around the ball. You guys are too harsh.

A base camp for the last, final assault
I thought he was decent, good tackle at the end inside the box to deny what would have been a clear scoring chance. Was a bit tentative with the passing at the beginning but grew into the game. Could have done better on both the goals but wasn't the main man at fault.

I agree except he reminds me Kimpembe from PSG and like the frenchman even if he deserves to be starter, he'll be on the bench because he comes from the academy...

Not a great debut but I'm sure he'll improve. Worth pointing out that Bailly had a really poor game and nobody doubts what a great defender he is. Even so, his positioning was a bit off quite few times and he was very poor for the 1st goal (as was Bailly). Also at fault for the 2nd goal, very strange that he didn't challenge in the air. I do also think Joel Pereira could have done much better with the 2nd goal though. Throughout the game I also feel like TFM was leaving Lindelof and Bailly very exposed and in comparison Tuanzebe didn't seem to be having the same problems due to Darmian doing a better job at covering his flank. In terms of positives, he looked very comfortable on the ball. He made one excellent forward run in particular. He also made one excellent tackle in the game. Too early to tell whether or not he's ready to be a 1st choice cb for us. Looking forward to see how he does against other teams and alongside different partners.

This, but he still let himself get wrong footed.

The second goal was just lazy. From what little I know of him he's not a blood and guts type player who will throw himself at everything though.

Yeah but would be more because Tuanzebe 's very good.

Lindelof is gonna need sometimes to adjust to playing in the PL IMO. He will come good eventually.

When did you see them race each other?
I don't agree with much in your post, other than he's more experienced.
Axel is going to be an exceptional player.

I agree with people that Tuanzbe could give Victor a hard time. Right now this guys have so much experience but in three years time I can't imagine what tuanzbe can become ! The guys is so cool like he is already close to 25 rather than 18 !!

Just think that pep would kill someone to have a player like tuanzbe at City.

Note : Watch out Williams too . Smalling and Rojo needs to be careful .

Didn't see the match and don't want to comment on Lindelof other than stating that I find it completely unlikely that he is faster than Tuanzebe. Tuanzebe is lightning quick, and Lindelof is, to be blunt, Swedish.

I just feel sorry for him. It's hard to mark Messi at the best of times, never mind when he's invisible. No shame in being Boatenged for their first goal when you think of it like that.

He looked good till their first goal when I believe all the defense went on sleeping and didn't expect any dangerous move from LA. Normal thing to happen in a preseason game. I'm sure it won't get repeated in an official match.

The second goal is another thing, though. He was said to be very poor in the aerial duels when we signed him and the goal proved that unfortunately. If he didn't improve in the air it could mean some problems in EPL as Bailly too isn't that great in the air.

Still early on and the next games will clarify this more.

Bailly was also poor in a situation where he tried to clear it with his high boot instead of going for the header and Pereira saved it. Lindelöf and Bailly have to improve with high balls, we will get exposed against the physical teams if they play together

Yep, that's my fear too. Having 2 CBs weak in the air is going to be a big problem in EPL. Either they improve or we'll need to get a DMF good in the air to support them.

Heading as a defender's attribute isn't as crucial as ability on the ball in today's football due to how football has evolved. High pressing is so common now, while strikers nowadays receive the ball on the ground much more than in the air. I think its still early days and with most of our players being over 6 footers, i wouldnt be too worried for now.

Thank God neither Smalling nor Jones were on during Galaxy goals. Caf would have exploded!
