A former Ballon d'Or is forgotten ??
I mean, i havent completely forgotten about Andriy Shevchenko, but i most definitely forgot that he won a Balon D'or when i just checked the list of winners a second ago.

He was all hype as a youngster but done nothing whatsoever at senior level.
Still got his move to Chelsea though!

Zoran Tosic, I think about him every time I wear my comfy house shorts that are way too big so maybe not so much unforgotten but he's just obscure.

I can understand forgetting a little after his Chelsea career but to forget he won the Ballon d'Or ? Are you serious ? It was the thing that was the most mentioned about him when he started to play for them.

He had a loan spell playing for their youth team due to the Portuguese connections at Chelsea at the time.

He clearly doesn't belong in here. Plenty have probably never heard of him and he literally done nothing at senior level other than languish around lower leagues.

He was a fecking beast before he joined Chelsea. Absolutely brilliant for AC.

He has the best agent in the game, seemingly. He's probably the worst professional footballer I've ever seen. A few inches smaller and he'd have no career.

I'd actually forgotten that too until reading it here. I think it's something to do with this era where the Balon d'Or is a Messi vs Ronaldo contest. It's odd to remember that it used to go to different people every year.

Not to be a dick about it, but I don't understand how someone can forget about the likes of Rui Costa or Riquelme (mentioned earlier by another poster,) unless you never really knew about them or sadly suffering from memory loss. It's utterly bizarre.

Being honest I don't think many players on this thread have been forgotten at all, the very fact they are being mentioned is proof enough that people do remember them but not intentionally had forgotten them for however long or short a time span be they either past or present players.

Thomas Vermaelen. If it was not for the match tonight I would have thought he was retired. Injuries really killed his career

My cousin recently informed me of the likes of Jon Stead, Mikael Forsell, Asier Del Horno all had decent Premier League stints - pretty much expunged them from my memory but to be fair they all did fall off the face of the earth.

And the black Dutch Liverpool winger that had a bit of hype around him a couple of years ago, I remember Liverpool signed him then I've never heard his name again. Did he ever leave or has someone locked him in the locker room as a practical joke and everyone forgot he existed?

I feel alot of players went to QPR when they had "money" and then literally vanished from the earth, Adel Taarabt, Jose Bosingwa, Nedum Onuha, Julio Cesar, Ben Haim, Junior Hoilett etc
